I'm surprised this one has gone unnoticed on here. This is some very good quality hard rock in the vein of Candy and Paul Godfrey Band. The only downside is the quality of the audio. Thinkin' Of You is my favourite, followed by Playing With Love, the wonderful ballad Where Are You Now and Give Love Another Try. |

Synch were a band out of eastern Pennsylvania (Allentown, I think). Although this album was released in '86, "Where Are You Now" became a Top 10 hit in America in the spring of '89, because some radio DJ liked it and gave it new life (like what happened with "When I'm With You" by Sheriff around the same time). At that point it was billed as "Jimmy Harnen With Synch." It's a whiny, poor-man's-REO-Speedwagon ballad that never made me want to hear anything else they did. |

Checking on this a little further: the Synch version of "Where Are You Now" charted low, but was enough to get Jimmy a major-label deal for a solo album assisted by many of the usual AOR session suspects (Bill Champlin, Steve Lukather, the YouTubiquitous Tim Pierce). But due to the writing/playing on that single, it was billed as "Jimmy Harnen and Synch." |
