the angels in the early 90's kind of fell by the wayside with the birth of grunge but this was a good album still tear me apart, some of that love love are real gems and the ian hunter cover isn't bad either |

Agreed, after the ridiculous attention they received for Beyond Salvation (while it was good always found it weird considering it contained a number of reworks and was such a big departure from the classic Howling) Red Back Fever, while still treading similar methods to that of Salvation, Redback did indeed stir up some fever. From the outset TearMeApart grooves away nicely, the title track is a ton o' fun and SomeOFThatLove and ChildInYou kick well enough. However by this time their homeland had started to move away and toward the grunge leanings of the day, but The Angels remained a force and true Aussie legends of our scene. Aside from some EP and live releases they returned strongly with the overlooked nugget that was Skin&Bone which returned to a more traditional Angels. But Redback is well worth yer attention and is as usual high caliber from The Angels. Could've done without the covers but they don't suck, good stuff; Rating 7 |
