It´s great..for me is the best album of Asia. The songs are more difficult to listen but they have something special and magic...Downes is the best!!!

From: koogles Date: June 28, 2002 at 9:29
This is definitely a lighter, more mood-driven album than the debut. BARI is right: Downes is the star of the show here and his "Heat Goes On" solo never fails to impress me. Too bad "Daylight" (from the cassette) was omitted from the CD pressing.

From: ThunderDan Date: July 14, 2002 at 12:21
Guys, not sure if you're aware of this, but Geffen just recently released the 4 releases w/ Wetton called 'Antholgia' (Daylight included w/ 2 more b-sides). It's a great 2 CD set. On to Alpha: the album is great. I like it just as much as the debut. 'Don't Cry' and 'Open Your Eyes' are my faves.

muy buen disco me gusta mas que el primero, mas melodico, elaborado y hermoso

From: manos Date: December 29, 2002 at 14:06
I admit that I prefer John Paynes era, but still this album has some great moments and I think this is the best thing asia did with John Wetton. The ''Heat Goes On'' is an anthem, ''Dont Cry'' is a very catchy song you will love, that is an excellent album. I would call this progressive AOR

From: Melodiker Date: January 6, 2003 at 14:15
Seltsamerweise gefällt mir die zweite Scheibe besser als das Debüt.Wird ja immer gesagt, das die erste von Asia die beste ist, aber ich sehe das anders. 9\10

From: Scandinavia Date: October 7, 2003 at 7:45
This is one of those albums you just gotta own...Hmm...But the songs are generally a bit more boring than on the debut...Anyway, a classic!

From: Gar Date: December 24, 2003 at 14:16
For about a year after this was released this was my all time favorite album. My tastes have changed a little over the last 20 years(God, has it been that long?!), but I can honestly say I still love this album(though I don't listen to it nearly as much today as I did back then).

From: kesseldorz Date: January 18, 2004 at 13:03
i think this is a great record, but somehow i like the first album better alltho this one is a bit smoother (mebbe thats why i dont love it as much...), 'my own time' is prolly my favourite song, 'the smile has left ur eyes' is awesome too, many good songs 9/10

From: aordrums Date: February 24, 2004 at 13:39
This is the record I would carry with me to a desert Island. I´ve been enjoying it for all my life and I´m still doing it. There´s something magic in this songs. "My Own Time" is my very prefer. I can´t explain enough to Wetton and Downes what are you gave me with the making of this record. Thanks from the heart.

From: NEGUS MX Date: April 22, 2004 at 19:41
It's a very good album. Specially If you grew up listening this songs. "Don´t cry", "The smile has left your eyes", and "Open your eyes" are lifetime classics.

From: Purevil Date: June 4, 2004 at 13:31
'True colors' is one of the best AOR songs ever!!! Enjoy it, if u don't have it!!!

From: Wotty Date: August 30, 2004 at 18:02
Album number 2,contains some self-indulgent moments and what can only be described as classic pop/rock.But overall a decent follow-up to the mighty debut...

From: jarett r. Date: December 28, 2004 at 19:16
i also just got this album (see my post for asia's self-titled album). again, this reminds me a lot of yes.

From: Dreamaholic Date: May 16, 2005 at 4:50
This is a better overall album than the first, but the first album had stronger, more commercial songs. As a result this was a commercial disappointment, and Howe left the band for other pursuits like solo stuff and GTR. My personal favorites are Don't Cry, Never in a Million Years, The Heat Goes On, True Colors, and Open Your Eyes (my favorite Asia song). Easily worth the eBay asking price.

After the 'Classic' debut, the pressure was on to produce another album of the same calibre, a task that was virtually impossible with the standards set. There are some classic Asia moments on here 'Never In A Million Years' ,'The Heat Goes On' & 'Open Your Eyes' just for three, but the whole thing does sound a little rushed in the songwriting dept.(a fact that they admitted too later on) & leaves it a little disjointed in places. It's still a quality album, but nowhere close to the first one.

Sin la obligada comparacion al disco mega-debut de estos sinfonicos de viejo cuño,esta obra tambien tiene magia y pasajes rock sinfonico con apices menos pop respecto al anterior disco, ademas tiene de sobra temas con feelin como "Never in a Million Years","The Heat Goes On",el tremendisimo "Open Your Eyes" y la comerc."The Smile Has Left Your Eyes".Una lastima que este disco haya significado el inicio del declive, mas aun cuando despues de este disco llegaria la mejor obra de la etapa 80´s. 9/10

From: juan carlos Date: July 16, 2007 at 12:20
Vaya discazo, el 1º me encanta y "Alpha" está muy cerca, no hay mucho que decir, me fascina el disco de principio a fin y mis Súper-Favoritas son "Don't Cry" "The Heat Goes On" "Never in a Million Years" la baladaza "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes"... Un Deber tenerlo. Muy bueno Clásico y Muy Recomendado. 9.3/10

From: pibe Date: November 5, 2012 at 17:07
muy bueno

From: Dx7 Date: October 30, 2021 at 7:53
Asia's follow-up is even more magniloquent: every song sprinkles crystalline, melancholy melody, but the presence of a tuner in the Howe household wouldn't be so bad.
