Having owned Hotwire's self-titled CD from 1995, and being somewhat underwhelmed with it, I didn't know what to expect from their newest effort. I'm happy to report that this is a significant improvement over their debut. More AOR than hard rock, their sound has become more polished over time. Very melodic material! The new vocalist has a more Jimi Jamison-esque voice, which is suited to this material quite well. Quite a few of the tracks have that Survivor/Journey vibe to them. This is more of an EP than a full-length album, being comprised of 8 tracks plus an edit. The production is quite good. Of note is one of the most unusual covers ever to make an appearance on a rock album: a countryish rendition of AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long. Rating: 86/100 |

So in regards to the music at hand, that I can say is very pleasant middle of the road keyboard driven European AOR. The guitars come out to play on a couple of harder edged tracks, but for the most part it is very smooth AOR that occasionally borders on Westcoast. Generally of high quality, although it doesn't break any new ground or standout above a few other examples of the same thing this year. Their ballad version of AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" is pretty cool though. |

One question...are dead this band?? They are great. They must be considered gods of hard rock. I found a release called The Routine but it is other band...bad metal . I wish they come back again kikefort@hotmail.com They have another album released in 1998 called Face Another Day. It is great too. Regards to all. Happy New Year |

Honestly, what is this? They lost a unique vocalist with a voice you had to get used to, but the fact was that with that voice, he also wrote great melodic hard rock songs. Hotwire's first two CDs are simply stunning examples of melodic hard rock... and this one? Well, it's nice. Nice vocals, nice (whussy) songs. This is AOR and is good AOR, but not what you'd expect from a band as good as Hotwire, capable of much more. Very good disc, major disappointment. Get the first two. |

Hi i'm from Germany and I know the Hotwire guys. Their new CD is nearly finished (it took a while ...) and it kicks ass!!! They have some really rockin' tracks on it (he band said itself that "Middle.." should have had one or two more heavy songs) and a great cover of "Hot love" by T.Rex, which is great and remembers me of steaming Def Leppard like "Let's get rocked". Andy's voice is brilliant and the sound (producer is Chris Lausmann, former member of Bonfire) is awesome. Don't ask me when the |

I was reading this after checking on it other places and found this rather interesting info on another site. Apparently, there are 2 different versions of this album around. If interested, check out this address: http://www.mothermetal.com/TBS/Bands/Hotwire/Hotwire.htm |
