anyone who has never listened to the SLAMMIN'GLADYS song "CUM" has no idea what a FUN song is.Each time i hear it,I just go CRAZY:jump on my sofa,dance,sing aloud;it's the "slammin' gladys effect" as my doctor has explained to me.All the members of this band are great,especially the singer,BROOKS,he has a HELL of a voice:POWERFUL,GROOVY,FUN,and also full of EMOTION in the ballads.BROOKS appears also in the ERIK"WARRANT"TURNER project"Hollywood Underground" where he sings the song "CRY BABY"...

J.J. FARRIS,the guitarist (FABULOUS solist),appears also on the WARRANT album "Ultraphobic" where he plays accoustic guitar on the (wonderful) ballad "STRONGER NOW".The SLAMMIN'GLADYS album has JANI LANE on the background vocals on two songs:it seems like WARRANT and SLAMMIN' GLADYS members know each others and have worked together in the past:I wish they would do it again!!!!

I really miss these guys! I have no idea how I found this band back in the day, but I recently rediscovered them and I'm loving the album! I can't find any info on any of these guys after this album. Anyone got any other 'similar' bands/albums they would recommend that has the same sound/feel?

There's a couple of cool, funky songs but most of it is rather dull. Smashed Gladys is a 100 times better.

Saw this band live in late 92' while supporting this album... they were touring with Southgang. Incredible live act. Awsome bass lines, harmonies. Brooks was unsung David Lee Roth of the nineties!

Thought the cd really kicked ass....was very impressed!Never seen the band before,but i was in a local band from cleveland and opened up for a band that dave brooks was in called risque. what a great bunch of guys! had a blast with them. especially at the cove in geneva.....remember peppermint schnapps pete????? rock on dave and gang...hope your still together????

I haven't heard this cd but I did hear their other one and I just can't imagine me driving thru town with their tune cranked called "Legs Up In The Air" . . . . That's the problem with the sleazy bands . . . Stilleto is another one with Cum in your mouth . . . . That is almost frightning cuz people would point and go tee hee . . . . . . . (And they wonder why the radio stations won't play their music) . . . keep the music unisex is what I say!!

Yes, Warrant and Smashed did work together- I saw them in Jacksonville FL in 1992. I actually went backstage and hung out with smashed, played pool, ate at the Waffle House, and went back to his hotel to hang out- HA! Was I naive! I thought that's what he actually wanted to do. I guess he got pissed when I wouldn't give him any and when I was supposed to call him the next day to hang out his hotel room phone was busy. I know better now! The guys from this band have all relocated with new albums etc,... Brooks is back in his hometown in Akron Ohio performing live with a solo act, JJ is stillin LA, Alley is in Tennessee with his wife stacy and who knows where Steve is but check out Brooks new stuff.

I read good reviews when it came out so I bought it. Didn't like it at all. Gave it away, and listened to Hardline a whole lot more. to each his own!

I got this cd the other day, expecting a kick-ass, melodic, anthemic 80s rock band, but I was sorely disappointed. Not one of their songs is hard rockin, they try to dick around with funk metal way too much. And they sound a lot like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who just flat out suck.

Just got this in the mail today...and I am blown away!! I LOVE this stuff!!!! Their version of "Piece Of My Heart" is awesome!! LOVE that song, anyway....and they just made it even better!!! The Slammin Gladys and Warrant connection actually happened in Akron. Alley and Brooks were in a band called "Risque" which was one of the top bands in Ohio and Jani Lane and in the the opening act "Cyren". Cyren also included Johne Weakland who went on to work in AR @ Sony Music, LA...I was lucky enough to play bass for a while in Cyren, it was a blast to be around all those talented players...I got the Slammin Gladys cd while in Germany and I thought it was great it just came out @ the wrong t

I really wanted to like this album. I picked it up in '95 after seeing Jani Lane was involved (I thought he had a hand in the production as well, maybe not). Unfortunately I expected a lot more than what was there. Despite a funk vibe that showed up at times most tracks were rather uninspired and unmemorable and after a few plays I realized it wasn't growing on me so I got rid of it.

You knew that the hair band era was pretty much over when bands like this were able to realease albums in 1992. A weak display of funky hard rock. The first side is just plain bad, and the cover song (Piece Of My Heart) is one of the worst covers I have heard. Side two is better, "What U Need" is a good ballad and "Where Were U" actually mixes the funk and hard rock well. 3/10

I believe it is 'What u need' that is the ballad written by Jani Lane, or am I mistaken. I will have to look at the CD when I get home, but if I recall correctly there is a ballad written by Jani Lane and that track is good. The rest is the most average shitty hard rock you're likely to hear. Sorry, make that below average. Very poor CD, but the ballad is good.

Pretty good cd, actually much better than I remember it being the first time I owned it. The big thing I really don't care for is the funk element the band utilized. I've just never been a huge fan of that in hard rock music. That being said, "Where Were U" does turn out to be a pretty catchy song. My favorite track is the ballad "Down On Your Knees" which was one of 2 tracks co-written by Jani Lane. "Bad Attitude" and the cd bonus track "Cum" are a couple other great tracks.

One of the most killer melodic HR record from an unknown band !!! Please buy this one ! It has everything a classic cd must have to make you happy !! i wouldn't say this record is a glam rock/metal, but more a combo of 90s hard rock, glam metal and funk rock/metal. this album has some fillers and some great gems and gems are: Bet Your Life, Down On Your Knees Lay Me Down and Cum (one of the best funk rock/metal songs i've ever heard)

I got this album because I was listening to LA Guns at work and the bartender thought it was Slammin' Gladys. He said he won the cd from a radio station and it wasn't really his style but if I liked what I was listening to (Hollywood Vampires) I'd like them too. Well, he was absolutely right! Cum is one of favorite songs and to this day as a 50 year old man it still gets me up and moving! The rest of the album is pretty great too. Definitely worth checking.

This came out in the spring of '92 (apparently—never heard it back in the day), and as such, was stillborn. Deservedly so—this is some bad, bad, bad late-stage hair-metal. All boxes are checked: the yodeling, shrieking singer; the noodly guitar; the dabbling in funk; the gross, insincere ballads; the cover song; the pretend blues. I knew this was gonna be a rough ride from the very beginning, when I heard Brooks wail, "I got a baaayaaayaaad ... aaaaaayaaattitooooooood!" Yeah ... no. One song begins with Brooks letting his phone go to the answering machine, but scrambling to answer when he hears it's Angel calling (and we all know about women named Angel, don't we, class?) I hear this music and picture the singer prancing down the Sunset Strip in full stage regalia, English cucumber stuffed in his pants, glancing around to see who's noticing him, and narrating the scene aloud to no one, punctuating his monologue with yips and yowls on random words and phrases. Weirdly, the only track I actually enjoyed is the stupidest, most outlandish one of the bunch: a finger-snapping acoustic blooze boosted by a sax solo and a slippery bassline, which makes for a fun, drunken, late-night singalong with your dumb friends. In fact, I'm sitting here at work singing in my head, "Silicone Sally, gonna eat your puddin' tonight!" Suffice to say, being Warrant hangers-on was the only reason this got released, and even that could only take them so far.
