Great cd if you like Dare, Jaded Heart, and Fair Warning.

From: tonikki Date: August 17, 2002 at 18:15
first album, canadian band.melodic rock very similar to harem scarem but more heavy with less(a lot of)quality.all their albums are good ones.this album has their worse production(but is not bad).the second album is called age of innocent and is the best

Excellent hard rock. "Desperation Sleeps" and "Heaven's Light" are the standout tracks. 9.0/10.

MMMMMMMMMMMM.

Hits you square in the face with that all-too-catchy opening riff from 'Broken Saviours'. The guitar fills are impeccable. I don't care for the vocals, but that guitar is played much like Pete from Harem. Good stuff.

I've had this for years and never really listened to it. I grabbed it the other day and I'm now kicking myself for not listening to it sooner. Very similiar to Jaded Heart and Bonfire in my opinion. The guitar work is very crunchy and very similiar to Lynch and Dokken. The harmonies and choruses are awesome as well. 9/10!

From: MelodicBoy Date: December 12, 2004 at 22:42
I must've listened to a different CD, as this didn't grab me at all. Very generic, no hooks at all to my ears. Bought it because of the Harem Scarem comparisons, but the HS boys can at least craft a catchy tune. From what I hear on this, these guys can't. Lyrics were so cliched they almost make you wince, too. Can't recommend this at all.

I dearly love Emerald Rain. If someone can show me a CD from 1997 which even comes close to this, I might just try to lick my balls. 'Broken Saviours' hits you like a pack of bricks with a crisp, melodic and hard driving riff... and the party starts. The chorus flies at you with a wall of melodies and you know instantly you have a clear-cut winner. 'Heart of Stone' is melodic hard rock excellence, 'In My Eyes' is a stunning ballad- perfect track, 'Heaven's Light' is almost as good, 'Heart on the

Line' is Harem Scarem-esque melodic hard rock, 'High Road to Nowhere' is the album's only filler and is crap, 'Desperation Sleeps' is also beautiful, 'Dream Angel' is the albums best track - a killer melodic hard rocker, 'Fortune Never Found' is great, 'Misery Loves Company' is another wonderful ballad and the closer 'When You Go' is ultra melodic. When all is said and done you have killer melodic hard rock songs, impeccable musicianship and although the vocals are not great, EVERYTHING else is.

I love Dare, Fair Warning, and Jaded Heart, and these guys aren't in the same ballpark at all. Have to agree with MelodicBoy, just a run of the mill band, not at all special. Apparently some people find something to like about Emerald Rain, but I cannot fathom what it is. I had this CD and sold it after a short while and it is not missed at all.

From: Geoff Date: March 5, 2005 at 17:59
I can't really fathom what people like about Emerald Rain either. It's certainly not the bone-crunching riffs not dissimilar to prime Dokken, pre-choruses with so many hooks most bands would just pause and pass that as a chorus, actual choruses so melodic and with so many layers you feel like you're being swooped at by a dozen magpies at once, melodies and harmonies so perfectly excecuted you can do little but listen in awe. Yeah, I just can't pick what some people might like about this band.

Parecidos a Jaded y Fair?. No lo creo

From: juan carlos Date: June 3, 2006 at 22:50
Cierto beto, influenciadísimos por H.S. Excelente producción, buenos riffs y solos tambien. 8/10

Yes, HAREM SCAREM circa MOOD SWINGS and DOKKEN are both the best references for this one. Powerful guitars and choruses here and there, and you have a great CD.4.25 is a very low rating ,at least it deserves an 8. BROKEN SAVIOURS, HEART OF STONE, MISERY LOVES COMPANY and the awesome DREAM ANGEL, the SONGS, and like GEOFF said, HIGH ROAD...is the only filler here.

From: kipjuanjo Date: February 5, 2007 at 12:37

Hmm...I see so many of you comparing Emerald rain to Harem Scarem. I don't see the musical comparison and I really like both bands. This release is by far Emerald Rain's best offering. Great guitar work and as most groups first albums just a quality raw sound. They seemed to mellow over the next couple of albums. None of them are particularly bad just a bit mellower. If you have to have one this is the album to get !!

Great guitar sound, catchy choruses, it'sjust too bad the voice isn't in the same league than the rest. Still, great album!

Man, I really like these guys ! The first two album kick !! Dead on with the Harem Scarem sound from the Mood Swings album. This is one of the best debut album I've heard. These guys are technically gifted in every area but the guitar work and the melody's are top notch. This is a must have for teh melodic rock aficiando. 93/100

I had to re-review this band as I had been listening to it recently and realized just how good they really were (or maybe it's all the crap that has been coming out lately that has changed my mind).

Like an emerald-eyed temptress stripping down to her negligee and sucking you in with that come-hither glance, this CD reaches out from the stereo to the ears of melodic hard rock lovers everywhere and they simply cannot resist its powerful allure. Everyone compares these guys to Harem Scarem and far be it from me to rain on their parade, because that description is as dead-on accurate as a sniper's bullet. If you consider clean guitars, polished production, razor-sharp hooks, and multi-layered harmony vocals to be worthy of worship, prepare to bow down before these melodic hard rock messiahs.

From: hair metal again Date: October 27, 2014 at 3:50
pretty good debut by EMERALD RAIN back in 97!guitar driven ,commercial hard rock music by musos that liked heavy metal music in their youth!nice riffs, hooks and some good songs are offered here, but the whole result isnt as hard rockin as it should..."heart on the line","heaven s light","broken saviours" and "in my eyes " are the highlights!nice little addition

From: 123charpenay Date: December 7, 2016 at 14:01
excellent canadian melodic hard rock.emerald rain is a mix of harem scarem and steve holliday(doctor rock and the wild bunch).only excellent songs in this record, the production is clear and strong, with big sound and big guitars.all the songs are very catchy with super choruses. the two ballads (tracks 7 and 11) are top class hard rock ballads.this cd is hightly recommanded for fans of excellent and mighty hard rock music.
