If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.
The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Styx CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.
EPs and CD-singles from Styx are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

How many top songs do you see on here? Greatest Hits? Not till Tommy came on board and brought a spark to the band. You see a big difference in the songs.

I bought this CD so I didn't have to buy Styx I through Man of Miracles. In essence, this does the same job for lazy/budget conscious Styx fans as "In the Beginning" did for Journey. However, there's some good stuff here. I particularily like the JY stuff. I think the fact he got demoted to the 3rd string after Tommy Shaw got on board is a bit unfortunate. JY rocks! "Best Thing", "Rock and Roll Feeling" etc. are cool, albeit a bit too classic-rock sounding.

These are all good songs for the most part, but the sound quality of the cd is strangely muddy. Can't recommend it for that reason.

Rating Styx albums: If you like hard rock/guitar driven songs, stick to pre 1979. If you like AOR/ballad type stuff, the newer albums will be more to your liking. All Styx albums have a mix of the two styles, with the later albums less heavy. As for me, the "Cornerstone" album, with "Babe" signalled the end of "my" Styx. Early Styx rocks - check it out.
