Ever since Billy made his "comeback" in 2005 with Devils Playground, I have loved his output (well except the Christmas album). Devils was a balls out rocker, Kings and queens was a bit more of a mix of styles, as he was known for on his earlier albums, and the two EPs were pretty damn good as well. After hearing the debut single from this one, Still dancing, I was hoping for more of the same as it is a great song, and the collab with Avril Lavigne was pretty cool too, but sadly the rest of the album does not hold up as well. Nothing bad by any means it's all just a little too laid back and never really rocks out. Also, annoyingly the physical releases did not include the Avril collab, just the Billy solo version with Avril being on digital only. The version of John Wayne is no as good as the original that was on Idolize yourself. The biggest issue is Steve never gets to stretch his legs musically and could be any guitarist playing. Ok release, just not great. |
