hi guyz, i'm writing these lines because i'm looked to this page and saw that no one write a comment to the FANTASTIC boulevard's debut album... yeah, this is a real AOR/FM masterpiece, with cool tracks like DREAM ON, IN THE TWILIGHT or YOU'RE FOR ME, great tracks of a great but sadly forgotten band.... We all want a Boulevard's reunion, why don't them get back together ??

From: Gabi Date: January 1, 2002 at 8:57
This is AOR, this GOOD MUSIC!!!

From: Gabi Date: January 1, 2002 at 8:59
Ah! Far From Over, Western, Skies In the Twilight, Under the Moonlight...Are VERY HITS SONGS!!!

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 14, 2002 at 11:12
Me pille el disco por el tema Dream On(alucinante),los demas bajan el nivel, practican un AOR del que yo denomino frio,al estilo Cannata(Images of Forever)o Bite the Bullet por poner un ejemplo.PARA FANATICOS DEL AOR.

From: koogles Date: August 29, 2002 at 9:29
So polished and smooth, you'd swear they were in the Cadillac buffing business before they were rock stars. This is as fine a West Coast AOR CD as any Canadian band has ever made. 'Far From Over' is one of the most perfect AOR songs ever. Glistening keys, soaring vocals and just enough guitar edge makes this a true winner! If you like this band, check out any or all of the following Canadian acts: Worrall (s/t), Renegade (Back From The Dead), Prism (Jericho), Eye Eye (Common Ground).

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 16, 2002 at 7:58
Another AOR masterpiece. Again a true CLASSIC in every sense of the word. On the same level as their second masterstrike. What a pity these guys never made it big, because they are one of the all time great AOR bands. BUY both their CD's, because they're ESSENTIAL !!!!!!!!!!

From: vrob71 Date: September 21, 2002 at 3:44
Essential for all AOR fans. YOU MUST GET THIS CD. The second one, too.

From: Kim Date: October 6, 2002 at 0:59
I LOVE the song 'Far From Over'!!!! I can't seem to find somewhere to download it though. If anyone could help me out...

From: Nad Date: October 8, 2002 at 13:15
My friend Q loves that far from over song too.

From: PARA 9 CHAMPION Date: October 28, 2002 at 11:06

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: October 28, 2002 at 12:28

From: Gabi Date: January 1, 2003 at 16:16

From: Gabi Date: January 1, 2003 at 16:19

From: Piotrek ΠDate: January 8, 2003 at 23:10
I didn't heart full album yet, I'm writing this comments, after hearin' only one song called ''dream on '', i heard only one song, not because i don't own other, but i know this track will be lasts forever! Awsome band, i'd say BEST OF THE BEST......

From: AOR freaky Date: November 24, 2003 at 7:23
Brilliant stuff once again. This is keyboard AOR at its very, very best ! Their second is more mature, a true AOR jewel ! BOTH CD'S are CLASSICS ! Fantastic band, now some member are in First Shot, also an act to look out for ! Not as good as this BOULEVARD, but worth checking out ! THIS IS A MUST !

From: Relik Date: December 11, 2003 at 21:42
These guys were the greatest! love all their stuff, just wish there was MORE!!!

From: Gaz Date: December 22, 2003 at 16:30
Very smooth AOR with great hooks and amazingly great Keyboard lines. One of my definite all time favourites, and is very similar to the follow up which is also an absolute AOR classic! Hard to pick between the two. This is more 'Keyboardy', the other is more guitar driven, but both very much in the same vein.

From: Ratt Date: January 6, 2004 at 21:25
Hehehe...Bombastic album this Boulevard - Self-Titled 1988!!!

From: Rycheage Date: February 20, 2004 at 0:47
Other than the final song, the CD is spot-on excellent. My favorites are 'Dream On', 'In The Twilight', and 'Under The Moonlight'. This is pure polished AOR at its best. The vocals, and musicianship are top notch. My advice is to buy. EBay is not too bad on this now.

From: jsm Date: March 4, 2004 at 12:19
To Rycheage: Its just my opinion, but I think last song, 'You're for me', is great too!!

From: Mr.NiceGuy Date: March 17, 2004 at 5:04
I wish I could find their video's. I remember watching 'Never Give Up'. If anyone has any of their songs in MP3 format, share it on Kazaa, ok?

From: bateman Date: April 22, 2004 at 8:12
this is truly an aor masterpiece, mostly keyboard driven. the second on 'into the street' is also great, but more guitar-style. anyway you've got to own both, this one for songs like 'far from over' or 'in the twilight' (great chorus), the second album because of 'lead me on' and 'a rainy day in london' (great great ballad, believe me!). still own their - i believe - first maxi cd: 'dream on'. got to play that again. great stuff.

From: AOR freaky Date: May 6, 2004 at 10:39
Keyboard heaven !!!!! BRILLIANT !

From: Carlomagno Date: May 26, 2004 at 12:08
Please anyone!! where could I get this cd? Thanks!!

From: from 9 champion Date: June 6, 2004 at 7:43

From: rocky Date: September 20, 2004 at 7:30
to Carlomagno......i just got this one from AOR-HEAVEN, try there.... this is a masterpiece, major league like Strangeways and Red Dawn....get it if you can, you can`t afford not to have this cd.

From: lary Date: October 10, 2004 at 19:22
anyone know what these guys are doing today? any info on them at all???????????

From: MikeL Date: January 6, 2005 at 20:22
I don't think this one can touch Into the Streets. For me there is no stand out songs. Decent but not great.

From: Teer Date: January 7, 2005 at 2:40
You are spot on Mike. Ok album this one but nothing outstanding. Into the Streets now is a CLASSIC. One of the best Aor releases ever IMO.

From: Wotty Date: March 3, 2005 at 5:37
Storming album !!!!

From: Geoff Date: March 14, 2005 at 21:42
This is another band I could add to my list of AOR bands I enjoy. Yes, it's lite and there are a lot of keys, but these guys have some great songs. I remember being quite taken aback by the first song as I was not expecting much and it is great. I wouldn't call this a classic, but I would call it a very good AOR disc.

From: Swriter Date: March 19, 2005 at 11:46
thanks Freaky, Erik, and Jez, just ordered this one on ebay!!! Why r the good ones so hard to find!!!!

From: swriter Date: March 24, 2005 at 17:01
wowzie wowsie woo woo!!!!! thanks Guys!!!!!! man, is this a good one. Dream On, Far, Never, Moonlight. Now I am not sure which one I like better, both!!!! This one is more key oriented then the second album. Fantastic!!! thanks again to all that mentioned this one

From: AOR freaky Date: March 25, 2005 at 2:27
Glad you like it, swriter ! I knew this one was for you ! Indeed, keyboard heaven !

From: The Dolphin Date: April 13, 2005 at 17:08
An AOR masterpiece! For me is better than the second release!

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Jez Date: June 10, 2005 at 5:30
I have always preferred 'Into The Street' to this one (just) as I find it a more complete release songwise and holds up a little better overall, especially nowadays. This does feature one of my all time fave Boulevard tracks though in the brilliant 'Never Give Up'. That said, this is still a superb, quality album, done only the way most of the quality Canadian bands of the era knew how , and for a debut is a remarkable feat.

From: ninjapeter Date: July 23, 2005 at 4:44
I'm not impressed with this band. Poor album. Pure fluff and shallow songs. Where is the passion? Lacking heart and soul. I am selling my copy. I rate this album a 4/10 sorry.

From: AOR freaky Date: July 23, 2005 at 4:51
I'm sorry for your, ninjapeter, if you don't like this one. I prefer their 'Into the street', cause it has more depth, but this is brilliant keyboard dominated AOR ! I wish that todays acts could offer the same, cause even Blanc Faces can't compete with this release ! STUNNING !

From: ArnoldLancelot Date: August 1, 2005 at 0:23
This is when we start talking about Classics! I would personally rate this one even better than their Into the Streets because of a more joyful and happy mood in it. Certainly 1 or 2 tracks lacks its highness but the songwriting's weight make it stands up still today. TIMELESS! and ESSENTIAL for any self respected AOR collector!

From: PAUL Date: August 24, 2005 at 11:22
HELLO NINJAPETER.I'VE MANY QUESTION FOR YOU.ONE OF THE BEST AOR/FM ALBUMS IS POOR?SHALLOW SONGS,NOT PASSION HERE?DON'T YOU LIKE KEYSBOARDS?ARE YOU AOR OR ALTERNATIVE FAN?JUST LET THE PEOPLE WITH TASTE RATE THIS ALBUM WITH 40/10 AND NOT 4/10!SO,GREAT PRODUCTION,PERFECT KEYS,VOCALS SIMILAR TO KEVIN CRONIN(R.E.O. SPEEDWAGON)AND SOME CLASSIC SONGS HERE.JUST LISTEN TO 'FAR FROM OVER'(CHECK THE KEYS BEFORE THE SAX SOLO-AMAZING!),'NEVER GIVE UP'(MY FAV).DON'T NEED TO CONTINUE,EVERY SONG IS AN ANTHEM!

From: ninjapeter Date: September 7, 2005 at 0:41
Hello Paul: Yes this is a poor album. Very gumball music with fuffy and shallow songs. No passion at all. Yes I like keyboards but music needs more than just keyboards to make it have depth. Even if they used a piano once in a while it would be better. I love aor and hate alternative crap. Most aor bands have more substance than this. You think you have more taste than me because I don't like this garbage. But you think you know it all because you do like it, wow.

From: ninjapeter Date: September 7, 2005 at 0:52
Well let me tell you that I play a few instruments and write poetry and some were also published. That's more than you can say I bet. But your opinion counts more than mine right? I even like R.E.O. Speedwagon as you mentioned more than this. Everything on this album is so watered down it has no life left to it. Next time you shouldn't make such judgements on taste because maybe a mirror is needed.

From: ninjapeter Date: September 7, 2005 at 0:58
I also think the rating speaks loudly here. Not a very good album and the people know it.

From: AOR freaky Date: September 7, 2005 at 2:57
I fully agree with Paul on this one ! THis is SUPERB AOR, the way AOR should sound, and it blows away every AOR released these days, included the overrated new Journey one ! Ninjapeter, your taste is different to ours, mate ! WE ARE PURE AOR FREAKS and for a true AOR fan, this is AOR HEAVEN ! Great songs, lots of keys all over the album etc. WE LIKE IT ! THe fact you don't like it, leaves us a bit cold, I'm afraid. Tastes differ, mate !

From: PAUL Date: September 7, 2005 at 15:31
Dear ninjapeter.I can't understand how a true AOR friend can call this album crap. Are 'far from over' and 'never give up' poor and boring songs?Without passion?Only 4/10?GARBAGE????????????All AOR/HARD ROCK sites(check some),all melodic rockers(check above)have the same point of view.50 less or more comments agree with me,nobody accept your opinion.Maybe because this is one of the best AOR/FM albums of all times! Please, try to listen to it carefully one more time and you'll understand us,i'm sure

From: ninjapeter Date: September 10, 2005 at 23:28
Well I played it again and it still does not cut it. I am really sorry if I offend anyone with my comments. This band just leaves me flat because their music sounds way to cutesy and la la to me. The singer sounds like he hasn't gone through puberty yet and has no range to his voice. I don't know why they are even listed as aor because this is totally pop rock. I would compare them to Glass Tiger or Duran Duran. I am even from the same country as the band and still dislike it. Sorry folks. Yuck.

From: ninjapeter Date: September 10, 2005 at 23:32
P.S.- Dear AOR freaky, I have read many of your reviews and usually agree with you but not here. You must hear something in this I don't, sorry.

From: AOR freaky Date: September 12, 2005 at 6:26
THis is a fair as it can, ninjapeter. We all can't like the same stuff. For me the keys are essential here, that's why I like it so much. But I do agree that their second one is more mature. A real classic !

From: HaremScarem Date: March 24, 2006 at 12:03
AOR MASTERPIECE. FAR FROM OVER o UNDER THE MOONLIGHT. En comparación al siguiente, este disco es practicamente igual de bueno, aunque para mi es algo mejor el INTO THE STREETS. CLASSIC AOR ----> 9,25/10

From: kipvanpearcy Date: April 9, 2006 at 11:10
A must have.

From: hardrock90.00 Date: June 11, 2006 at 21:18
This is great AOR. Don´t look to the rating. It's a CD that you must have. I LOVE the song 'under the moonlight', perfect keys, great vocals!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: June 28, 2006 at 12:20
Pucha me lo fundieron con el Ranking Far From Over y Dream On Indiscutiblemente las ganadoras.

From: Aorforever Date: July 27, 2006 at 13:30
Rating: 3.63 out of 10. (568 ratings) WTF!!!!!!! You guys suck! This is a super album!

From: Erik Date: July 27, 2006 at 16:50
Aorforever this is indeed a true classic. 9/10 for me. Some funny boy has been messing with the rates tho.

From: Lovedrive Date: August 4, 2006 at 10:25
Aunque me gusta mas el siguiente, ahí queda esa joyita llamada DREAM ON.

From: shadow51 Date: September 24, 2006 at 14:58

From: Aorforever Date: September 28, 2006 at 6:12
Yea Erik!

From: sanxdowntherainbow Date: April 8, 2007 at 18:39
What the Fu@K is wrong with the rating??! Shit, This should've be 10 out of 10! It's a superb AOR effort from one of the best bands from Canada, "far from over" is the best song ever done by Boulevard, I preffer a little more the second album, because of the song "Eye of the hurricane", but this one still a classic debut 10/10

From: DJRoxygen Date: May 21, 2007 at 14:41
I gave this one a 10, but the average score only went from 3.73 to 3.74. I guess I could stay here all day, giving it 10, but then I'd be as stupid as the guy who had nothing better to do and gave it hundreds of 1's. Fans of Melodic AOR will know this is a near perfect album, so in this case, the rating is really not representative. No AOR collection will ever be complete if this CD is not present. Trust me.

From: DJRoxygen Date: May 21, 2007 at 14:52
By the way, someone mentioned here that this album has no standout tracks. I recommend "Dream On" as a fast-paced rocker with an instant chorus that will simply blow you away; "Far From Over" as one of the best 5 songs of the eighties, and "In the Twilight" as the ballad you should be listening whenever you're making a baby. How's that for standouts? I won't even mention the rest of the album, as you should go buy it and see for yourselves.

From: lalorock Date: June 11, 2007 at 18:40

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: October 14, 2007 at 13:50

From: newscandi Date: July 25, 2008 at 18:33
It's an album on the poppier and more hi-tech side of the AOR genre. "In the twilight" is pure heaven that could be from DARE's "Out of the silence"

From: DanDare Date: August 23, 2008 at 18:34
I had 'Dream On' as a 12" single many years ago. I didn't know anything about the band or the song but loved it and it wan't until I discovered this site that I learnt about the band and just how higly rated this album is. I subsequently bought the album and I can confirm that it is one of my top 5 AOR albums of all time. Essential, essential, essential. How many times does it have to be said? 100/100

yeahp dream on y far from over very nice y todo el album completo

From: RanTert Date: May 10, 2009 at 11:06
Sorry..2nd album "Into the street" is much better than this one.. Some of tracks are too dated sounds..But "Under The Moonlight" and "You're For Me" was good for me..It was almost close to their 2nd album...So, I rate this album 80/100.

Smooth by the numbers melodic rock/AOR. While a few tracks seem a little on the lite side at times, it still is quite enjoyable.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: January 22, 2011 at 18:55
Both band's releases are pretty worth in all the extension of the word..their second one is a bit more consistent, solid, this debut is more into the "poppy" side of AOR..still good though..."Dream On","Far From Over"(nice),"Never Give Up","Under The Moonlight"(nice),"Missing Persons" & "You're For Me" are top notch songs 4 sure..shamely this phenomenal band only lasted 4 two albums ...get it!.91/100

From: titothetitan Date: May 18, 2018 at 10:41
Very decent album. 'Dream On' is a great opener,'Far From Over', 'In the Twilight', 'Missing Persons' are nice but there also some fillers. 80/100
