Disappointing !!! The singer/ producer Mr PELLE SAETHER aka LENNY DE ROSE ex ZEELION comments “We wanted that Leppard sound to it. You know: 96 channels of choirs just running you over – and we nailed it!!! This album features a big 80's rock sound combined with great songs with BIG choirs.” GRAND DESIGN is indeed a Band ,that we can say, that it belong to the old school and ,,time elevation" is a good exemple of "how people want to pay hommage to their favorite old band and their music" ! In the GD's case DEF LEPPARD is a major influence to say the least ,OK...why not ? But ,Unlike the latest great works by CHRIS LANEY (,,my private hell" by STEEVI JAMES & ,,pure") who also displayed some love for the BIG choirs in the Mutt LANGE 80's traditions and despite some huge DEF LEP's like HOOOWOOs, this album miss the target... |

Why ? because instead of focusing on the song , they only tried to get the SIGNATURE sound and forgetting about the songwriting in the middle of the process ,just gimmicks not enough GOOD music ! Sorry ,for me the songs are not strong enough and sorry again, but the sound is also very caricatural and way cheaper than any prod. by contemporay producer ,as (once again) CHRIS LANEY (DYNAZTY) And do i have to say it... far far away from the Legendary DEF LEP production And the worst thing is ,the almost constant using of a Cheap VOCAL PITCH CORRECTOR (auto-tune) Who killed any spontaneity or organic sound ! Anyway ,i must say ,that i like the idea of bringing to life the legendary old Sound BUT please don't forget the songs and not every engineer/producer or band is enough talented to be the new DEF LEP /FIREHOUSE or "Mutt" !!!! |

And sometimes i even liked one or two track , and i think that GRAND DESIGN have some potential ready ! I was also a big fan of ZEELION, so my comments are not against the band but more toward this kind of caricatural CD lately...REVIVAL.. yes but TALENT & MUSIC first 78/100 |

I actually really love this CD personally. It is totally, 100% 'Hysteria'-era Def Leppard, which is never at any point concealed. From the killer opener, 'Love Sensation', this is relentless. Everything I loved about Def Leppard is captured on this disc. 'Sheik Iddup'(Shake it up) - their 'Pour some sugar on me' - is the weakest song on the CD, but still very good. 'Sad sound of goodbye' is possibly my fave, but everything delivers here. My one complaint? If you look at the song lengths they almost all clock in at over 5mins and that's mostly due do the over-repitition of the closing choruses. Still, when it's this good it's not a huge concern. Great disc. And just better than Wildstreet, imo. |

I'm with Geoff on this one as well. It's extremely well performed and has a very polished sound. It took me a couple listens to get used to the singer but after I was ok with him, I started enjoying the entire disc and concluded the same as Geoff; This rocks big time. Tremendous guitar and snare drum sound. 92/100 |

And I'm with Axe Slinger and Geoff on this one. This really is a great release and the more I listen to it the better it gets. My faves are "Air it out" and "Sad Sound of Goodbye", but all tracks are very good actually. Extremely melodic and the choruses are phantastic. BUY ! |

i am almost in the same feeling than geoff axe and swazi not with viking sorry.where did georg siegl find these guys?mystery.i think this album is one of the best of 2009.the album of the year is free spirit(pale sister of light).when these guys were youngs i imagine they listen def leppard day and night.tracks 1.2.3.4.9 are some atomics bombs!the rest is excellent absoluty no fillers.the singer is not terrific but great, the choirs are fantastics!no problem for the production it is powerful and clear.geoff the length of the songs is not a problem when songs like here are top class hard fm.in french we said "faire durer le plaisir"(long pleasure).like swazi i say BUY!!!! |

They remind me a little of Pretty maids too. But I like them anyway. |

Just barely heard this as I was given a copy of it, by a girl who's divorce landed her a whopping 15,000 cd's, in which the ex husband told her they are all hers, I didnt think twice when she asked me if I wanted to look through them, but I had no idea it would be my music, I had never heard of this, and now im listening to it, and I FUCKING LOVE IT!! big walls of sound, killer catchy song's even if I am behind, if anyone hasnt heard this, and they are as into over produced music as I, you'd be doing yourself a favor checking this one out, good shit here! |

This has to be the best album Leppard never did. Pyromania/Hysteria era class pours all over on me. Superb multilayered vocals and spot on 80's huge electronic drum sound. Great songwriting and surefire catchiness all around. Only last track misses my boat so no full 100 point rating. |

Admittedly, a band I don't known much about. Good album; really like, "Sad Sound of Goodbye." |
