Heavy Harmonies Review | |

I'm a real big fan of the work that John and Dino Elefante released on their Pakaderm CCM label, but what I didn't realize is that they had done work outside the CCM arena. Crystal was formed in 1983, and over the course of the next 10 years released 2 albums and an EP. This CD is a compilation of the best material from those efforts. The songs on this disc are solid AOR with a classic '70s feel at times, especially the keyboards. The production is quite polished, as one would expect. The lead vocalist has some unusual characteristics to his voice, at times reminiscent of a blend of early Phil Collins crossed with Ian Anderson. It's kinda bizarre (good, but bizarre . The songs are a nice mix of rockers and ballads, and the choruses on all the songs are richly layered. This is classic material getting a very well-deserved release! Rating: 83/100 |

Anyone can tell at which bands they are similar? Thanks |
From: Geoff | Date: January 7, 2005 at 18:34 |
Hard to mention a similar band for these guys. It's clear, well played melodic / commercial hard rock, similar to a few around at the time. Very good, consistent stuff but not brilliant. Comparisons? Don't hold me to this 100 percent, but I'd say maybe Fastway 'On Target' era mixed with early DaVini / Treat sound. They are a good band and fans of keyboard driven (But not TOO many keyboards) Scandi sounding sort of melodic hard rock will dig it. I got it for cheap and it was WELL worth it. |

Thanx Geoff for help.I think I'll quite appreciate this cd also if I am not a Fastway great fans, but Da vinci and Treat are one of my favourite bands...Recently I've got Justin Sayne, not impressed but are good musicians, maybe in Journey style but more technical tracks, more elaborate...but I disagree with other commets about that cd...not awesome, some pretty good songs |

!!!??? Very Good AOR/Melodic album, Pero que??? estaban aca??? Uuu una excelente banda que solo saco 3 EP The One for You(1985), Crystal(1989), Crystal 3(1993) y aqui encontramos 8 temas de un total de 11 que tuvieron pero... porque mejor no lo completaron como es posible que dejaran 2 de sus mejores temas A Piece Of My Heart & Why Have All The Right Girls Been Taken 2 cortes Extraordinarios que elevarian mas esta coleccion y Shadows in The Night es una buena balada a lo Journey... |
