These guys originated from Beaumont, Texas (not Louisiana like some sites have mentioned). They appeared on "Star Search" twice (winning at least once) although Jay Hollander was their vocalist at that time. You can pull up some of the "Star Search" videos on Youtube where they took on a slightly more commercial AOR/Glam/Rock vibe than the somewhat Classical Hard Rock approach (with minor AOR/Glam tendencies) here. It seems like they were caught between both a Hard Rock image (earlier) and more of a later-90's Glam image (even with the spandex shorts)later. I also like what I heard on this release more so than the "Star Search" era although there was nothing elaborate or extraodinary here (some no-frill influences of FOREIGNER, BAD COMPANY, MONTROSE & AOR-induced keys on occasion). It did seem to grow on me after a couple of listens although I think their musical direction was becoming more unclear as time was wearing on. |
