After being a bit disappointed by the last album, Generation Me, I'm digging this latest from the Treatment. Tom Rampton makes his debut as the band's third singer, and reminds more of Matt Jones, their original vocalist on the first two records, with a little bit of a higher-pitched Josh Todd thing going on as well. His voice perfectly fits the music, which is s still the revved-up-but-melodic, AC/DC offshoot. There are a couple slower bluesy tracks, but no ballads, and not an acoustic or "clean" guitar in sight on the album proper. Power Crazy is easily on a par with This Might Hurt, but I still think Running With The Dogs is their best release so far. Favorite songs here are "Let's Get Dirty," "Rising Power" (not an AC/DC cover), "On The Money," "Hang Them High" and "Laying It Down," but there's reallly nothing bad here, except the two bonus tracks, which are unplugged versions of "Let's Get Dirty" and 'Bite Back." Neither song works especially well in that context, but oh well. |

Excellent & Clean Production, The Treatment has Attitude, Vibe & very good Hard Rock straight to your face. Perhaps nothing new to offer but the energy is there and "Bite Back" & "Let's Get Dirty" are good examples of that. 85/100 |

I remember when the first album came out, there was a lot of hype in the British music press for this band being the next big thing, and the saviours of the British rock scene. I loved the debut and the follow up, and saw them live and have to say they were great. But as time has gone on, less and less people were talking about them and I was becoming less and less interested in their output to the point I stopped buying their albums as they came out. I had decided recently though to buy the albums I had missed out on and Power Crazy was the first one in their discography that I missed. Weirdly, despite being on Frontiers it became increasingly difficult to find for a reasonable price, but last week I managed to source a cheaper copy. Have to say it has kinda left me flat. It just chugs along like a poor mans AC/DC or Airbourne with no real hooks. Nothing inherently wrong with the songs, just not memorable.Maybe its down to the revolving door of singers, but long gone are the glory days |
