For those English speaking fans out there, this CD is simply Tommy's best solo work. Terry Thomas' ironclad production is a large part of why this sounds so good. On "No Such Thing" and "Dangerous Game", Tommy coming out of the gate with guns blazing. These are balls he didn't have on his first two efforts. His cover of Survivor's "Ever Since The World Began" is better than the original. This is not a poor man's CD ($30+ on eBay)but it's well worth the wallet frisking.

YO CREO KE TOMMY SHAW ES UNO DE LOS MEJORES CANTANTES DE AOR DE LOS 80. TIENE UN RITMO BASTANTE MARCADO, COSA QUE ME ENCANTA, SU DISCO AMBITION, NO SE POR DONDE COJERLO, PORQUE NO TIENE DESPERDICIO NINGUNO. TODAS SUS CANCIONES ME IMPACTAN Y ME ANIMAN. ES EL TIPO DE MUSICA QUE QUIERO ESCUCHAR EN LAS DISCOS. SOY UN GRAN FAN DEL AOR Y TOMMY SHAW SE LLEVA UN 10.

This is magnificent, and a real vocal masterclass from Tommy. Isn't fair to compare it to Styx as is a different style, but allows his vocals to shine a lot more. By a mile his best solo release, and is worth every penny of the high price you'll pay for it these days. The cover of the Survivor track should've been a huge hit, and is one the best ballads youre likely to hear.

The songs are lush, delivered with oomph, and range between all out rockers and atmospheric arrangements. Compare then the upfront opener 'No Such Thing' to one of the albums classic moments 'The Outsider', or the subtle 'Somewhere In The Night' to the cover of Survivors classic ballad 'Ever Since The World Began' (off 'Eye Of The Tiger'), or the superbly funky 'Love You Too Much' compared to the dynamic 'Weight Of The World'. Great AOR.

Canciones como "No such thing", "Dangerous game" y "The weight of the world" ponen los pelos de punta...ah y que decir de la preciosa "Ever since the world began",¡que clase!

"For those English speaking fans out there"...dejemos ya las borderías sobre idiomas.

The best of the 4 Tommy Shaw solos and one that is getting impossible to find at reasonable prices, as with most of the others. I completely agree with Koogles in that 'Ever Since The World Began' blows the Survivor version out of the water (not that their's was bad in any way). All the material on this album is very strong ,featuring a mega buck production job that finishes the whole thing off perfectly. Felix Krish is on here aswell (mega bass player)so it must be good!!!!

The rest ain't bad either, except 7 Deadly Sins, which is IMO crap. But how good this may be, he can't compete with the band he's in : Styx ! They were (not these days, I'm afraid) so much better !

Hey swriter, based on what I've seen of your reviews I think you'll love this. Vocally this is the best thing he ever sung, & "Ever Since the World Began" is power-ballad heaven. I hope the re-press/re-issue is a genuine one - I guess if the big stores are carrying it...

a bit surprized by this one, I never heard any Tommy solo and thought this would be on the acoustic rock side, this is a great rock/aor album, the production or cd seem a little low on volume for some reason, Ever Since the world is great!!!!! No such, Dangerous, Outsider, are you ready and lay down are great, all are great!!!!!! very good one and If I didnt know the voice, I might not place it, rocking!!!

This is a good CD stylically between hard rock & AOR in the vain of JEFF PARIS (first track), VAN ZANT (slow AOR tracks) or BEAU GESTE (especially voice in "Weight of the world"). My faves on this are the rocking "No such thing", the atmospheric "Dangerous game" & last but not least the creepy ballad "Ever since the world began". Wow!!! What a song. Only the sax at the end is definitely too short and pulls you out of your dreams quite brutally. 7,8/10

A must for AOR fans. The songs are just great here and blew me away when I first heard them. I see people saying that Tommy's "Ever Since The World Began" is better than the original Survivor version... Well maybe, but it doesn't come close to Jimi Jamison's version, which is the best out of the three versions. Anyway, a great album. Highly Recommended.

"are you ready for me"..

"somewhere in the night" está tambien a esa altura. "love you too much" comercial a lo "no such thing". Y por último mis temas favoritos de este buen album "the outsider" (the best!) y "lay them down". Recomendado. 8.3/10

Ambition and Girls With Guns are my Favourite Tommy´s albums, this album was released in 1987, better production by Terry Thomas and great songs, Tommy´s voice is one of the greatest in american music, I love all of his work, Para mí este debió haber sido el disco que lanzara al estrellato como solista a este gran músico, después de su salida del grupo Styx, éste que es su tercer trabajo deja la impresión de que buscaron lanzarlo con todo para sonar con fuerza en la radio, lamentablemente la poca difusión no ayudó y su carrera solista no se elevó a lo que su potencial desmostraba, por supuesto la buena noticia es que después de esto mientras ayudó como vocalista de soporte a tantas grabaciones, surge Damn Yankees, que en su primer álbum rompieron con todo y fué uno de los supergrupos que más éxito cosechó al menos con un disco. Uno de mis cantantes y artistas favoritos. "Long Live Tommy Shaw".
