| After a nine-year absence, I wasn't expecting Corvus to make a comeback, much less deliver an early entry for Album of the Year, but darn if they didn't do both. "Immortals" is upbeat, well-produced and features just enough programming to give it an appealing modern edge. Ciaran James' warm vocals are the perfect complement to this style of fluffy melrock, and more often than not the group manages to deliver very catchy anthems. My picks of of the album include the synthy "Let Me In" and "Just Like Heaven," the hard rock-tinged "Battle Cry," and the mushy "What About Love" and "Satellite," but it's difficult to find an outright bad track. This probably not be enough to win over listeners who simply prefer heavier fare, but fans of 7th Heaven, Bad Habit and the like will be rolling for this one.
