Lovex return with their new album 'State Of Mind' and immediately noticeable is a slight change in sound, compared to the past, especially on the opening 3 cuts. Opener 'Fighter' has a slight Dubstep influence in parts, whilst 'Action' & 'Don Juan' are the 2 obvious singles featured, more commercial sounding with a more Pop sound to them than previous. The album continues in more familiar sounding territory from then on, with 2 great ballads 'Yours To Keep' and 'Walking Away', 'Bad' a superb, uptempo rocker, 'Edge Of Sanity','When The Lights Go Down', 'Save A Life' and the excellent 'Miracle', fine songs with some strong choruses throughout. My only niggle here is the playing length, a very stingy 35 minutes, even with the 'bonus' track included. To summarise then, it's short, sharp, catchy as hell, the first 3 songs may put a few existing fans off with their more Pop angle, but to these ears, this is another fantastic disc to go along with their already fine discography.
