Not thei best but a very good album for Scani-rock&AOR lovers, it have the all the esenical elements to it but you will find some Groovy and funny songs in here that makes the thing a little diferent. The new re-issue by Metal Randezvous is great in sound and songs (because of the bonus traks wich are Fate´s S/T) but as with Treat new album they miss the personnel and album information. Anyway I recomend it to all!!

A very good melodic hard rock cd. Some tracks are very funny(Dead boy cold meat,Cupid shot me),"Babe you got a friend" reminds me my girlfriend when I went in the highschol, It's a wonderful power ballad.

From: Patrik Ek Date: June 6, 2002 at 3:55
It's pretty funny dark-evil-rockers like Hank Sherman formed this AOR / glam band after Mercyful Fate broke-up.

From: Kim Date: June 14, 2002 at 15:35
Patrik, it is funny. I`m going out tomorrow with Hank Sherman to have some beers and watch a Motley Jam Band. I often make fun of him, for having this period, where he made this kind of music. But it just shows another side of his talent...........Isnt this a `Bootleg`...I think so. Scratch`n Sniff by Fate is a gooood album.

From: Scandinavia Date: December 30, 2002 at 11:32
LOVERS!!!! Their best song ever...Typical melodic aor sound but still innovative....The video clip as a must-see!!! Jeff flirting heavily with a Danish porn model...really bad video, but done in a cool 80's style...I remember them in a bed full of popcorn singing "we were lovers. lovers...caught in an unknown dimension" HAHAHA

From: John Date: August 13, 2003 at 12:36
Not a ballad guy, but who can deny the melodic genius behind 'Babe You Got A Friend'? Not I. All of the tunes are catchy hard scando-rock. Buy if you can find.

From: heart-of-metal Date: October 27, 2003 at 23:28
Just keep in mind that Hank Sherman is not on Scratch And Sniff. Guitar giant,Mattias Eklundh, handles the guitar work!

I have the original release of this and the sound quality is ok... Song quality isn't that great, mind. Isn't a patch on "Matter of Attitude", although the production was a million times better. "Lovers" and "Love on the Rox" are the real AOR gems on here, but otherwise it's pretty patchy.

From: the oz man Date: July 25, 2004 at 14:41
this is suprb cheez aor melodic rock at her finest.. a example so pure that its reset the benchmarks for the genre worldwide!! amazing!

From: Sergio Date: November 22, 2004 at 18:14

JOYFUL MELODIC METAL! EVEN YOU DON'T LIKE METAL OR AOR I THINK YOU WILL LOVE THIS BAND AND THIS KILLER ALBUM!

From: Geoff Date: February 17, 2005 at 6:09
Another stellar release by these hard rock geniuses. I think part of the reason why Fate were so good and stood out above so many others was because of the air of originality they bought to the scene. Their lyrics are interesting, strange and wonderful and the melodies/songs are just superb. Again, every single song is excellent, but 'Beneath the coconuts' stands out with killer melodies, 'Lovers' and 'Lock you up' are perfect, as is the lovely 'Babe you got a friend' - they all are! Awesome CD!

From: z4roxx Date: February 17, 2005 at 12:45
Geoff,I'd mentione also the stellar"diamond in the rough",IMO.These guys are among the best in Scandinavia even if I don't consider this disc their best.My fave are"A matter of attitude"and"Scratch'n sniff"indeed.

Buy or Die.

Definately not as good as the previous 'Matter Of Attitude' which was a magnificent album, this still is a high quality release and well worth adding to the Scandie collection. There are two real highlights on this for me, the opening 'Beneath Da Coconuts' & the supreme 'Lovers' with its excellent, hooky chorus and Dut Dut keys - marvellous stuff. The added bonus tracks of the debut are good, but compared to this and MOA,nothing really special.

From: njgman Date: March 20, 2007 at 22:07
This album is pretty good, although not as good as the debut or "Matter of Attitude." This one has a better production, though. I read that a remastered version will be released in mid to late April. Great news!

When i started listening to this album the 3 first songs didn't impress me at all even though they were somehow fine but after the fourth one it started to rise like cream in a coffee!..."Beneath Da Coconuts" was a waste of time,"Love On The Rox" and "Knock On Wood" were highlights but "Knock On Wood" was better than "Love..."..then..."Lovers" is a very good AOR song,"Dead Boy Cold Meat" rocks,"Babe,You Got A Friend" is a very nice mid tempo and far the best track of the album(at least 4 me),"Lock You Up" is a fave along with "Cupid Shot Me"(this one rocks too)& "Diamond In The Rough"..."Send A Little Money" is a good song though it should have been a stronger number..good release but far essential.85/100.

From: 123charpenay Date: January 29, 2014 at 13:01
not their best record (a matter of attitude),not at the same level than their previous effort but a very great record."love on the rox""babe you got a friend" and lovers" are three super class scandi aor songs."knock on wood" is a remarkable rock n roll song."lock you up is a sensational hard rock song.track 1 is a great party rock song.track 8 and 9 are decent but tracks 5 and 10 are horrible.it s a nightmare.nevertheless i recommand this cd.

From: hair metal again Date: July 7, 2015 at 11:48
excellent release by FATE once again and somehow this band is unique and cant find many sounding like them!I d say that maybe they sound like a European version of David Lee Roth solo ones!the approach is commercial, the hooks are there and Limbo seems to be charismatic!"beneath da coconuts","babe, you got a friend" and "cupid shot me" are the highlights!

From: 123charpenay Date: July 22, 2015 at 13:06
receive yesterday the metal rendez vous edition.excellent and dynamic scandi hard fm.five fillers (tracks 5.8.10.17 and 19).the rest is top class hard fm with big guitars ,superb keyboards and very catchy choruse.ok sometimes the production is not extraordinary ,some songs have a raw (like demos) song, different than the others.this super band desserve a better production.nevertheless i recommand wrmly this raritie.
