Brilliant debut album from a British band who know what old school rock is about. I'm not going to pretend they are doing anything original or technical, but thats what makes them so great. The songs are laden with hooks aplenty, great riffs and guitar solos. Jon and Will share the vocal duties between them and the guitars, although the variation of vocal styles isnt as different as you get with Gene and Paul in Kiss. Matt and Tom provide the solid backbone that is the rhythm section, working perfectly with the two frontmen. I cannot say enough good things about this album and the band, and can highly recommend seeing them live as well. |

Oh, and for anyone who is into digital downloads, there are some extra tunes available on iTunes with an acoustic version of War between us and a new full electric song called Chasing love. Also available on iTunes and on Amazon as part of the Get your hands dirty single is an acoustic version of Mother fucker. Finally, if you can find it, they did a cover of AC/DCs Let me put my love into you, for a Metal Hammer CD give away. |

Man, where was I when this came out? I remember seening their name, but somehow never checked them out until recently. Missing out, I was! So many of these retro bands try too hardm and come off sounding goofy and dumb. Jettblack gets it right, with top-class, old-school, melodic hard rock that actually IS both melodic and hard. I would compare them with fellow British new-schoolers The Treatment, although Jettblack are a bit heavier and guitar-flashier. The songs would have been right at home in the late '80's, but since the band doesn't try to replicate that outdated production from 25 years ago, they still manage to sound fairly fresh. One of the few new-millennium retro-hair bands who truly could have stood a chance in the '80's. I thoroughly enjoyed this. |
