Is this my fave RS release?? Possibly, a comeback album of sorts and another killer. I think a good indication of a great album is if you can read the tracklist and sing it. I can with this (with the exception of His Last Words which is a spoken word collage). The first track proper is Itsalwaysomething is crazily infectious in fact in the main they all are. My real standout tracks would be In Veronica's Head, The afforementioned Something, Free, The White Room...aw fergeddit they're all great. |

Very nice disc. Perhaps a little more mellow than previous work, but some very, very fine song writing on display here. I love this guy's lyrics, and this album displays why. Excellent songwriter. Like Nick, my fave track is 'Veronica's Head'. Overall this is a good solid disc. |

There is absolutely no doubting the quality of the song writing. The production is just enormous. As expected there are layers upon layers of guitars, keyboards, synthesizers and vocals. In fact despite the ultra smooth style of the album, the vocals are quite live and raw in places. If you don't love this album straight up, I can see no reason why you won't after a few days as the songs here are infectious and memorable and simply undispensable. |

A matter of tastes 123charpenay...for it me was more than a decent album...Rick is well known by being a musician that usually tends to display good music and this "Karma" ain't no exception IMHO...best cuts of it are "Prayer"(excellent),"The White Room","Religion Of The Heart","Shock To My System"(nice)& "In Veronica's Head"....i have the japanese edition of this album that ommited the song "His Last Words" and added an acoustic version of "Jessie's Girl" instead(quite a filler IMO)...80/100 |

ok rick it is always a matter of tastes.but have you listen the difference between "living in oz" (witch is a real masterpiece) and this poor record? |
From: rick kerch vzla | Date: November 2, 2011 at 20:50 |
Yeah 123charpenay,i understand your point of view about the album...this one has nothing to do with the fantastic "Living In Oz" release or "Tao" or even "Rock Of Life"(just to mention some other great releases of Rick) but we have to admit(and that's when i say a matter of tastes or tastes differ)that this album,at least for me,has something to offer...not a masterpiece but a decent album...is like Metallica's "Kill'Em All" and "St Anger"...which one is a masterpiece and which one isn't????... cheers mate |
