I'd love to hear opinions on this disc! Victory are one of my favorite bands of all time and I simply love all their releases up until 'Voiceprint' That album I think is excellent but not quite as good as their previous ones. I anticipated this one more than any in the last decade... but am sad to say it didn't deliver for me. Why? Musically rock solid, but where are the traditional Victory backing vocals? The huge hooks? There are some great straight forward hard rock songs here, but my... cont

...dissapointment is summed up in one thought - the guys did not write the songs! Whilst I believe Tommy and Herman wrote all the music, all lyrics were left up to Tommy's wife... I believe. That's all very nice, but to me it's just not the real Victory. This is a great riff driven hard rock album, and under another title is great! But this is Victory! I expected the best and feel I didn't get it. Dearly hope there is another because I think this band is sensational. A+ class.

From: Geoff Date: January 23, 2005 at 7:18
Sorry - one last thought. I like Charlie Huhn's voice, but Victory are one of those bands I feel were made with the second coming of vocalists. Fernando Garcia, IMO, is on the 3 best Victory albums 'Culture', 'Temples' and 'You bought it' and I think he is the true voice of Victory. Basically, I hate to say it but Wicked Sensation's 'Exceptional' is a far better disc than this one and I'd like to see Fernando back with Victory to top all previous albums!

From: z4roxx Date: January 23, 2005 at 18:17
Geoff, agree with your 3 best Victory cd's,they are my fave, too.I didn't like this one too much, solid cd yes but in little poor traditional hard rock/heavy.I can save only some songs, decent,IMO.BTW Victory one of the best in Germany.Do you like the Moon'doc debut cd?

From: Geoff Date: January 24, 2005 at 3:22
Yeah z4roxx, I'm a big fan of the frist two Moon'Doc CDs-especially the first. What kind of Victory fan would I be if I wasn't?! I think the best Victory-esque band of all is certainly Crystal Ball though.Their first 2 albums are in the sweet traditon of Victory to a tee,and both are brilliant.I agree too, Victory, along with Casanova,Bonfire,Jaded Heart- Damn! I thought that'd be easy, but with PC69 and others, if you look at it honestly, Germany is probably best musical source in the world!

From: z4roxx Date: January 26, 2005 at 14:39
Geoff,agree with your fave bands but I must add other 100 bands,my like list is too vast!ahahaha!!don't forget(if you agree)bands ad JoJo,Roko,EZ Livin'ect..(to mentione German bands).In Switzerland,well..Crystall Ball super Godz!I love China,last Gotthard,Stairway(only ep),GunShy another f*****g awesome!(and other).But you already know what's my fave Suisse band,try to say???

From: Geoff Date: January 27, 2005 at 2:57
Perhaps Transit? Yeah, both countries are home to some amazing bands. I can't believe I forgot to mention Frontline in the German bands!!! Unforgivable! As you say, 100s more though, like Shylock. And these days Shakra (Swiss I believe???) are another of my fave Swiss bands. But certainly two great musical nations.

From: z4roxx Date: January 27, 2005 at 14:02
Great Geoff,were Transit as well!!Oh yeah,Frontline one of my fave,Shylock/pyronized awesome(I haven't the others 2 cd's).yes,Shakra are Suisse,not impressed from them but with"rising"they're entry to the"olympus bands"ahahaha!!I didn't forget also Number Nine,one of my fave in Germany,too.

sorry fellas charlie huhn has been around much longer then fernando charlie has been with bigger bands before victory and in better bands after victory bar none charlie huhn was the voice of victory p.s i live in same city as charlie huhn detroit rocks

From: z4roxx Date: February 8, 2005 at 12:23
Personally I prefer Garcia as voice, but C.Huhn is pretty good in Deadringer...

From: ratt1513 Date: November 2, 2005 at 2:45
everyone gets old, this cd is not so strong as before ,but not bad! Huhn's voice is more like aerosmith's vocal-steven tylor! they are a great band although this cd is not so good, but i like!

From: sarah-b Date: November 15, 2005 at 1:48
If you love Victory - you'll als love CANNON too. This is another great german band (also from Hannover) in the same vein.

From: Remastered Reason Date: January 25, 2008 at 22:46
Though he has played also for the likes of Ted Nugent, Humble Pie, & Victory, Charlie Huhn made an exellent decision when becoming the frontman for the surely missed & loved "Lonesome" Dave Peverett of Foghat. He has a good rock/blues/boogie vocal & he definitely fits with them. Thanks to Charlie for really rockin' in a killer band & keepin' Foghat live & kickin'.

I really, really like this CD. Sure not as much as the Fernando releases which are absolute classics, but this is as Geoff says, straightforward hard rock songs. "Starman", "Plastic Hero", "Riding Low", all killer riff driven hard rock at it's finest. I've had since not long after it came out, and I STILL listen to it regularly. Don't overlook this simply because it's not the Fernando-era Victory. This is absolutely killer!

From: Metal T Date: February 8, 2009 at 12:28
Personal introduction to Victory came w/Charlie Huhn on vox on 'Don't Get Mad Get Even',so his return back in '03 on this disc was a d*mn welcome one for me.So ive always prefered that guy at the mic.Not their best but a solid no bs album nonetheless that still sounds great...

From: AndyCODE Date: June 15, 2009 at 11:30
Hehe, just OTHER band. As 4 me, much better (musically) than the old one... IMO. May be because of newer sound, or modern interpretation?

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 5, 2011 at 22:56
Yeah this album rocks real good, maybe not Victory's best release but quite enjoyable IMO...about the issue between Fernando and Charlie...well for me Fernando is a great singer and Charlie has a really nice tone of voice and apart from that has been in really relevant acts/musicians such as Ted Nugent,Humble Pie and Foghat(reaffirming Remastered Reason's comment of 2008) ...in general lines both have been remarkable for the sound Victory has delivered through the years...nowadays Victory has another singer(Jioti Parcharidis)...well my fave tracks in here are "Running Scared"(rocks!!!),"Plastic Hero","Another Notch In The Bedspot","Victorias Secret","Instinct" & "Riding Low"...recommended...88/100
