GREAT BAND,GREAT ALBUM, JIM JAMISON SURVIVOR VOCAL

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2002 at 12:01
Rivetting hard rock from a pre-Survivor Jimi Jamison. Definitely a must for all Survivor fans, but those who are well-versed with the Vital-Seconds-Sleep trilogy will immediately sense a lack of depth in the writing. Still, just as Survivor proved a quantum leap from Cobra, Cobra proved a giant step from JJ's earlier works: the tepid Target and dated-sounding D'Beaver.

Finally got this CD and it does rock! However, I might make a CDR for myself and list the original on Ebay! Keep watching the Ebay monitor!

This is my favorite album of all time - Jimi's singing is great, and Mandy's guitar playing is incredible - he was only 21 at the time! I have the original vinyl, and a couple of years ago bought the (legit -not CD-R) CD from EPIC/Germany online through Implulse Music. The CD sounds so much clearer and punchier than the vinyl. Song material is 1983-era hard rock - heavy guitar, minimal keys, but great!

RAW AND PASSIONATE ALBUM, AN INTEREST COLLECTORS ITEM, VERY RARE! RATING 8.5/10

From: Gar Date: August 21, 2002 at 19:46
I was disappointed by this album. Jimi was great in Survivor, but these songs are very generic and forgettable. "Looking at You" is a nice ballad, about the only memorable song on the album.

Hey, I finally found Cobra here after searching fruitlessly on Napster and Kazaa. OK, even if it's only 30 seconds of low-fi it's great to hear "Blood on your money" again - one of the best hard rock tracks ever. Why didn't these guys make it past their first album? Whoever has the CD, please put it on Kazaa - thanks.

This was one of my all time favourites, back in those days anyways. The singing, playing and melodies are great. Much like a rawer Survivor. Love Danger Zone, Looking At You. Never heard their other album, Warriors of the Dead. Anyone know if it is any good?

From: dannyrock Date: February 1, 2004 at 13:39

Mostly a collector item for fans of Survivor and Gotthard, before Jamison and Meyer joined those bands respectively. Some of the songs start off great like Blood On Your Money, Danger Zone and Only You Can Rock Me, but are ruined by a weak chorus. Looking At You and Travelling Man are the two best songs (must be why Gotthard covered them). 5/10

From: Rycheage Date: June 13, 2004 at 0:31
Fans of melodic US hard rock will pull this album to pieces because it reeks of every cliche thinkable, but the class is obviously there. The sound on the album is a glorious amalgam which sees cross references to Def Leppard, Rainbow, Kiss, and Night Ranger. A good image and good sound, but the band literally sunk like a stone.

From: Dean Date: July 3, 2004 at 2:55
Big Papa K- don't forget about two of the other guys in this band- Jeff Klaven and Tommy Meiser; both went on to record several albums with Krokus. Even Jack Holder went on to do something with Degarmo(i think)

From: GJ Date: October 13, 2004 at 16:47
Much more different than Survivor. HARDROCK with a sharp and rough edge. The production is a bit poor.

From: guillermo Date: November 3, 2004 at 5:11
muy buen album de aor clasico la produccion es algo floja pero eso le da gracia al asunto.Tuve que subir 3 veces el volumen. Como Survivor pero algo mas flojo en calidad.

I honestly doubt this would get any recognition at all if not for the Jim Jamison reference. This is hard rock in it's most simple and unspectacular form. Nothing that hadn't already been done a hundred times better, and that hasn't been done a thousand times better since. Like a few above, I think the ballad 'Lookin' at you' is nice but this disc really can go without tracking down. Below average hard rock.

From: Nick C Date: September 9, 2005 at 0:03
I have to agree there Geoff, for some reason I still have this and I'm at a loss as to why!!! It was dull when it came out, I was at a gig once with my mate (Gunner u reading this bud??) and Blood on Your Money came on over the P.A. and it took us ages to figure out who the band was even though we BOTH had the album, it made that big an impression on us both hahaha! 5/10 I'd say and that might be stretching it a little.

From: Erik Date: September 9, 2005 at 8:34
Pitty but its needs to be said. This is just a very poor record. Dont go waisting your hard earned money on this one. 5/10

Nick/Erik - Really surprised you don't like this one. Have always found this to be a really good, solid MR album. 'Travelin' Man' was one of my favourites for a long time when this was released and alot of the other tracks I really like aswell, especially 'I've Been A Fool', 'Looking At You', 'Fallen Angel' & 'What Love Is' . Jimi Jamison is excellent on this aswell. Strange how some tastes differ!!!!

From: Erik Date: September 9, 2005 at 9:05
And i have tried to like it Jezz. Didnot succeed tho Oh yeah and tomorrow with the Matrex one i will be receiving EZ Livin - After the fire / Street Legal - Thunderdome / Honeymoon Suite - The big Prize / and of course the offical cd of the great Gypsy Rose - Gypsy Rose. My weekend is perfect already

From: Nick C Date: September 9, 2005 at 10:10
Yeah ......it just doesn't light my fire at all. To me it just seems a little ploddy hahaha! Didn't Mandy Meyer go and join Asia for the Aqua album?

From: caritosmatanza Date: January 27, 2006 at 8:42
Bueno.

From: JarWi Date: May 15, 2006 at 8:20
Every song here rocks! This seems to be their only album which is such a pity, damn they should have done a couple more. The ballads Fool and Lookin' are very good and so is the rest. Love it.

From: Carlos A. Date: December 7, 2006 at 17:20

From: Kim HP Date: December 19, 2008 at 10:10
Good album. This is good hard rock, highlighted by Jamison's excellent vocals. The more AOR-ish tracks are great as well: check out "I've Been A Fool Before" and "What Love Is" , essential stuff for any AOR lover. "Looking At You" is a great ballad as well. 85/100

From: RONMETALLER Date: June 1, 2010 at 12:20
I love COBRA - First Stike since the first time i hear it on my stereo on cd reissied by the good reissue label Rock Candy! The songs are Hard-Rock with some ballads there. Jimi Jamison make an good work on vocals too,the rest of the band make the work worth every buck you spend on it on purchase. Several people here said that this album are common,genberic,poor.....i don't care if its common, generic or poor....f**ck with all this....the only thing that have an importance to REAL collectors lovers on good music is the GOOD MUSIC....thats all. To this album an rate of 8.5/10

From: MHR Date: December 31, 2010 at 7:28
I love this cd. Serious work

Hard Rock album done by the guy who has done a more than a big job in Survivor,Mr Jimi Jamison!!!...my faves are only 4("Blood On Your Money","Only You Can Rock Me","Danger Zone" & "Fallen Angel")but the whole album is well worth having it...in order to get to know what Jimi did before joining the "Eye Of The Tiger" guys...80/100
