This one is a different more folkier direction than all the other REO cd's, it even has a country sound to it, some of the songs are cool but it is the weakest cd they did, even less than the Good Trouble CD.

The record label who financed this disaster by REO Speedwagon (Priority/Rhythm Safari) went bankrupt. Then they pawned it off on Castle Records, which also went belly-up. The band ended up financing it themselves, and lost a ton of money. No wonder. ALL the songs, without exception, suck. Without Gary Richrath, Kevin Cronin has to reach back to songs he wrote at age 17 about wanting to be a star at the Grand Ol' Opry. This album truly sucks, even for the most loyal REO Speedwagon fan.

Not bad, but really lacks the enthusiasm of their early albums and the commerciality of their 80s albums. The title track and "Look the Other Way" are probably the highlights for me. Its a decent release, but casual REO fans should probably skip this one.

I am a big REO fan. Building a Bridge was a huge disapointment. 6 years since the one before it and this is all they could muster. What's worse is its been 8 years since this one... i guess ol kc has hit his creative peak long ago...

Keep listening to this Cd and trying hard to like it. But i just can't. Its very poor. Only a couple of tracks cut the mustard the rest are bad. I agree with Phil. Grand Ol' Opry song is a real toe curler. 2/10

To me, this is once again just such average rock. I sold it only a few months after I bought it. Not my cup of tea, and just un-inspired, to me.

From: Propane Date: December 3, 2004 at 10:24
Complete lack of artistic creativity here. What the hell is this disaster!? Why oh why do some musicians do the things they do sometimes?!

From: Nick C Date: January 2, 2005 at 7:14
ooooh Dear! What happened....this is pretty naff. Building the Bridge and Can't Stop Rockin (wha??...when do u start on this release??) are the ONLY half decent tracks. Twee b*llocks.

From: Remastered Reason Date: January 21, 2006 at 15:02
A huge letdown after waiting 6 years for another album. Even after repeated listens, there is no spark. Sadly, it is now 10 years later & still no new material. C'mom guys, how long now must REO fans endure for a new record, let alone a good one?

From: Holland4you Date: February 2, 2006 at 18:29
A Great album, but that's just a matter of taste. I like a lot of the songs, maybe it's because i like country so much. But there are also a few fillers, but all in all it's good

ok release by REO SPEEDWAGON in their usual style and approach !the sound&production are great but the songs arent so good and memorable!the highlight to me is Dave Amato s performing which is of the highest level !Such a great session guitarist!Overall this is only for die hard fans

From: bmoviecritic Date: August 5, 2019 at 3:23
In my original review I was harsh to this in 2002, I was expected the band to be a bit more rockin' since the new members debut had some great stuff on it. Considering all the production hell and label changes, this album is decent despite the hurdles.
