If you dickheads would speak english, that would be nice

From: shadowrider Date: July 20, 2002 at 15:50
David this is a website for fans of aor and hard rock no matter what language they speak.Maybe he doesn't speak english and his comments can be interesting for other people in the same situation.

From: David Date: July 20, 2002 at 17:31
Thanks Shadowrider for that very important information I will take that on board.

From: Rockforever Date: July 25, 2002 at 6:35
Yes David, melodic rock fans are supposed to be intelligent and open-minded (that's why we're not into nu-metal,rap metal etc.).The fact that someone doesn't speak english may hinder their progress on an english speaking site, but they should be respected nonetheless.

From: rockforever Date: July 25, 2002 at 6:35
By the way, Crown of Thorns are a top quality melodic rock outfit.

From: David Date: July 25, 2002 at 20:10
Thankyou also Rockforever for that wonderful tip, I really have got a lot to regret and my head is hang really low.

Dying for love, es una autentica gozada, al igual q STANDING IN THE CORNER... Aqui hay mucha calidad, y a lo creo...gran disco!

From: Horacio Date: May 26, 2003 at 17:39
Amazing; really a must for every melodic rock fan out there. I bought it when it was released and man, Dying for Love is still one of the songs I play a lot. Winterland is also a stand out. En res'men, este cd es la re-ostia jeje.

An awesome Cd combining catchy songs with grat production and plenty of crunch, topped off by Jean Bouvoirs sumptous vocals. A MUST HAVE!!

From: Bradman Date: April 12, 2004 at 13:50
'Yes David, melodic rock fans are supposed to be intelligent and open-minded (that's why we're not into nu-metal,rap metal etc.)' Does anyone else find that contradiction funny? Crown Of Thorns, great album.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 12, 2004 at 23:57
Not only the best melodic rock album of 1993, but also one of my favorites of any release. Too bad this got delayed a couple years, it might have been able to make a bigger impact than being relegated to small label status. This one has it all. Rockers like 'Dying For Love', 'The Healer', and 'Crown Of Thorns', ballads 'Wonterland' and 'Standing Of The Corner For Ya', and even a rap-rock song that is not too bad 'Are You Ready?'. Too bad Jean could never top this. 10/10

From: rocketron Date: July 21, 2004 at 17:25
'Dying For Love' - incredible song !!

From: Dave Date: October 30, 2004 at 18:28
Great album , great band.Just listen to Tony Thompson belt the absolute shit out of those skins on 'No You Don't' and the all round mighty effort on the ballad 'Standing On The Corner For Ya'.This album is a gem as are all their albums except 'Destiny Unknown' which in my view was a shocker.Very under rated band.

From: Theo Date: December 27, 2004 at 5:19
This was a very old question,so i don't know if it was answered, but the rapper on Are You Ready? is Sherlock.Great album, nice refrains and cool guiter work.If you are an AOR fan, this is a good buy! 8/10

From: Harsh Reality Date: February 7, 2005 at 15:29

One of the BEST hard rock releases EVER!! from the opening track to the last, this cd is full of crunch that would splinter bones. Great songwriting all round, and awesome vocals from Jean. If you were going to buy 1 CofT cd, then this is the one. Not a bad song. They have never really been able to capture that raw energy in their other releases. Maybe Jean needs to give Paul Stanley and Desmond Child a call, just to freshen things up a little. They can do no wrong. 'Crown Of Thorns' what a song.

From: metalguf Date: February 20, 2006 at 5:02
It's a pretty solid melodic hard rock. Some fine ballads worth a listening.

From: metalguf Date: February 24, 2006 at 9:53
WOWWWW!!! This is a MUST HAVE for any AOR lover. 'Till the end' and 'Standing on the Corner for Ya' is two wonderful ballads, buy or die!!!!

From: metalmaniac777 Date: December 28, 2006 at 14:24
Not the crown jewel some claim it to be, but still a classy melodic HR CD. Lots of hooks, tight production, stellar vocals, and the kind of harmonies that Harem Scarem would be proud to call their own. What keeps this from being a true masterpiece, however, is that some of the songs are far better than others, meaning consistency falters. But when they're great, they're really great, and it's not hard to see why some folks rank these guys among the reigning kings of the melodic hard rock realm.

From: hair metal again Date: October 16, 2009 at 1:58
one of the best releases back then as ican recall.in my opinion this is unique and cannot been repeated.even crown of thorns didnt even reach such perfection in their sound and songwriting.the guitars are strong, the hooks are all over and jean s vocals awesome.listen to the anthem "dying for love","crown of thorns","the healer" and "til the end".the rest of the songs are very nice too.i ll catch them live infirefest in some days and i am very excited about it.great release

From: rockhardrock Date: January 18, 2011 at 14:20
some songs here are just awsome, like: crown of thorns, the healer and standing on the corner for ya.the others are quite good too and the singer's voice is very similat to paul stanley of kiss.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: January 15, 2012 at 17:41
After a demo songs release came this COT debut which is for me simply an outstanding one!!!...ok it has,as some stated above, some songs that probably are not appealing for some listeners but in general lines it can be digestibles all the way down...my faves are "Dying For Love","Standing On The Corner For Ya"(nice softy),"The Healer","House Of Love" & "I Won't Wait"(japanese B/T)...enjoyable record...91/100

From: BDrums1971 Date: March 3, 2012 at 3:10
Wow. How in the hell did I miss this one back in the day? I have never heard of COT or Jean B., but I am now a fan. Great voice!! And the songs are very catchy! I am going to check out the other COT releases.

From: Hair metal hero Date: March 15, 2012 at 7:29
This is a great album, very catchy and rocking. Odd year for this album, and that's probably why it never got the attention it deserved. Very recommended for fans of catcy 80's rock, 92/100

From: edwithmj Date: May 26, 2015 at 16:36
Crown of Thorns' debut is a monster of an album that manages to sound both raw and polished at the same time. The opener is a great rocker witha super chorus and solo; Hike it Up has a wonderful riff; Dyin' For Love is a wonderful melodic rocker with passionate vocals. Other highlights include the ballad Till the End which is very emotional, the powerful, Winterland and the hard rocking Are You Ready which despite having a rap part in the middle, actually works really well and the solo is super too. One of Beauvoir's better moments for sure!

From: 123charpenay Date: September 4, 2015 at 7:47
remember 1993.the horrible grunge wawe is in action.no place for melodic rock in the majors and in lot of labels.nevertheless the little flame of a o r is always alive.thanx to now&then to put on the market this masterpiece.a killer cd ,only killer songs no fillers.without any doubt crown of thorns deliver is best record.top class hard f m.tony thompson is the drummer of the disco band chic "le freak c est chic".in an interview to rock time (french magazine) he says that is dream ,after all these years of playing funky music ,is to play hard rock.he choose the good band to express his talent and his secret passion!!!!
