You can't deny this Queen. Starting to branch out a bit, but just as good as the first.

Weird album for me personally. This is such a critics favorite and while very good it just comes across to me, and it did also when I was younger, as just being a little to much "Hobbity" and "kings & dragons" like in the lyrics and music and imagery. Some top rate melodies throughout though and gave the first indication these guys weren't just your run-of-the-mill rock band and had something HUGELY unique to offer. If you're first checking these guys out though I wouldn't start with this one.

For Me... absolutely the best Queen album ever. QUEEN II contains everything :Great ballads like " White Queen (as it began)", pre - heavy metal songs "Ogre Battle", "March Of The Black Queen" (it sounds like Black Sabbath...a little), sweet glamy songs like "Funny How Love Is" and "Seven Seas Of Rhye" first big hit of young Queen. I love this majestic magic album and I think you'll love it too.

I agree with the above poster, I feel this is Queen's strongest album. I just love the mood of some of these songs like "Father To Son" and "White Queen". The second half is almost all tied together as one song and it is excellent, especially "March Of The Black Queen". Then they end it with the excellent single "Seven Seas Of Rhye". 10/10

wow, what a great masterpiece, this is not your typical Queen, this is kind of a concept album and all types of music are represented, this is the most proggy the band ever got. Procession starts off and you know this will be different, then kicks in with Father, what a great tune, White Queen is sad and beautiful, Ogre Battle!!!!! man, what a tune into Fairy, March is almost metal at times, just fantastic, well, this whole side two is amazing and it is a suite of tunes. my fav Queen.

Gotta agree with Swriter ... what a good review he has given of this release, the band dipped a little after this with Sheer Heart Attack ..but then came the classics Night at the Opera...and Day at the Races the truly last great Queen album. But anyway back to this....Ogre Battle is possibly one of the best Queen songs ever...actually I'm wasting my time Swriter has said it all above!!

Their best... period. Every song is a cracker. It's the sound of a band with nothing to lose and all to gain. They may have even thought it was thier last chance. Nonetheless they produced a blinder. 98/100.

Odd, quirky album. Definitely NOT the best Queen album as some comment above from years gone by.
