Very generic sounding disc with very little effort put into the song writing. It's a damn shame when one of the guitar greats has song writer's block! Pick up anything else from McAuley/Schenker, but not this! 4.0 rating at best.

From: Dragonfly Date: December 15, 2001 at 8:52
I liked this release. I guess not everybody can like the same thing but this release has alot to offer. It may be commercial but it works.

From: Baris Date: September 11, 2002 at 6:50
Strong melodies, good rockin and an all-star jam. It also includes powerful ballads as 'This Night Is Gonna Last Forever'. This album won't upset you.

From: ROB GARCIA Date: January 19, 2003 at 12:30
i cant believe very few msg fans like this album.this is one of the best things mr schenker has laid his hands on and robin mc auley sings with a lot of passion in this one.my favorite msg album by a mile.

From: The Fizzy One Date: July 15, 2003 at 23:19
'Never-Ending Nightmare' is a cool song ...

From: Rocker76 Date: October 15, 2003 at 16:26
This album has one of the Top 10 ballads of the late 80s/early 90s: When I'm Gone. Killer ballad from one of the best bands of the 80s. The whole album is good - not necessarily Schenker's best guitar work but a good overall sound. He and McAuley are a good combo!!

From: Adam BlackHeart Date: November 26, 2003 at 19:17
I think, it's a very nice album. Very good compositions, good melodies and incredible voice of Robin McAuley... I love the lirycs like 'I got my sights on a brand new target/ Pretty as a flower / She's got long long legs...'. That's what I call rock'n'roll. And what bout songs? I love 'Eve', 'When I'm gone', 'Crazy', 'This Night...', 'Nightmare'... Damn, everythink is f...in' great. Good work.

From: kcallen5 Date: December 23, 2003 at 20:29
I was so juiced when I heard Eve - it was such a killer first track and exactly what I was hoping for on the disc. The rest of the disc just never did it for me. The songwriting and the guitar playing were just on two completely different planes - no gel. Nightmare - you just want him to keep wailing for another minute or so at the outro solo. Bummer. Check out Written in the Sand - probably his best effort in the 90's. cya

From: luislpaez Date: January 4, 2004 at 22:40
A jewel!!! Expensive: $32.00 plus shipping by AMAZON.COM Killer ballads. Great musicians. Jeff and James---cool complement

From: jchardrock Date: January 8, 2004 at 16:39
This is a great album. The songwritnig is great. Songs like When I'm Gone and Never Ending Nightmare will take you to another world. Don't believe those who say this album is bad.

THE BEST MSG ALBUM EVER..................PERIOD

From: Metal Pete Date: February 19, 2004 at 11:23
No. Robin does not even deserve to be in the same room as Graham Bonnet.

From: AOR freaky Date: February 19, 2004 at 12:54
Fantastic album, probably the best mr. Schenker has ever released. Rob has it right again and Metal Pete, sorry, you're so wrong. Robin has a great voice, better thann Graham ! A must have !

From: Metal Pete Date: February 19, 2004 at 13:05
I don't even know what to say. SAying Robin sounds better than Graham is like saying Def Leppard's 'Slang' album is better than 'Pyromania'. LOL

From: Blue Charvel Date: February 19, 2004 at 17:13
Personally I hate Robin's vocals. I much prefer the earlier Schenker stuff when it was more hard rock than AOR. But hey, that's just my opinion...

From: MJ (Marla) Date: February 19, 2004 at 17:44
Hmmm.....well Blue....looks like we disagree on this one!! (SHOCK!!! lol) I love this album.....have from the first time I heard 'When I'm Gone'....but that one struck for personal reasons....the rest of the album I've come to love....it wasn't instant. The other favorites are 'Crazy' and 'What Happens To Me'.

From: Christine Date: February 19, 2004 at 18:30
This is a tough one... I love all 3 releases w/Robin, and I'm a big fan of Graham as well. To me, it's just like two different bands w/Schenker - love 'em both!

From: Max Date: March 28, 2004 at 23:43
I love this album. The melodies are fantastic.

From: SCHENKER Date: May 10, 2004 at 0:24
MICHAEL SCHENKER IS THE BEST AXEMASTER OF THE WORLD, SINCE HE PLAY IN SCORPIONS AND BEFORE IN UFO, ROBIN SINGS GREAT, JEFF PILSON CRANK HIS BASS BEST THAN DOKKEN, JAMES KOTTAK PLAY AT HIS BEST. THIS CD IS A MASTER PIECE, SONGS LIKE WHEN I'M GONE ARE THE BEST POWERFULL BALLAD IN THE WORLD, THIS NIGHT IS GONNA LAST FOREVER IS FOR GRISELDA. (1 ALWAYS.

From: Scandinavia Date: May 15, 2004 at 5:06
Not a bad album at all! It lacks some hooks here and there but overall it's a very professional piece of Hard Rock....

From: Big Papa K Date: June 14, 2004 at 1:59
This is the hardest rocking of the McAuley era, but that does not make it the best. An improvement over Save Yourself with some good songs such as 'Eve', 'Never Ending Nightmare', and 'Paradise'. 6/10

From: suannan Date: July 4, 2004 at 5:26
today, i get it from EBAY ~~ l like it.

From: Scandinavia Date: July 4, 2004 at 6:59
How much did you pay for this album via Ebay??

From: TIM (2) Date: July 29, 2004 at 4:54
I've seen this go for £4/5 from eBay so shouldn't be expensive. It is very very good though and very pop-sounding, some top class songs with big hooks and catchy choruses. I love 'Paradise' and the harmonies on 'This Night is Gonna Last Forever' particularly, but only opener 'Eve' is a little too cheesy for my liking, otherwise highly recommended. 8.5/10.

From: Joan Date: August 15, 2004 at 17:51
Junto con 'Perfect timing' mi favorito de toda la discografia de MSG. Robin McAuley se luce en cada una de las canciones de este genial disco. Quizás le falta la caña de 'Perfect timing', pero contiene algunas de las mejores baladas q he escuchado: 'we believe in love', 'this night is gonna last forever', 'what happens to me', 'when i'm gone'...

From: Rockman Date: October 29, 2004 at 8:30
This album is a great improvement after 'save yourself'. Don't mean to say 'save yourself' is bad, but they've done better job here. 'Eve' is a good start for an album. I also like 'we believe in love' and 'what happen to me'. Those are really great romantic songs. Jeff Pilson and James Kottak are great musicians.

From: TED POLENTA Date: November 6, 2004 at 0:40
ROBIN is THE MAN! What a FANTASTIC VOICE! It looks like KLAUS MEINE meets SEBASTIAN BACK meets DEE SNIDER and the result is POWERFULL!!! Their HEAVIEST and BEST album by far! Schenker is just a single guitar player on this one, cause all the songs here were written by the Genious Robin McCauley! EVE starts kicking all MOTHER'S ASSES and it goes till the end of the album! BUY IT OR YOU'LL NEVER KNOW HOW TO ROCK HARD!

From: Lance Date: December 2, 2004 at 23:56
As for MSG I only have this, 'Save Yourself', and 'Assault Attack' on vinyl and can't recall ever even listening to it! I get a bunch of music at once and some just get lost in the shuffle. Anyway, I love this album, but I'm surprised people single out 'Crazy' which is a little too dark for me. 'Eve' is an awesome rocker, but I bought it for 'When I'm Gone' and prefer the ballads. For what it's worth, 'This Is My Heart' from 'Save Yourself' is a great tune in my opinion. Rock on!

From: Geoff Date: January 4, 2005 at 5:36
This is the only other MSG album I have, and I love it. Very commercial - very good. 'When I'm gone' is a lovely melodic rocker and 'This broken heart' is superb! Huge backing vocals and excellent musicianship. I've always had a very soft spot for the mammoth ballad 'This night is gonna last forever' - a truly magical ballad. Those three tracks thrill me but this is overall a great sounding peice of melodic hard rock.

From: waylon Date: January 7, 2005 at 23:45
Another great release from McAuley Schenker! I got this used for about $7.00 and I didn't expect much but it blew me away. I had save yourself on cd which I thought was ok but it made me search out Perfect Timing and after listening to all three I can't believe I didn't pay more attention to these guys back in the day. I've always been kind of partial to Grand Prix with Robin McAuley and UFO with Schenker. Don't know why I never put 2 and 2 together. Oh well it's good to know I can still discove

From: waylon Date: January 7, 2005 at 23:48
r music I may have missed out on before. This sure as heck beats a lot of the stuff that passes for music these days!

From: Nude Enthusiast Date: February 13, 2005 at 11:40
Great melodic disc. Some terrific ballads here, great hooks

From: Remastered Reason Date: January 16, 2006 at 14:30
Well, Well. This has Schenkers' most heaviest & commercial sound of the the three McCauley albums, all wrapped up into one tidy package. Still, a trendy album with power ballads that would offend most who consider Schenker's best solo work to be in the early 80's & certainly with UFO. However, for the melodic at heart, this cd is a winner.

From: metalguf Date: April 24, 2006 at 7:34
This is my favorite album with 'MSG' Wonderful songs!!!

From: WookieEnthal Date: July 11, 2009 at 4:04
Another great disc by a great band...I can never get enough of it or the other 2. I don't care for 900f the ballads that pollute the airwaves to this day (thank you Hairnation and Boneyard :rolleyes but I love any ballad MSG did...they manage to make their ballads powerful and that is hard to do IMO. A must have in any melodic collection.

From: Doug Date: February 23, 2010 at 11:21
Just picked this up yesterday, got it for a bargain at $8.00. Not a bad CD, but not necessarily great. Some good riffs, but nothing memorable. McAuley's voice seems a bit rougher on this one and Schenker's playing a bit subdued. Kottak, Pilson, Schenker and McAuley, man what a line up, should have been a killer album. Oh well.

From: underworld king Date: January 11, 2012 at 21:14
My favorite of the three McAuley Schenker Group albums. I have the Assault Attack album by MSG and although it's quite good (I love Graham Bonnet with Rainbow, Alcatrazz etc) I prefer the Robin McAuley era of MSG . I need to check out the stuff with Gary Barden as I hear it's quite good. I am looking forward to the MSG 2012 USA tour with Robin McAuley on vocals.

From: the rocker Date: January 11, 2012 at 22:00
Underworld king, Where are you from?

From: newscandi Date: January 11, 2012 at 22:05
My favourite McAuley SG album is 'Perfect timing'. I don't like the hard rock edgedstuff more the softer side (more in direction of AOR territory ). And I find the 2nd & 3rd releases are a bit too heavy here and there.

From: the rocker Date: January 11, 2012 at 22:22
I love all 3 w/ McAuley on vocals. Perfect Timing is my favorite and Save Yourself & then this one. The standouts on this one are When I'm Gone(my favorite), Eve, This Broken Heart, Paradise, We Believe In Love, This Night Is Gonna Last Forever & Crazy. I recommend.

From: underworld king Date: January 12, 2012 at 20:50
The Rocker, I am originally from San Antonio, Texas. How about you?

From: the rocker Date: January 12, 2012 at 22:59
I am about an hour & a half outside Boston MA. and about 45 minute away from one of the shows that MSG are playing in the USA. I can't wait for it!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 1, 2012 at 20:09
I simply love this record!!!...i think that Robin did a great job while in the band without any shadow of a doubt and this album proves it quite well...killer tracks such as 'Eve','This Broken Heart','Crazy','Invincible'(whatta song!),'Lonely Nights'(catchy)& 'This Night Is Gonna Last Forever'(nice solid mid tempo) are gonna make you jump out of your bed!!!...no more else to say but to buy it!!!...93/100

From: newscandi Date: February 5, 2012 at 17:28
I like to lie IN my bed hearing the melody of THIS NIGHT IS GONNA LAST FOREVER. Nevertheless I understand your point. You wanna be a rock star like this

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 5, 2012 at 17:40
Hey newscandi...I'M ALREADY A ROCK STAR!!!...jejeje...just kidding...cheers mate

From: hair metal again Date: March 21, 2012 at 3:27
fantastic release by MSG back in 92!Michael s sound is excellent ,Robin vocs passionate and the rest of the band is full of stars too!Kevin Beamish polishes the sound and shows the best of some great MSG songs like "when i m gone","crazy","eve","this night is gonna last forever" and "this broken heart"!amazing hair metal release!

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: March 24, 2012 at 13:24
Overall, I'm not a big fan of this incarnation of MSG. They just don't sound convincing doing this style of music to me, and Robin McAuley sounds like Steve Perry with a mouthful of shit. However! The song "Never-Ending Nightmare" is great, and McAuley sings it with this palpable sense of fear and dread. An outstanding, very sinister performance, almost makes you wonder if the character in the song killed the girl he sings about.

From: blackkblade5 Date: August 9, 2014 at 11:02
first THIS IS NOT AOR...BRIAN SPENCE,STAN BUSH,SURVIVOR IS AOR.. this is hard/heavy music. And this mcauley/schenker act is way better than the Graham Bonnet screaming nightmare and the gary barden weak sound albums, this is like gift from the gods, just love all their stuff, great melodic songs, heavy and fast, good ballads, fantastic solos...well folks you can't go wrong with this cd

From: 123charpenay Date: March 18, 2016 at 17:09
this record smell the end of the road for the mc auley schencker group.four ballads on eleven tracks.hum it s a little too much.ok tracks 8 and 11 are absoluty exceptional.the two others ballads track 3 and 10 are excellent.but where is the hard rock?track one is a perfect opener a great hard rock song.but the others hard rock songs ,tracks 6.7 and 9 are very very very average.absoluty not at the same level than their two last realises.the other songs are great yes very great but not extraordinary.this record is the sign of the end of a cycle.no bonus track on the japan import.

From: BDrums1971 Date: November 25, 2021 at 2:52
This is a pretty good release and I listen to it occasionally, but I feel the definitive mcauley schenker group disc was Save Yourself. That was a masterpiece to me. This one is just not as well done. Some of the musicians have changed since the Save Yourself album, so that might be an issue, but some songs just feel lackluster and hard to get into. After Save Yourself, I was hoping for a little better. The production is really good and Robin sings very well, but I noticed also some of the lyrics are a little on the cheesy side. Still a good release, just not up to par with the mighty Save Yourself.

From: MelodicMetal4Ever Date: December 3, 2021 at 2:04
MAN!! that song "Eve"...you will be singing that song out loud and in your head for a LONNNNGGGG time!! Rest is awesome GREAT cd! Love Robin's voice.
