Thanks for listing this one! It was the only Magnum studio album not listed when I first stumbled through the door of this website a month or so ago. Anyway, someone had already given it a 5/10 - whoever you are, you have no taste!! Even on this, Magnum's second album (no, really) there is already a hint of the pop rock genius that would eventually give them 5 seconds of fame via WOH. 'Changes' sparkles like a slightly tacky diamond! Most of the rest of the album is classic early Magnum. 9/10

If you do not rate a cd at all, the default rating is 5. You probably forgot to rate it the first time.

Ooops.

I think this is the very best Magnum album. The music was not so " commercial " as following albums. Although I like later albums too. But the lyrics on this album is fantastic. You can almost feel how they built up their following greatness and fame with this fantastic album. And , yes "changes" is a great song. Cheers!!

AHA! Thanks pluto! You've given me the excuse I need to open my Magnum mouth again. Firstly, this album is not often thought of as being Magnum's best effort, but I can certainly understand your opinion - it is a cracking set of tunes! Personally, like many others, I think On A Storyteller's Night is their finest hour so far... Oh yeah - I mustn't forget to mention their new album is released August 30th!! Brand New Morning! www.magnumonline.co.uk for details! It's going to be a classic......

Album number 2 and the first thing that hits you here is the big improvement in production over the debut 'Kingdom Of Madness', probably due to to the fact a better, more well known producer Leo Lyons (UFO'S 'Phenomenon', 'Force It' & 'No Heavy Petting' albums) was drafted in. This is still a mighty disc in the Magnum discography and is choc full of classic tracks, some that still feature in the set today. 'Changes' sees them go off in the pop rock direction with nice results, but the real standout cuts on here are 'Reborn', 'The Battle', 'Foolish Heart' and the brilliant 'All Of My Life'. Again, the recent remaster adds a bit of Oomph in the sound department, aswell as adding some nice bonus tracks. As with the debut, a must have in the Magnum discography and a disc that still gets played very often.

Good album, but not as immediately striking as their debut. It's great to listen to as a whole, but very few songs stand out. I wish The battle wasn't so short.
