The other album title choice was 'The Road to Obscurity in California' I think it's time for Night Ranger to pull a Cinderella which hasn't released a studio album since 94', and not release anymore studio albums. Just release greatest hits, live Cd's, and milk a few more tours doing the classics. The band has been around almost 30 years give or take, with a 'Damn Yankees' intermission for Blades. IMO they where One and done, peaking with their debut 'Dawn Patrol', and had 2 more good albums after that. Every release from the 90's until now has been painfully average. This is better than the modern sound of 'Hole in the Sun (2007)'. Jeff Watson bows out on guitar and the band with 3/5 of the original members intact. All singers vocals go with age (Blades) as the band still has chops, but this release just coasts along and does nothing for me. I saw NR in concert when I was a kid in 85' with Black N Blue opening. Both bands put on a good show as I will remember them as they where.

I didn't mind 'Hole In The Sun' at all when it was released, although it was no where near there best work, but this is a different ball game. I can proudly announce that Night Ranger are back big time with a huge album. Great songs, great, big tight production job and a band that sounds on fire. THE best Night Ranger disc since 'Man In Motion'. Just buy it

I agree with Jez on this one. I was really surprised to hear a very good disc that SOUNDS like Night Ranger. There are some really cool songs on hear and the acoustic piece at the end is fantastic. I really like this disc and look forward to seeing Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger this summer!

I agree with other guys. I think this one is the best from man in motion. I say more....for some think I think this is their best. Great sound and great energy in all songs, for me none filler. Very very good stuff. Rock on guys!

Yes they take up the pace again and made a legal follower of man in motion. with the exception of live for today which sounds kind of boring to me. Seen them on an open air with FM(U.K.),Bonfire, Foreigner and Journey yesterday. their first one in germany after 26 years(!)

Lovely release!!!...good rocking tracks, not AOR(remember they have recorded some brilliant albums of that genre)..."Growin' Up In California"(excellent rocking party track!),"Lay It On Me"(rocks good!),"Bye Bye Baby(Not Tonight)"(rocks catchy),"Follow Your Heart"(excellent),"No Time To Lose Ya"(catchy)& "Say It With Love"(catchy) are my favourites...a nice come back for sure...94/100

This is a really good album and worth checking out. Some great tunes. My favorite is of all things, the ballad, “Time of Our Lives.’ It's great to see N.R. come back strong!

From: Axelinger Date: May 6, 2013 at 16:40
While I'm a huge Night Ranger fan - especially their heavier tracks, I get tired of Joel Hoekstra's media-hogging with mainstream poop like Rock Of Ages and constant Facebook blathering about sappy side projects under the Night Ranger page banner. Jeff Watson would never have done that. Like I said, love the music; don't like the shameless self-promotion by the new guy.

Oh man...what happened to Jack Blades???how can someone play in such an amateur group if he could play in such a great band-like damn yankees....what happened to the good old Damn Yankees riffs like "Donīt tread on me" or "Bad Reputation"??What happened to the glory Damn Yankees years and to the perfect Ted Nugent guitar playing??I am stunned AND DISAPPOINTED!!The new Night Ranger album "High Road" 2014 is also much boring as all the otherīs years ago!!!Please bring back DAMN YANKEES to us all!!!!

very good release for NIGHT RANGER still rocking this time just California offering their trademark sound and songwriting just not in the same level as their glory days!"say it with love","follow your heart" and "time of our lives" are fine songs indded but the rest is also remarkable!always nice hearing from them and i must say that i caught them live in Milan at that tour for my first time ,better late than never
