First release with vocalist Lance King (The King's Machine), who is also owner of Nightmare Records. King became the vocalist when the band sent a demo recording of new songs to Nightmare Records in hopes of a new label deal. King, when asked if he knew of any vocalists, responded with "I'm your new vocalist!" More melodic metal than progressive with Malmsteen-like guitar solos. This also features vaguely Christian lyrics.

With members from "VANDAMNE" you can't go wrong. Pete Southern (Englands answer to Malmsteen),Lance King's ace vocals and Lionel Hicks drumming (one of rocks top 5 drummers) you can't go wrong. Buy this you won't be wrong. Can't pick just one song off of this release as a stand out. They all rock!!!!!!

Outstanding, powerful and very melodic rock. A little keyboard heavy - which is cool - and a very different sound. vocals are excellent! For fans of Dream Theater or Queensryche with more pop.

Best thing money can buy, absolute 10/10!! As for prjects of them,USM are mediocre,Pride rule and Empire are very good too with a Mark Boals cooperation

Balance of Power have announced that they have parted company with vocalist Lance King. The band has since engaged a new and internationally known lead singer and when the legal details are finalised a further press release will be issued. Details will also be given regarding the band's new record label in the USA once contracts are signed.

Prog fans will love this record. It has all the essential ingredients: Huge keyboards, crunching guitars, fast riffs and big epic instrumentals, strong vocals and that familiar medieval theme. Add to that a monstrous DDD recording and this record is a winner. Prog haters stand clear - but I am sure that is plain to see by now. But fans should embrace this now.

Recently Balance of Power was brought to my attention . I comepletely fell in love with them! Quickly has become one of my favorites along with Queensryche and Wicked Synn ! Catchy choruses, great melodies, great vocal range, and awesome musicianship got me hooked.Very different from most christian metal bands.First class all the way!!!

Disco para darle sus buenas escuchas, Me recuerdan a Dream Theater(a la voz de LaBrie tb), Queensryche, Savatage.. Muy bien producidos, lo malo es que hay temas un par de temas muy largos que se me hace repetitivos. Solo 8 temas + 1 intro, "When Heaven Calls your Name" con un tremendo solo, "It's Not Over" y "Do You Dream Of Angels" son mis super-favoritas. La 7 es bien riffera pero repetitiva, la 8 es bien técnica pero muy larga. Tony o´hora y Tony Ritchie en los Backing vocals. 8.6/10

One of perhaps a dozen albums in my collection that deserves a perfect 10. Lance King's crystal clear vocals are shiver-like perfect, Lionel Hicks' drums hard and heavy and Pete Southern solos strike notes that are just right. But the songs and melodies are what really shines. If you write tunes of this caliber, you can't go wrong. If I had to define the style, it would be something along the lines of melodic prog metal. Stunning.

I love bands such as Balance Of Power.Easy and catchy riffs, impressive melodies, not the samey generic tunes even if they don't discover nothin'Ok,but Lance King is a good singer(I LOVE Gemini, too!)and musicianship are all very good.Personally my fave release rest their debut because I remember the day I did buy it in 1997....

From: z4roxx Date: June 5, 2007 at 12:40
BTW this is an excellent piece of melodic class metal(where is prog here I don't know). If you like bands such as Vandamne or Monarch this is a must,my fave here is"It's not over".9/10!
