Modern KISS at their best, before they went too damn commercial with Asylum and Crazy Nights. This cd and Animalize were the best of the 80's stuff they did

From: Jorge Date: August 18, 2001 at 3:18
Azylum, Crazy Nights and Hot in the Shade are the best KISS albums at all time!

From: bpropst140 Date: August 24, 2001 at 18:11
KISS in the 80s was still... KISS--- the hottest band in the world!!!

From: SHAG Date: October 15, 2001 at 13:29
You said it T-BONE!! This was the first KISS album that REALLY, REALLY rocked since Love Gun!!! Kiss had it all on this album!!! Vinnie Vincent is awesome!!!!!!!!

From: Curious B Date: January 31, 2002 at 13:39
In my opinion, the last KISS album that rocked. They were still hungry to prove themselves on this album. Creatures was not a commercial success so they poured their rock n' roll guts into this. Gene is the "Demon" in "Not for the Innocent","Young and Wasted" and "Fits Like a Glove". A recommended buy for the KISS and Heavy Metal fans.

From: Date: February 10, 2002 at 11:55
Lick it up,Animalize,Asylum, crazy nights & Hot in the shade Best albums Of KISS.Viva Kiss!!!!!!

From: GIORGOS Date: March 8, 2002 at 12:46
A great first step for the non-make up KISS. Vinnie Vincent's playing is incomparable and after listening to his solo stuff I definately say he's the best American guitarist of the decade. Together with Paul they made songs like "Exciter" or "A Million To One" sound like anthems.

From: Tony Date: April 23, 2002 at 10:53
Gene & Paul will hate this but Vinnie Vincent saved their ASSES on this album. Great comeback album and excellent follow-up to "Creatures". Once again just like "Creatures" more "metal" than Kiss has ever been. This time period for Kiss is just so underrated to me because I firmly believe there wouldn't have ever been a reunion tour in 96' if not for this album and the previous one because nobody would have CARED in the nineties!!! Great 80's hard rock album.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 1, 2002 at 13:43
A pure ball to the wall album, if you love rock music that intense, animalistic, and full of energy, than get this album. These guys are animals, they know how to rock. Just listen to GIMME MORE, DANCE ALL OVER YOUR FACE, NOT FOR THE INNOCENT, LICK IT UP AND EVERY OTHER SONG. you will be hooked on Kiss.rock on

From: jarett r. Date: August 10, 2002 at 11:17
before kiss vinnie vincent recorded at least one album with the band treasure

From: Reno Date: August 11, 2002 at 3:32
He recorded under his real name of Vincent Cusano. The album isn't great, but ok. I've had it for a long time. It's nice to buy things for cheap when someone doesn't know what they have. I got mine at a garage sale for .50 cents.

From: Reno Date: August 11, 2002 at 3:37
he album has Felix Cavaliere on vocals, Vinnie on Lead and 12 string, Jack Scarangella on Drums, and Rick Laird on Bass. Tracks are: 01. I Wanna Love You, 02. Innocent Eyes, 03. Love Me Tonight, 04. Jubilation, 05. When the Sun Shines,

Kiss son especiales.Tienen ese "algo" que no sabes como definirlo pero que,no obstante, te cautiva por doquier.Gran album.

From: iNjEcTtheVeNoM Date: January 21, 2003 at 16:46
a half-step down from the intensity of "creatures"but still damn good..."exciter""not for the innocent""young and wasted" totally rock..."lick it up"was a huge comeback hit song/video..and wayyyy before limp bizkit or linkin park(or even aerosmith who get all the credit/blame)combined rap and rock, paul stanley was rappin' on"all hells breakin loose"a great tune...and even the filler type stuff, like "dance all over your face"rocks.great album

From: CHIRO Date: April 9, 2003 at 20:00
THIS ALBUM IS OK.....IT IS NOT AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM BUT IT HAS REAL COOL SONGS...IT IS A STEP BEHIND OF A MUST OWN

Vinnie Vincent re-recorded the songs after Warren DeMartini was replaced by Vinnie

From: steve Date: May 7, 2003 at 13:04
best KISS from this era, lick it up is great

From: Metal T Date: October 5, 2003 at 22:51
Kiss are a joke!Like Motley Crue,Kiss are highly overrated dog crap Sex is their motivation and money is their god.Kiss are not worthy of master shredders like Vinnie Vincent and Mark St.John.

From: Scandinavia Date: October 6, 2003 at 6:30
Hey...You don't like rock'n'roll??? Get the fuck outta here...Vinnie & Mark?? Master shredders?? Get real...

From: Apoc_DOP Date: January 2, 2004 at 19:25
Unbelievable that an album with this much power wasn't played more on radio. This was a great album that will never get enough praise. Unfortunately we see Ace gone for good here and Gene off becoming a movie star. This shows up in the record. Don't misunderstand, I thought Vinnie was great here, but doomed to failure due to the BIG shoes he stepped into. You cannot claim to be a Kiss fan and not own this album. Unfortunately Vinnie doesn't last...Cue Da Bruce!!

From: Kiss Fan- Br Date: January 23, 2004 at 2:40
Hey, Metal T! Kill yourself, please! Go to hear "Nu Meatl" crap or something!

From: sinner Date: February 22, 2004 at 0:37
Eric Carr's hard hitting style & sound paved the way for Kiss' 80's metal sound/scene sans the make-up (the white & black, anyway!). Does not much matter who played lead woth Paul's songwriting prowess. Had Gene not diverted into other interests, Kiss may have followed Creatures & Lick it Up with equally strong performances! Stanley carried this band largely in the 80's. Great to see Gene pick up the ball on classics like hot in the shade, revenge & carnival of souls! Class act!- rock epitomized

From: IGNACIO Date: May 20, 2004 at 19:50
WHEN THEY TOOK OFF THE MAKE UP THEY HAD TO SHOW THAT THERE WAS A GREAT BAND BEHIND,A ND SO THEY DID WITH THIS ALBUM. IT WAS A SHOCK ALL OVER THE WORLD, EVEN IN SPAIN WAS ON TV IN THE NEWS. THEY CAME ON TOUR TO SPAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH THE LICK IT UP TOUR. LOVE YOU GUYS

From: jack Date: May 21, 2004 at 2:46
One of kiss best and heaviest album. Hey,I think MICHAEL JACKSON and Kiss work pretty well together even through michael isn't really a hard rock/metal artist. This album is way better and heavier than unmasked.Rating:9.5/10

From: Rockhead Date: May 21, 2004 at 8:24
Point of Interest-It is not THE Michael Jackson. This Michael James Jackson is a successful producer NOT performer and professional babysitter.

From: Blue Charvel Date: May 21, 2004 at 11:24
So it's not Michael Jackson, the renowned (SP) beer connoisseur and author either? I suppose not...

From: Rockhead Date: May 21, 2004 at 11:40
Cheeky!!!-It could be him I suppose

From: jack Date: May 24, 2004 at 5:15
Wow,its not michael jackson, the king of pop!All the while i thought it was him. What would michael jackson and kiss have in common?MIchael jackson's 'makeup' gets more attention than kiss's.

From: Gar Date: May 24, 2004 at 15:15
I think this album is overrated. At the time, people were thrilled that KISS was putting the focus on the music before the image. They had a string of lackluster albums(not including "Creatures of the Night") so this being a decent one seemed to be much better than it actually was. It's really just an average album. They've done much worse, but this doesn't come close to being their best.

From: jack Date: June 24, 2004 at 5:03
I understand KISS putting music before image at that time but don't they always? Most people(especially the teenager) might be more absorbed by the image of the 70's kiss but i have always been inspired(don't know why) and attrated to their music much more. Well,to add more twist to the kiss saga, maybe kiss also made it big with this album because of their 'image'(the unmasking of their makeup etc that made all the fans so fascinated).

From: jack Date: June 24, 2004 at 5:05
Anyway, ithink it would be more cool and suitable if kiss would have done all these removing of makeup in their UNMASKED album!

From: Big Papa K Date: June 27, 2004 at 0:41
Vinnie Vincent adds something new to the lineup. Too bad it is generic hair metal. Yes, the title track is classic, but what else here sticks out? 4/10

From: Rockhead Date: June 27, 2004 at 9:15
Exirer, Not for the innocent, Young and Wasted and the brilliant million to one are the highlights on this album. 4/10 my ass-this is a great hard rock record.

From: Dean Date: June 27, 2004 at 18:57
Even though I'm not a rap fan I thought "All hell's breakin' loose" "And on the 8th day" and "Dance all over your face" kicked ass on this one. 8/10

From: Andy Date: June 30, 2004 at 8:39
KISS second best ever album, to Creatures that is!

From: K.K. Poland Date: August 16, 2004 at 5:46
LICK IT UP!!! LICK IT UP!!!! OH YEAH, THIS IS ROCK'N'ROLL!!!! THIS IS WHAT WE NEED, "WILD NIGHTS + WOMEN + ROCK'N'ROLL = KISS"

From: Geoff Date: August 16, 2004 at 20:19
Yeah, this one is a cool hard rock release. Not my favourite Kiss album of all and I hate to admit it, but the title track is so damn catchy! Cool hard rock album. 6/10

From: pt88 Date: January 20, 2005 at 13:17
Quite honestly I had this record but it was the least listened to record. I thought the music had an edgy attitude but one of the stupidest lyricaly. Listening to Gimme More I just hated. The mentality of the song and record just didn't work for me. The only songs I didn't mind were All Hells..And on the 8th day.

From: wzcj02 Date: April 9, 2006 at 11:40
Not a bad a album but perhaps alittle over rated as far as their 80's albums go. "Million to One" is however , one of there best ever songs, its catchy and powerful. The album has a good vibe but is alittle too slow at times.

From: evileric71 Date: December 21, 2006 at 10:52
Ah everybody thinks they know shit. Warren DeMartini NEVER played with Kiss, but alas everybody thinks Vinnie played everything on this album. Not so, kiddies. At least 2 of the songs are handled by none other than Rick Derringer and at least 2 others are being handled by Steve F. Can't remember his last name off the top of my head. But he is the guy that if you all paid attention to your Kiss history was the guy who plays on most of Creatures and had a contract to join the band. L.I.U. is #1.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 12, 2007 at 13:07
Great Hard Rock, de sus mejores trabajos en esta decada unica un album bien compacto con un estilo y nivel bien pulido solo escuchar cortes como A Million to One o Exciter se nota eso 9/10

From: ferstyx Date: October 2, 2007 at 18:32
Tdod un acontecimiento fue ver el video de Lick it up. Aqui en Lima en un programa promocionaban continuamente la premier del video. Claro era la primera vez que uno los veia sin mascaras. Young and Wasted, Fits Like a Glove , Exciter Y Lick it up grandes temas. Otro buen legado de este grupo

From: Rycheage Date: October 28, 2007 at 18:56
Vinnie Vincent does add a dimension to KISS that had been lacking. His playing is very good and makes this one hell of a rocking album. The title track everyone knows but "Dance All Over Your Face", "Not For The Innocent", "All Hell's Breaking Loose" and "Fits Like A Glove" showcase a harder, more raw KISS than ever before.

From: lalorock Date: November 25, 2007 at 22:11

From: kai Date: August 24, 2008 at 22:00
The first non-makeup KISS record and a good follow up to "Creatures Of The Night". Some great tunes like "Exciter" (this song really rocks!!!!) "A Million To One" (brilliant), "Not For The Innocent", and "Young And Wasted". Highly recommendable.

From: pie75 Date: July 26, 2010 at 1:41
vinnie vincent collaborated beautifully with paul and gene on here a fine album where kiss took off the make up and made it all about the music picks up where creatures left off from beginning to end exciter rocks also love not for the innocent, all hell's breaking loose a million to one dance all over your face and on the 8th day but it was the title track that made this really memerable and put kiss back in the big leagues again lick it up still sounds great today one of my favourites

From: underworld king Date: January 9, 2015 at 11:00
The best non-makeup lp of KISS for me. As stated above, a continuation of where Creatures Of The Night left off. Great lp for all KISS fans! The Japanese pressing of the lp cover is a cover of the then current band in the makeup.

From: edwithmj Date: January 27, 2015 at 17:52
This is about half filler for me. Exciter is just dull and lifeless; Not for the Innocent is listenable but hardly stand-out for me; Lick It Up is monotonous but I find myself coming back to this one so I'd say this is a winner; Young and Wasted is listenable, just; All Hell's Breakin' Loose is a winner and Stanley's vocals are almost rap at the start; A Million To One is a decent enough semi-ballad and I don't mind it at all. The last one I can remember from this album is On the 8th Day which is a standard Gene-sung rocker; I can take it or leave it. Average hard rock fare.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: December 15, 2018 at 19:35
A heavier album that the common releases of the band...saw them live on the Tour of this one with Helix as the opening act in Lisbon-Portugal.My fave tracks are 1,3(hit single),4,5,6 & 8...some comments above are not good at all towards it but in my case i think it's quite a decent record with good songs in it.85/100
