Wow! Fergie Frederiksen never sounded as good as on this power-packed "Isolation" CD. Heart-pumping AOR with savage instrumentation from every member! Toto's most straight-ahead AOR album with none of that "Georgy Porgy" jive. It's a shame Fergie only did one album with these guys.

From: Kique Date: January 12, 2002 at 6:00
Totally agree Koogles! Their best ever album to me. But Fergie sound as good in his Le Roux and solo albums.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 25, 2002 at 4:33

ABSOLUTAMENTE GENIAL, COMPRALO!!! RATING 98/100

A mistery, also a shame why Fregie didn`t remained with the band!On my honest opinion the best, most technical, strong vocals, singer they`ve ever had!I`m also Intriguied why this album was considered a commercial failure even selling 5 million over U.S.at time.Sounds a pretty good failure to me!!!This way, incapable to match it`s predecessor TotoIV.Quite different from their previous release this show the band trying to become more contemporary,on this truly underrated album!

The music on this album is more dynamic and a bit harder than the their ancient material! It expose a harder side of Toto`s music!Great musicianship, still revealing their typical jazzistic, soul feel to the music yet commercial!Because of the "pseudo-bad selling" of this record they returned on their next one to the blockbuster ballads they used to do.Anyway this was their true AOR album! That If you consider their other releases as soft, common, contemporary rock.99 out of 10

From: Great Dane Date: December 31, 2002 at 15:08
Well I have no idea why Toto eneded up here on Heavyharmonies, but never theless, this is my alltime Toto album.

From: Chris Date: June 3, 2003 at 8:05
This is the best toto release without a doubt.

From: Zlatan Date: January 8, 2004 at 12:01
This album is unbelievable. It can't get any better than this. Just listen to the first track (Carmen). My alltime Nr 1.

From: Gar Date: February 4, 2004 at 18:36
"Stranger In Town" is probably my favorite Toto song, and I remember the video was pretty decent too. There are a couple of forgettable tracks on this, but for the most part this is a very strong release. As Freddy would say, "Buy or Die"!

From: run2u Date: February 5, 2004 at 18:36

From: Metal Pete Date: February 5, 2004 at 18:51
'Stranger in Town' is fantastic, I agree probably their best song, even! Is it on the greatest hits? Holyanna is another great one from this record. I remember playing this cd a lot when it came out.

From: G. Indianwest Date: February 14, 2004 at 21:09
Perfect album!!! Fergie is one of the best...10!!! Just listen to "Change Of Heart" and surrender!!!

From: CARLOS AS Date: April 10, 2004 at 13:40
UNO DE SUS MEJORES TRABAJOS...STEVE LUKATHER TE GANASTE UN SITIAL JUNTO CON LOS GRANDES DE LA GUITARRA HARD

From: Joan Date: July 26, 2004 at 18:13
Buenisimo!!

From: Wotty Date: August 16, 2004 at 12:40
Another day, another 80s classic. Some local radio mug kept going on about IV being the best 80s TOTO album,he obviously has not heard ENDLESS or STRANGER IN TOWN from this pearl of an album

From: AOR freaky Date: August 16, 2004 at 15:01
This is indeed their best record, Wotty ! Of course, because the mighty Fergie is singing. It's IMO also the most AOR-orientated Toto release !

From: TIM (2) Date: August 17, 2004 at 4:44
I like "IV" more than this, and probably "The Seventh One" too. But there are some real gems on here, and the Lukather-sung "How Does It Feel" is just an amazing ballad and one my all-time favourite Toto moments (of which there are quite a few, although none since "The Seventh One"...) 8.5/10.

From: Wotty Date: August 17, 2004 at 6:17
To Tim[2],we do just conflict slightly on a few 80s gems. One day we will find the perfect AOR album without bits of this and bits of that.In this case,I think me and Freaky are right,TOTO hit top AOR form with this release.

From: TIM (2) Date: August 17, 2004 at 6:24
Hey Wotty, Well at least we agree on the bands themselves, if not the individual albums. Maybe if Joseph Williams had sung this entire album I may have agreed with you...

From: Wotty Date: August 17, 2004 at 6:43
Hey Tim[2],surely getting Fergie on board,as previously mentioned by Freaky and myself, was the master stroke the album needed.

From: Wotty Date: August 17, 2004 at 14:09
Hey Tim[2],I know you are a Joe fan but Fergie delivers the goods here.

Pure AOR Classic.

After years of trying NOT to get into ToTo this album turned me right around. It's pretty fantastic especially the double punch of Endless and Isolation. I think this is probably the most complete / acessible Toto release ever. Not a duffer of a song in sight! Fan-dabby-dosey!

some really great songs, Carmen, Isolation, Lion, I am the rock Toto fan, not really the lighter stuff, just love the harder 80's songs from the band, seemed like the band was trying for a little different direction with this album and they did a great job!!

From: Carlos A. Date: July 21, 2006 at 12:36

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: December 15, 2006 at 22:29
Oh si, a mi tambien me parecen tanto "Stranger In town" como "Hollyana" clasicos malditos (jeje, me gusta mas Hollyana).

From: DANTE Date: February 11, 2007 at 9:29

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: October 19, 2007 at 0:41

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: October 19, 2007 at 0:54

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: October 19, 2007 at 2:33

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 15, 2007 at 18:07

From: kai-2 Date: November 3, 2008 at 17:41
Thanks Rafo Phoenix for the recommendation of this great record in the "The Seventh One" post. This is a top-quality hard rockin' AOR album with great songs like "Carmen", "Angel Don't Cry" (killer song!!!), "Stranger In This Town" & "Dont Change Heart" (killer riff!!!). I really liked this one much. Thanks again.

From: DonDefo Date: November 4, 2010 at 15:27
Best CD of Toto I ever heard. Well, I didn't listen to their 90's album rather, mainly those from 80's but Isolation is my fav - it's pure soft/hard rock. It's not typical AOR like Hydra which I like too. Yeah! CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU GIRL... ISOLATION!!

From: Luciano86 Date: April 1, 2012 at 1:26
i love this work!!! 100/100

From: ShadowAngel Date: March 23, 2013 at 14:51
A new Singer, a new Sound and Columbia fucked it up again. I will never understand why they chose Stranger in Town as first single. They should've went with Carmen or Endless which sounded more fitting for 1984. The album overall is a lot more guitar-driven and Frederiksen hits some crazy high notes in Angel Don't Cry. To bad he apparently was a nightmare in the studio and constantly ill on the tour, otherwise who knows how the next album might've turned out if Frederiksen had a bit more input in the songs. It's definitely a great album, one of TOTOs best.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 24, 2013 at 18:42
Fergie did pretty good in here as the frontman accompanied or supported by Bobby Kimball as well..."Stranger in Town" is simply a classic of the band along with "Angel Don't Cry"...tracks 1,2,6 & 7 are also appealing ones but in general lines this album is basically a reference in Toto's discography.88/100

From: hair metal again Date: September 16, 2020 at 5:39
excellent release once again for the mighty TOTO , a band that never repeats itself and every tune is a thrill!the musicianship as expected is out standing and the songs are very strong with hundreds of great hooks !"how does it feel","lion","carmen" and "endless" are great songs indeed!essential

From: Macca Date: January 19, 2023 at 11:07
Simply the best TOTO album..Fergie joining on the back of the absolutely fab LeRoux So Fired Up album. Soaring vocal lines, and an urgent up tempo rock/AOR feel..... An absolute tragedy he wasnt used again..Toto messed up therer!! Ok Williams three albums were great too.... I never really understood wht he was fired..Fergie..... Ive heard live recordings.he was great.....
