A MUST HAVE! THIS GREAT BAND IS THE TRUE DEFINITION OF AOR.OBSCURE AND LIGHT COMPOSITIONS MEET ALL IN ONE MUSICAL BODY WITH HEART-CONQUERING LYRICS.KEYBOARD SOUND IS FANTASTIC IN ADDITION.IF YOU WANNA BE A PART OF A FANTASY,THE BAND PROMISE IT WHILE YOU LISTEN THE FIRST TRACK.YOU'LL GONNA DROWN IN THE SEA OF ATLANTIC'S HEAVEN OF AOR..

From: Rene Date: April 26, 2001 at 17:11
Great album, is pure AOR, in my opinion, songs fantastic, my preferences are: the ballad When the war is over is wonderfull, you can make cry; Phil Bates have a great voice, he is singing with heart and soul, if you never hear this band, find it, Atlantic is AOR, Im great fan, you flying with the wind with Atlantic. Buy it!, Buy it!

From: GUROL GURLER Date: October 27, 2001 at 4:09
Incredible AOR! Yes,I can't find an another word to define this album.Great vocals, great keyboards, great arrangements, great songs...And result: A wonderful album.Every AOR fan must buy this album.Certainly!

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2002 at 10:28
Very under-rated band. Every bit as good as Giant or FM U.K. but without the popularity. The sheer number of well-crafted AOR songs and memorable hooks will take you by surprise. Definitely worth getting.

From: wiljan vriens Date: January 22, 2002 at 17:12
yes this cd is the aor that we all love so much there is no other band like this!! it's unique in every word there is my favorite song is power over me and blasts out of my car radio so everybody hears it!! hehe

From: Nitro Date: March 25, 2002 at 3:40
GREAT CD !!! Listen to power over me great music great rock band Buy or cry

From: Andre Tekken Date: August 7, 2002 at 8:38
With no shadow of a doubt this is on of the finest aor lost jewel! With no predecessors in the music business they appeared as quickly as they disappeared in 94.I would describe their music as atmospheric, charming, straight ahead, melodic aor like early FM and Strangeways(Terry Brock era)!Phil vocals remind me of Dan Lucas. He doesn`t have a high range in his voice but surely have lots of feeling and soul on itI giveit a95 out of 10!Very good record!

From: Andre Tekken Date: August 7, 2002 at 8:44
Also I must say that their original cover who featured a picture of a woman`s lips licking a bunch of dollars!I guess it was rated and the band was forced then to come up with another one!The one which is shown above!

From: Ernest Date: March 2, 2003 at 23:48
It's exellent AOR,but very poor sound (for 1994).Good album, but it have to be remastered.

From: selfish@tlen.pl Date: May 19, 2003 at 14:51
I like this release. Very catchy AOR, not too hard etc.Ther's no bad songs od it. You'll find great power ballads, my fav is ''nothing to lose''. My recommendation, and i rang this one between 8-9 /10. Worth it's price

From: Jordi bormann Date: September 5, 2003 at 3:21

From: javi-valencia Date: September 7, 2003 at 14:28

From: Jordi Bormann Date: October 10, 2003 at 11:14

From: Jordi Bormann Date: October 31, 2003 at 6:50

From: javi-valencia Date: November 1, 2003 at 16:26

Estoy ansioso!!

From: Para Javi Date: November 12, 2003 at 6:18

This one have everything that I love about AOR! Every single track is a masterpiece (except Bad Blood) who is a bit boring. Can´t hold on, Power over me and It´s only love are all great AOR.The only negative is the production, it could be much better! If you´re into bands like FM(first),Rox Diamond and Survivor(When seconds count)you have to buy this one!

From: jsm Date: November 27, 2003 at 12:18

From: jsm Date: November 27, 2003 at 12:20

From: Lucy Date: December 13, 2003 at 17:18
I think this band is awesome! "Can't hold on" is my fav!

From: Andy Evans Date: December 14, 2003 at 20:48
Anybody know where I can get the album as I was the Guitarist on it and I don't have a copy so if someone knows how I can get hold of one let me know. Originally the band was named PAF (Patient Applied For). My email is Andy.EvansHill@Virgin.Net if anybody is interested in the story of the band. Glenn and I are going to do something soon but we don't know what. I only wrote 90% of the guitar solo's but I am glad that you all liked the stuff. I was honoured to play with Phil and the others.

Great album ,but very bad sound(I'm hi fi fan).It must be remastered. It's a shame so many great albums from the near past sound so bad because someone in the studio didn't do well his job.

From: TIM (2) Date: July 26, 2004 at 4:53
Have seen this on eBay quite a bit, and Schmankerl records have it, so you should be able to track it down. It's very good, and despite the really thin production is still not far behind F.M's "Indiscreet", with "Power Over Me" being the obvious standout track. I seem to remember vocalist Phil Bates performed the theme-song for the UK version of the show 'Gladiators', which probably made him more money than this album ever did... Quality album though. 8.5/10.

From: Ivo Gonçalo Date: August 12, 2004 at 10:46
Sem duvida um grande cd, grandes malhas... (Portugal)

From: aorjocke Date: August 21, 2004 at 17:10
If you're a fan of british AOR(I am!)like, FM, Outside Edge, Peroux, Virginia Wolf, Sugartown or Change Of Heart...all with great lead and harmony vocals and plenty of keys, you should go for this one to. Phil Bates has a very strong voice who fits the songs perfect. The whole album are great, but there are some standout tracks like, "Power Over Me", "It's Only Love" and "Can't Hold On".9,5/10

From: AOR freaky Date: August 22, 2004 at 6:38
Damn right your are, aorjocke ! This is good, man ! And I like your taste ! You and Wotty : two people with a great taste ! Nice to see here some people that know a lot of AOR ! That can't be said of 99% of the others talking about it here ! They only THINK that they know a lot, hé Geoff !

From: aorjocke Date: August 22, 2004 at 7:19
Thanks AOR freaky! You're taste aren't so bad either...

From: Geoff Date: August 22, 2004 at 23:21
This is an amazing melodic hard rock CD, and one of the best releases I've picked up for a long time that I missed first time round. But as AOR Freaky and two of his buddies are obviously the only two who know what they're talking about on this site I guess that means nothing. To me, though, this is powerhouse melodic hard rock without filler. Very glad I found it!!!

From: kiko Date: November 1, 2004 at 11:37
can someone tell me where i can find the lyrics for these tracks ? thanx a lot in advance, very good piece of AOR.

From: Andy Evans Date: December 1, 2004 at 19:19
Hi, I can't believe that people are still writing up about this album as I played Lead Guitar on it ages ago. I don't think Phil ever got anything for the Gladiators stuff as he was not the original singer on the theme tune. He just sang the Single which flopped. Togga Copied the Cd for me. So thanks very much. I will ring you as I have not forgoten. Paul the bass player has been in touch but we have not seen each other yet. The quality on the cd is worse than the original recordings that we did

From: Andy Evans Date: December 1, 2004 at 19:31
Simon Harrison was the man behind this Album. If it was not for him it would not have been made. He co-wrote it with Phil and financed it with his own money. So Simon if you are out there get in touch with me. (Andy.Evanshill@Virgin.net)

Certainly a lost jewel in the long list of Great uk AOR releases. This is a brilliant album. Reminds me of the mega Strangeways alot in places, aswell as Dare, FM and Harem Scarem (s/t) especially on 'Hands Of Fate' & 'Every Beat Of My Heart'. Can't list any bad tracks on this as there aren't any, which you can't say about many releases these days. Along with the aforementioned UK bands, one of the best Brit AOR releases ever.

Fantastic album, probably 3 tears too late, in the same leauge as The Storm, FM, and BEnglish, too bad the production is not great, all songs are just great and just enough touch of keys, this is how it should be done!!!! Now when is the remaster coming??? which brings me to a question, how do older albums get rereleased? we need about 50 put out including The Ladder, From the Fire, etc.

From: AOR freaky Date: February 14, 2005 at 13:29
Indeed, Swriter : this is KILLER AOR, but rather unknown and certainly far uderrated ! Recommended !

From: Geoff Date: March 24, 2005 at 23:15
Got to agree with you there Swriter. There a lot of albums lined up these days for re-issue - many worthy, and man I wish the Zero one had ben done well, but this would have to be in my top 5 albums in desperate need of a re-issue. I only have a CDR and can deal without the tears that will fall if that CDR ever falters and I'm left without this gem. Re-issue please...

From: Muddley Date: March 25, 2005 at 11:29
Geoff, I was looking for this cd for years. One day I met this guy who was selling a lot of great cd's. I went to his place and the first cd, he pulled out was this one..........FANTASTIC. Its really a masterpiece.

From: swriter Date: August 31, 2005 at 17:15
finally got a copy of this one, fantastic and should be on my best of list, very aor but not too light, a great one!!!! I think Atlantic go hand in hand with Boulevard and From the Fire cds

So, where do I begin? First of all DO NOT mind the year wich can be quite weird for this kind of effort. This MONSTER of a release make Fortune 85' s/t looks like teenagers amateurs!!! Stands up side by side with early FM or even the legendary 2nd and 3rd Strangeways releases gaining inmediately the Classic status. Catchy as you'll never imagine, choruses stick in your mind forever. Forget Harlan Cage or even The Storm, to my humble opinion this is TOP THREE OF ALL 90'S!!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: September 16, 2005 at 12:51
Top 3 is maybe a bit over the top, but this is indeed a bloody GREAT record !

From: ArnoldLancelot Date: September 19, 2005 at 21:44
Hi dear Freaky! Yes, you're probaly right that I went a bit too far with that rating, but that's because my love for this cd it's really BIG!!! Anyway I think I wouldn't be far from the truth at all with a top 10 rating instead!!! Cheers!

I feel so lucky because I just got from e-bay after big search a Jap. copy of this AOR Gem which contains a bonus track "Heart's on fire". My personal opinion: this is one of the 5 best AOR of all time. It's a pity that this great band gave no signs since "Power". I have to agree that with FM/Strangeways/Storm are the best AOR British groups but next to them stands the great "Passion Street" with "Million Miles Away". Don't lose this perfection...

HARD TO BELIE

Many bands are put apart by major record companies maybe 'coz they do not have a charming girlie look as this is "AOR" but it's time to change things.this guys deserve a hell of a recognition!.great underrated aor cd.what a shame.by the way,are they still performing?.

From: Carlos A. Date: December 11, 2006 at 11:28

From: lalorock Date: January 7, 2007 at 17:22
Discazo!,discazo!!,uno de mis favoritos de todos los tiempos,no tiene ningún tema de relleno, todas excelentes con esas melodías de otro mundo y para ser del 94, todavía mejor...,ya que en ese año estaba el grunge dominando la escena rockera, disco unico y paso desapercibido para algunos, temazos It´s only love, Power over me(magistral demostración de melodía),Can´t hold on, Hands of fate,Every beat of my...,Dangerous game, todas con esa magia de composición de este excelente grupo 10/10.

YEAH, this is an absolute AOR-Classic and an amazing highlight. The outstanding tracks are "Can`t hold on" and "Dangerous game"...HIGH RECOMMENDED!!!!!(10/10)

CLASICO. 9.4/10

maybe a little overrated but a good cd anyway. program "Power Over Me", "Nothing to Lose", "It's Only Love", "Hands of Fate", "Dangerous Games" & "Hard to Believe" and you´ll have the essential Atlantic collection in your player.

Hey Everyone, I am glad to be able to announce that "power" by Atlantic will be re released in August this year in the UK and Europe by Escape Music. It is great to see so many good comments on this record. I was one of the musicians and co-writers on it. A big hello to Paul Hoare and Andy Evans! I'll mail you soon. Peace!

This band knows how to deliver a killer chorus but the verses are a bit too mellow for me. "Can't Hold On" and "Power Over Me" are great songs!

From: Photochromic Steve Date: November 9, 2008 at 14:24
I can only agree with the majority of reviewers - this is a classic album, with only "Bad Blood" that I don't like. It rates along with Passion Street, Ransom's "Trouble in paradise" and Captive Heart's "Home of the brave" as great one-off albums. It's always a little disappointing when you find something this good, only to find that the band split up years earlier and there's no chance of any more music from them!

I wrote back in 2006 that this band deserved more and my appreciation's still intact ...incredibly it was a challenge to Atlantic to record an album like this at the beginning of the grunge thing...basically an enjoyable album from head to toes..."Can't Hold On" is such a wonderful piece of AOR ,"Every Beat Of My Heart" nice,"Power Over Me" catchy,"Nothing To Lose" solid smooth one,"It's Only Love" for me the best one of the album,"Bad Blood" remains me of U.K's FM band ,"Hands Of Fate" & "Dangerous Games" both excellent shots!!!...shame these guys only recorded one album but what an album...a must have!!!...ahhhh...and what about the cover(the one i have)...the girl with the tongue out... ...95/100

I just can't seem to get excited about this as other commenters do on here. The rhythms are there and the vocals are decent enough but this album seems to lack a special spark that other similar bands have such as Passion Street and Strangeways. Still, there are some very good AOR tracks here such as Every Beat of My Heart, Nothing to Lose and It's Only Love, but they don't appear to stick in my head for days like other bands' tracks do and I find myself forgetting this album. For me, decent but not outstanding.
