Heavy Harmonies Review |

As the title implies, this is a collection of unreleased and demo tracks that were not on the first two Tour de Force releases. As far as I'm concerned, I'm *damned* glad they decided to release these tracks! Ultramelodic keyboard-driven AOR of the finest calibre. Plenty of vocal harmonies thrown into the mix as well. I'll have to go back and listen to my copy of the self-titled effort (I don't own "World on Fire") but I think musically the tracks here may be better. Since these are unreleased tracks, the production is a bit spotty here and there, but overall the mix quality is pretty good. Despite any production anomalies, these tracks definitely deserved to see the light of day! Standout track for me is On My Way. Fans of early '90s melodic AOR (Takara, Frontline, Jaded Heart, etc.) will really dig this. Rating: 90/100

All of you looking for a retro-sounding album that really rocks the way you remember it, look no further than Tour-De-Force. These sounds take me back. Two great songs are Stand Up and Can't Wait. Another band to check out on the same record label is Adrian Gail, these guys rock too.

David...Their S/T is pretty good and you should be able to pick it about for around $25...Their World on Fire cd is ok too but the Jap version is better because it includes a bonus song that is really good.

Tour de Force are a great band, this CD has some great songs on like City nights, Stand up and Diana, Big choruses, well produced and chali cayte is one of the great aor singers, I just bought World on fire that is even better than this. Chale also sung in the band Without Love the CD named trouble. Check out tour de Force if you Love hooks and Melody the songs will stick in your head for days.

If you just love Journey, Styx, and any keyboard heavy AOR and your ears perk up when you read in reviews "awash with keyboards" and "dripping in melody" then you'll drool over this. Very good melodic album that would have sold BILLIONS in 1985 and that's a compliment!!! Almost impossible not to hum along and even though I like a little more "toughness" in my albums this is still great laid back melodic rock listening.

If it is pure AOR you are after - mid 80's style with an equal mix of keyboard and guitar - and as long as you don't mind that the album is previously unreleased material rather than a new album, check this out. The quality of the songwriting and the vocals of Chali Cayte are highlights.

This is good stuff but "World on Fire" will always stand out...This album tends to get too boring in the long run but still has a large amount of memorability!

All Tour De Force records are worth your attention ! So also this one ! Great AOR act, Dan has said it right ! It's indeed great that this has been released ! And there is also another Tour De Force. Also a great act, but far more obscure than these guys !

This is good stuff, put in context as being demos. If you LOVE "World On Fire", as I do, then you ought to get this and the S/T album for completion. They're patchier in quality than the brilliant "W.o.F" but still excellent AOR in their own right.

Not as good as 'World on fire' and much better than the debut. Simple as that. This is a great collection of commercial hard rock songs. Well worth checking out. My fave is 'Diana'.

Any Bon Jovi fans here tonight? the first track on this one "Stand Up" is a wet dream for the "Itīs my Life" and "Runaway" party. All in all a great band and album not to be missed. 85/100

I hate to go against public opinion here, but I was unimpressed by this release. This is the only Tour De Force cd I have listened to, but IMO, most of the songs should have stayed unreleased. There seems to be some good potential here, but the songs seem like they have no direction and just don't gel. Seems sort of garage band sounding to my ear. Of course, just my opinion. Just beware before you buy based on the above opinions.

This album consists of "demo material" thus the "garage sound" mentioned above... The music itself is highly underrated though...They have a sound/style of their own!

"Stand Up" "All Night Along" "On My Way" and "Lies" are all mind-blowing awesome songs! "Diana" and "Can't Wait" are also purely awesome. "Roads" is a wonderful ballad. The other songs are also good as well.

I have to agree with bdrums. I must say that I do not hear the comparison to Jaded Heart, Frontline or Takara. All of those bands are great. Except for the song Stand Up I find these tunes pretty average. These guys just seem to be lacking that melodic punch that I enjoy. Just my two cents.

Last album known by TDF...a lot better than the self titled but still it doesn't beat the unbeatable "World On Fire" of '96...a lot of goodies in the shape of tracks 2,3,4(nice mid tempo),5,7,8,9,10,12 & 13...enjoyable to say the least about this effort.84/100
