Saw them tour with this line-up & it was a great show!! Don't let the fact Blades was not on this stop you from getting it. Moon does a great job and it still has that classic Night Ranger sound so congrats to Keagy for not severely altering their sound. In the same vein as "Man In Motion" but a tad heavier. For $4.25 you'll definitely be happy. In 1995 though this thing didn't stand a chance!!

Roll call for Night Ranger circa 1995 was not unlike the last day of school before the summer holidays. Blades? Absent. Fitzgerald? Absent. Watson? Gone fishing. Only Kelly Keagy and Brad Gillis showed up for this record and, along with Gary Moon, it's a skeleton crew indeed. Still, there are no less than 4 redeeming tracks: "Mojo", "Precious Time", "Last Chance" and "Try (For Good Reason)".

From: Gar Date: August 11, 2002 at 19:47
This was better than I expected it to be. All the songs are great, but "Tell Me I'm Wrong" is the best. Classic Night Ranger, even if the lineup's different.

From: Axelinger Date: October 25, 2002 at 12:23
Slagging a release because "this guy ain't on it", or "that guy ain't on it" is ridiculous without giving the line-up a chance to show what they can do. In that vein, much of Night Ranger's sound can be attributed to Brad Gillis, and that shines through on this release, so for anyone to say "it's not really Night Ranger" holds little water. For a band forever damned by the trite Sister Christian, tracks like So Far Gone, Last Chance, The Night Has A Way & Music Box show they have much to offer.

I'm a huge Jack Blades fan and still i must say that I pull this album out once in a while and listen to it. It is pretty good. I must say i don't agree that Brad Gillis provides the signature sound of Night Ranger. All parts make up the NR sound and this alubm proves that because the true core Ranger sound is lacking, like some parts are left out and you can tell it. Overall a solid album7.5/10

Didn't know what to expect from a Jack-less Night Ranger, but a good review in Metal Edge led me to check it out. Great album, "Last Chance", "The Night Has A Way", and "Tell Me I'm Wrong" are stand outs for me, but the whole thing is pretty good all the way through. However, let it be said that the album doesn't hold a candle to the awesome "Neverland".

From: TIM (2) Date: May 26, 2004 at 13:59
I don't care who's on it or who's not on it, this is absolute rubbish. Why they've even used the name Night Ranger is beyond me. I never bought this originally after reading various reviews, but borrowed a copy off a friend, and this is tuneless drivel.

From: Rockhead Date: May 27, 2004 at 4:21
I'm afraid I disagree with TIM(2) on this one, whilst it is a more earthy release I think the songs and sound is great after the debut and Midnight Madness CD's this is next most played Nightranger CD.

From: AOR freaky Date: May 27, 2004 at 4:46
I agree with Rockhead ! This is not half as bad as said ! Their best is Dawn Patrol, a true classic ! But I enjoy this one too, like most of their work. Great band !

From: Rockhead Date: May 27, 2004 at 8:36
A distinct lack of keyboards on this one gave the album a harder edge. But the songs are great and Gary Moon does splendid job.

From: TIM (2) Date: May 28, 2004 at 4:22
Fair enough, and to be honest the last time they really excited me was about 3/4 tracks off "Man In Motion" so maybe I'm not the best judge. But this just doesn't move me at all, "Try (For Good Reason" is a decent tune but the sound needs more layers and depth to it. And vocally this disappoints, where they've always been strong in the past... I'll just stick to the older stuff!

From: Rockhead Date: May 28, 2004 at 4:25
Tim (2) I take your comments-after all we cannot all like the same stuff (how boring would that be). I think they missed Jack Blades's melody and also some keyboards would have softened the overall effect. I do love Brad Gillis's guitar style though and this is probably a factor as to why I like it. Another classic case of "if it had been called a different name-it would have been more readily accepted"

Definately the worst NR release, and one that really misses the input of Jack Blades and Jeff Watson. It's still not a bad album by any stretch of the imagination and Gary Moon does do a good job throughout. It is when you put it up against any of the previous 5 studio releases that it's shortcomings become apparent.

From: Geoff Date: August 29, 2004 at 22:12
I don't think this is even close to being the worst Night Ranger release. 'Last chance' is one of my favourite Night Ranger songs of all. Overall, I think it's a good solid collection of hard rock. 'Precious time' is a good song too...

From: Nick C Date: March 10, 2005 at 16:37
I think Jez and pretty much nails it here....this is their weakest release but it still has a good handful of excellent tracks. It is overall a good CD and still gets a spin. I think the change in sound due to absent friends delivered a curveball that threw a lot of their fan base off guard. Maybe it should've been released under another band name.

From: Trick Taylor Date: November 1, 2005 at 10:39
Sitting in a bar in 1995 hearing "Precious Time" and not knowing who sang it. I have been searching for that song for 10 years and finally found this disc. Low and behold the whole thing is great. This will likely always be ignored due to the line-up, but Mojo packs a wallop with perfert AOR and some harder stuff too. "Last Chance" and the Frampton cover are real standouts. Don't ignore this if you see it cheap. It will be $$$ well spendt.

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 8:57
Definitely not the worst Night Ranger Jez actually the best Night Ranger since reforming and that's coming from A Jack Blades fan.Their plenty of guitar riffs of old on this unlike the new one.

From: Leykis101 Date: June 25, 2008 at 6:20
This is a tremendous effort and better then anything they've done since, Music Box is just a flat out hard rock tune, but these people talking about they lost the NR sound? Tell Me I'm Wrong is almost vintage NR sound

From: DonDefo Date: December 23, 2010 at 11:49
I was not sure about it some time ago but now I find this cd quite ear-pleasing.

From: DonDefo Date: December 23, 2010 at 11:49
Precious Time is my fav.

From: hair metal again Date: June 7, 2011 at 5:41
top class release by NIGHT RANGER even if Jack Blades and Jeff Watson arent present.Gary Moon is fantastic from every aspect and truly deserves to be a ranger!David Prater in production achieves perfection and the band seems solid!many great rockers like "music box","try (for good reason)" and "last chance" .a must have

From: edwithmj Date: December 6, 2012 at 9:27
Certainly different but not a bad album at all. Gary Moon sounds a bit like Donnie Vie from Enuff Z'Nuff. I'd have to say Last Chance and Try (For Good Reason) are my favourites from this. It's not classic Night Ranger, just decent hard rock.

From: Doug Date: September 28, 2016 at 13:33
Picked this up the other day, curious to hear NR sound without Blades and Watson. IMO, Jack Blades is so talented that he is hard to replace, but I thought this album was pretty decent. Surprised Gary Moon did not land somewhere else? Maybe he did, not sure?
