From: koogles Date: August 28, 2002 at 16:30
For those English speaking fans out there, this CD is simply Tommy's best solo work. Terry Thomas' ironclad production is a large part of why this sounds so good. On "No Such Thing" and "Dangerous Game", Tommy coming out of the gate with guns blazing. These are balls he didn't have on his first two efforts. His cover of Survivor's "Ever Since The World Began" is better than the original. This is not a poor man's CD ($30+ on eBay)but it's well worth the wallet frisking.

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 19, 2002 at 3:08
This is a good record, but far from a classic one ! Go for the Styx records, they're ten to hundred times better !

From: javi-valencia Date: November 17, 2002 at 13:17

YO CREO KE TOMMY SHAW ES UNO DE LOS MEJORES CANTANTES DE AOR DE LOS 80. TIENE UN RITMO BASTANTE MARCADO, COSA QUE ME ENCANTA, SU DISCO AMBITION, NO SE POR DONDE COJERLO, PORQUE NO TIENE DESPERDICIO NINGUNO. TODAS SUS CANCIONES ME IMPACTAN Y ME ANIMAN. ES EL TIPO DE MUSICA QUE QUIERO ESCUCHAR EN LAS DISCOS. SOY UN GRAN FAN DEL AOR Y TOMMY SHAW SE LLEVA UN 10.

From: ted Date: May 16, 2003 at 14:13

From: bernardito Date: May 22, 2004 at 19:43
smooth keys, and production perhaps the best aor cd of 1987 an ultimate production!!! rating 98/100 cheers from mexico cabrones!!!

From: TIM (2) Date: May 28, 2004 at 9:32
This is magnificent, and a real vocal masterclass from Tommy. Isn't fair to compare it to Styx as is a different style, but allows his vocals to shine a lot more. By a mile his best solo release, and is worth every penny of the high price you'll pay for it these days. The cover of the Survivor track should've been a huge hit, and is one the best ballads youre likely to hear.

From: Andi Date: June 2, 2004 at 15:48
Einer der besten CD's der 80er. Super!

From: Rycheage Date: June 5, 2004 at 0:27
The songs are lush, delivered with oomph, and range between all out rockers and atmospheric arrangements. Compare then the upfront opener 'No Such Thing' to one of the albums classic moments 'The Outsider', or the subtle 'Somewhere In The Night' to the cover of Survivors classic ballad 'Ever Since The World Began' (off 'Eye Of The Tiger'), or the superbly funky 'Love You Too Much' compared to the dynamic 'Weight Of The World'. Great AOR.

Canciones como "No such thing", "Dangerous game" y "The weight of the world" ponen los pelos de punta...ah y que decir de la preciosa "Ever since the world began",¡que clase!

From: run2u Date: August 20, 2004 at 20:18
"For those English speaking fans out there"...dejemos ya las borderías sobre idiomas.

I THINK IT'S THE BEST ALBUM OF TOMMY!GREAT SHINE VOCAL IS WHY I LIKE TOMMY! No Such Thing, Are You Ready for Me , Somewhere in the Night ARE GREAT SONG!AND NO DOUBT Ever Since the World Began IS MUCH BETTER THAN SURVIVOR DID!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 1, 2004 at 22:28
SOLO DIGO QUE Somewhere in the Night AND Dangerous Game SON 2 DE LAS MEJORES CANCIONES QUE TIENE EL AOR, QUE SONIDO QUE TIENEN, UNA ATMOSFERA IMPACTANTE, Ever Since the World Began QUE TREMENDA VERSION DE LOS LEGENDARIOS SURVIVOR, Ambition, Outsider, Are You Ready for Me, No Such Thing, The Weight of the WorlD QUE ALBUM PARA MAS COMPLETO, OTRO DE ESOS MEJORES ALBUMS DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. LO COMPARO CON LAS 2 PRIMERAS JOYAS QUE HIZO JIMMY CON SURVIVOR. SALUDOS DESDE ICA-PERU.

The best of the 4 Tommy Shaw solos and one that is getting impossible to find at reasonable prices, as with most of the others. I completely agree with Koogles in that 'Ever Since The World Began' blows the Survivor version out of the water (not that their's was bad in any way). All the material on this album is very strong ,featuring a mega buck production job that finishes the whole thing off perfectly. Felix Krish is on here aswell (mega bass player)so it must be good!!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: February 6, 2005 at 7:30
The rest ain't bad either, except 7 Deadly Sins, which is IMO crap. But how good this may be, he can't compete with the band he's in : Styx ! They were (not these days, I'm afraid) so much better !

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: February 6, 2005 at 10:56
HEY AOR freaky THIS ALBUM KILL ALL ALBUMS OF STYX, THIS ALBUM RULES.

From: Mallorcas rock Date: April 12, 2005 at 5:05

just placed my order on this today!!!!!!!!!!! so I hope it's as good as I have read!!!!!!!!!!! ha

From: TIM (2) Date: August 26, 2005 at 6:45
Hey swriter, based on what I've seen of your reviews I think you'll love this. Vocally this is the best thing he ever sung, & "Ever Since the World Began" is power-ballad heaven. I hope the re-press/re-issue is a genuine one - I guess if the big stores are carrying it...

From: swriter Date: August 27, 2005 at 20:20
a bit surprized by this one, I never heard any Tommy solo and thought this would be on the acoustic rock side, this is a great rock/aor album, the production or cd seem a little low on volume for some reason, Ever Since the world is great!!!!! No such, Dangerous, Outsider, are you ready and lay down are great, all are great!!!!!! very good one and If I didnt know the voice, I might not place it, rocking!!!

From: SCANDI Date: September 24, 2005 at 8:27
This is a good CD stylically between hard rock & AOR in the vain of JEFF PARIS (first track), VAN ZANT (slow AOR tracks) or BEAU GESTE (especially voice in "Weight of the world"). My faves on this are the rocking "No such thing", the atmospheric "Dangerous game" & last but not least the creepy ballad "Ever since the world began". Wow!!! What a song. Only the sax at the end is definitely too short and pulls you out of your dreams quite brutally. 7,8/10

From: Wachen Date: October 8, 2005 at 13:34
Easily top 5 for me! This CD rocks, AOR at it's best!! BUY BUY BUY!!!!!

From: Harald Date: December 9, 2005 at 16:15
Got me reissue (original Atlantic) this week from AOR Heaven and all I can say is every home should have a copy of this masterpiece. "The Weight Of The World" and "The Outsider" are my favorites here. 95/100

AOR AOR AOR and good.

From: Nix Date: January 28, 2006 at 10:06
A must for AOR fans. The songs are just great here and blew me away when I first heard them. I see people saying that Tommy's "Ever Since The World Began" is better than the original Survivor version... Well maybe, but it doesn't come close to Jimi Jamison's version, which is the best out of the three versions. Anyway, a great album. Highly Recommended.

From: HaremScarem Date: April 6, 2006 at 22:02

From: juan carlos Date: April 17, 2006 at 16:02
"are you ready for me"..

From: juan carlos Date: April 17, 2006 at 16:05
"somewhere in the night" está tambien a esa altura. "love you too much" comercial a lo "no such thing". Y por último mis temas favoritos de este buen album "the outsider" (the best!) y "lay them down". Recomendado. 8.3/10

From: prowler Date: May 4, 2006 at 13:37
exellent album without fillers. each song is a masterpice. you won't be disappointed with this pure melodic aor at it's best. 10/10

From: Carlos A. Date: June 24, 2006 at 13:28

From: Whitesnake Date: January 7, 2007 at 11:29
Here we have a masterpiece! The sound is crystal clear and so are Tommy`s voice. Styx was indeed a great band, but this is where Tommy Shaw peaks - 10/10.

From: ferstyx Date: March 5, 2007 at 15:09
Gran disco. Ever Since the World Began era una de ellas.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 24, 2007 at 10:29
Canciones como "No Such Thing","Dangerous Game","The Weight of the World" y la mega balada "Ever since the World began"(Survivor)te haran querer escuchar mas albumes como este.

"Long Live Tommy Shaw".

From: 123charpenay Date: September 23, 2015 at 10:31
