An overlooked gem. These ladies rock! Lots of hooks, great rock vocals, and killer guitar work. They put every other "chick metal" band to shame. They don't even belong in that class -- they are in the big boys' league!

From: Neuf Date: July 21, 2001 at 11:05
This CD is, and always will be, one of my all-time favorites! DEFINITELY pick up this CD if you can find it. You WON'T regret it.

From: T-BONE Date: August 11, 2001 at 9:16
Kool cd cover, but it's what's inside that counts. Rock n' Roll to the purest level! Better than the first, edgier guitars and lyrics. Go get it NOW!!!

From: Ronnie Date: September 30, 2001 at 1:15
John Norum helped out on this one....Good guitar....These girls rock!!

From: jog Date: December 12, 2001 at 6:47
forget the all girl heavymetal thing this is just a top class heavymetal band you wont be disappointed by this or their self titled album, both great listens. Nothing good comes easy is a classic, with songs like My Misery and Better off dead they ain't easy to beat. definately recommended.

From: Dragonfly Date: December 16, 2001 at 17:36
Listen to "Little Man" this tune is worth the price just by itself. There are other great tunes on here too. A total rock must have.

From: Tony Date: April 10, 2002 at 3:53
Awesome guitar playing and musicianship but the songwriting is a little too by the numbers and predictable. A great cd though to hand over to anyone who doesn't believe women can rock.

From: fretboardfrenzy Date: September 16, 2002 at 18:46
great band, killer album guitar work is amazing, songs r highest calibre.. granite rhythm section, TUFF band! michelle meldrum is definately guitar hero why she did not solo album?

From: Steve T Date: September 16, 2002 at 19:06
Great album. The Thin Lizzy cover is awesome and the sound is typical Max Norman. Big and loud. Michelle Meldrum has her own band now, called MELDRUM, and an album out called Loaded Mental Cannon.Check it out...it's good stuff.

Can someone please tell me if these chicks are as good as Smashed Gladys??, If not, are they similar?? Thankyou

From: nanteau Date: March 26, 2004 at 18:58
Of course, David, they are "similar" .. quite similar to Smashed Gladys. Well, I only know one song of Smashed Gladys called "Eye of the storm" (from the album "Metal Queens" alongside Joan Jett, Joanna Dean, Princess Pang and other artists in that vain), but that song is very cool and kind of "girly heavy metal" like Phantom Blue is (in fact I only know Phantom Blue's first album, this must be even more heavy) By the way, I don't like the CD cover of this one T-Bone!!

From: BORDER RAT Date: April 23, 2004 at 9:47
These ladies are great on this cd.I prefer this to the debut. They are one of the best all female rock bands and deserve a Diadem for their contribution to rock.Does anyone know what their third cd sounds like?It was never made commercially available and only available from the band members directly. No one has posted a review on it yet! These ladies look good, sound good and made a hard rock masterpiece.

From: tomcat Date: April 24, 2004 at 9:12
aah, the winter of 1993,these ladies sure rocked my world then..great songs here , check out: 'anti love crunch','a little evil',loved ya to pieces'..so much better than their debut.. i was so in love with this band when i was 19

Love this Band, So much I named my email address after their title to their 2nd cd. I know Gigi Hangach is no longer their lead singer. If anyone knows if she is still singing in another band please drop me a line. Builttoperform@hotmail.com

An awesome follow-up to a hard to beat debut, but they manage to stay on par and crank out some serious jams. After hearing this one, I wanted to move to one of those countries where I could legally marry all five of them. Now that would be heaven.

When the rock n' roll battle of the sexes is waged, this disc will be spinning in the women's corner 10/10.Not a bad song here.Gigi is a great singer I don't think shes done anything major I wish she would get back behind the mike.I heard Gigi and Jake E. Lee were dating awhile back.I'd love to see the two of them put something together.Time To Run is a classic,Little Man,Love ya to Pieces,Nothin Good, and Better Off Dead all rock hard and You Lied To Me,So Easy & You're Free are great mid tempo.

From: dlammers Date: June 16, 2007 at 21:43
Not only the best female metal band that ever existed, but this band could stand toe-to-toe with any metal band alive, Yup. It's that damn good.

From: metalmastermusic Date: June 17, 2008 at 12:38
Not a bad album at all for these fine young ladies !! I liked it better than there Vixen counterparts. The songs have a certian clarity to them only found by female vocalists. As a guitar nut I find this to be a fairly solid effort on the 6 string and the vocals are much above average. If you like Vixen then you will like thsi group even better. 82/100

WOW. This ain't no wussy ass Vixen shit here, these ladies rock! Good heavy riffs, and, while not the most memorable songs you will ever hear, they definitely do rock. This should be in your collection alongside all the other real womwn of rock n roll.

Its been almost 3 years since I last commented on this supreme cd and I listen to it on a regular basis. If you want something to crank up to 11 and rock your ass off this is it.The song "Time To Run" is possibly the finest melodic metal song ever written, it still gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it,AWESOME!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 6, 2010 at 22:56

way more heavier than vixen. this album is pretty good. the production is well done. my faves here: my misery, better off dead and time to run.

From: MelodicMetal4Ever Date: December 11, 2011 at 20:29
ok..i've listened to BOTH albums by Phantom Blue and have to say..I don't see what everyone else apparently does. YES, they DO know how to ROCK thats for sure. But the vocals are drowned. and IMO WHERE is the MELODY?? I know many have said Phantom Blue is SO much better then Vixen. I have to disagree...Vixen had some many catchy songs. I liked 2 songs from this cd. "Time To Run" not much melody but a very catchy heavy riff. The other is "Loved Ya To Pieces" the ONLY melody i've found on this cd. Just my 2 cents. Keep Rockin'!
