Fantastic CD! The Throbs rock your ass out, in my opinion it should have a raw production, but the songs rule!!

The voice remainds Alice Cooper, the sound... sleaze rock and a little darkness like the first Cult. Amazing album, get it if u can. It's a pity that this band didn't have the success! I can't believe that I get this CD in a second hand records shop in Madrid (Spain).

I worked with Ronnie Sweatheart for the past 3 years in his current job. I just wanted to say the Throbs Rock and Ronnie is still rocking and doing shows in New York. I gotta tell ya its pretty trippy working with a semi-rockstar but he is a cool guy. He is thinking about getting the band back together and i think he definetly should. I heard and unreleased copy of a song called "stacy" it is awesome.

It's funny you mentioned these guys. I was listening to Sweet Addiction today and recorded for a site member. Cool tune.

I saw the Throbs play in 1991 at the Marquee in London. They were a terrific band and the album does them justice. They used to do a song called Crying in their demo days and it was superb. I hope they do reform.

This CD flat out rules. Way more like the Stones or NY Dolls than typical glam. I remember when these guys were being touted as the next GNR when all of the sudden glam hit, and we all knw what happened after that. I agree with a previous post that this album could have benefited from grittier production. Great bluesy raunch 'n roll.

You know, Rock N' Roll is an obsession that eats at your guts from the inside out!!! And the Throbs get under your skin with their snarling attitude and aggressive attacks to rip thru your sleazy thick flesh and blister your ass with their street smart savvy!!! The Throbs lash out with outragious fortune on "Underground", "Come Down Sister" and "Rip It Up" proving this is as good as it gets!!! The Throbs growing up around that fast-paced, screw your brother mentallity---

Some of you have got to be kidding! This album is very, very bad. Sweetheart's vocal's are not professional quality and often bog down otherwise servicable songs. I decided to give this another try on a road trip and soon realized why it hasn't seen the light of day, or the inside of my player, in years. "Honeychild" has its moments, but all in all this is nearly unlistenable.

i just got a copy of this album at a local pawnshop. the band photo in the liner notes looks almost exactly like the band photo in l.a. guns's cocked and loaded's liner notes. possibly on purpose since kelly nickols and ronnie magri were in sweet pain together.

a question for roni magri: was the sweet pain you and kelly nickols were in the same sweet pain that scarlet rowe from saigon saloon was in?

A message to Ronnie Magri: I knew you back when you were in the Throbs. I'm glad to know you are doing so well now, and wish you much success. Like Brain Setzer had done with bringing the big band sound back into popularity, you might just be onto something really big with your new project. I saw pictures of you in that interview you did, you look great!

I was at the reunion show,(Don Hill's '03)and it was GLO-ORIOUS!Ronnie Magri was even more kick ass on his STYLE,as he was on his drums, and he's one hell of a drummer.Roger Ericson's guitar playing was up there with Clapton or Page on a GOOD Day.Danny's bass playing was average, he must have been practicing!!His girlfriend was Hot as Hell though! And Now,Ronnie Sweetheart,Rock-n-Roll Legend,Teenage Pinup, and Idle to 100's sounded drunk and his G-string cut into his lovehandles.C U at the LA show!

I love this album, one of the bests from that period. "Underground" is one of my favourite songs ever.

I love this album, but the vocals aren't exactly 'inviting' at first. It kinda has the dark vibe that TSOL had on their Strange Love record, if that's any idea. Personally, I think the best songs are Ecstacy and Only Way Out, the album's two ballads. Incidentally these are sung in a completely different style, and shows off that Sweetheart did have a great standard singing voice... those two tracks sound a LOT like Dogs D'amour! Check it out, but be aware that it is a little 'different'.

This was never my personal favourite CD, but I can see how people would dig it. It's been in my collection since the start and is still there, so I guess it's doing something right by me. Good solid hard rock CD, but to be honest there's nothing that really sticks out at me...

Yes, Danny is also playing in Faster Pussycat, as well as Motochrist. FPC were inactive this summer and didn't seem to do much of anything. "The Language Of Thieves And Vagabonds" is one of my favorite hard rock records ever. It captured that gritty NYC hard rock sound of the time and there's not one bad song on this disc. Pick it up ASAP!!

Great band, great songs & great attitude. The Throbs spent some time in Hollywood, back in the late 1980's. The band were very nice guys and we had quite a lot of fun...and I will ditto the above post...anyone know where Sweetheart is now days????

i've heard that danny nordahl also played in angels in vain. i know that ronnie roze and brian keats from princess pang did. i've also heard that kelly nichols did. of course, they didn't all necessarily play in the band at the same time...

excellent hard rock release by THE THROBS.great attitude, sound and many good songs from a band that could achieve more if they had a more commercial edge in some of the songs.sweetheart s voice reminds me of alice cooper or dogs d amour.excellent production by bob ezrin and the only problem is that you cant find a really catchy chorus.overall though this essential for every hard rock collection

The track listing is all messed up here, compared to the copy I've got anyway. Great rock n' roll album in the style of Dogs D' Amour and Red Dogs, although not as instantly catching as Red Dogs "Working Late" album. Overall above average record, "Ecstacy" stands out as my favourite cut.

Kick ass album. Raw and sleazy, I like this WAR BABIES, TSOL, ASPALT BALLET, BILLY IDOL vibe in some of their songs!
