If you havenīt heard the song "Future World", you are not a true metal fan. The song is one of the greatest ever written and performed metal songs. In fact, this album would make any "Best metal albums of all time"-list. But just because they didnīt sell millions of records like Iron Maiden or hit it big in USA the album is not on any list. Check out all their albums, you wonīt regret it. Melodic metal at itīs best. This band is a victim of big company bosses that didnīt like class metal.

I haven't got Van Halen 1, Destroyer (Kiss) and Y&T Black Tiger (I've got only Dr. Feelgood). Iīve prefered to get Hardline - Double Eclipse, Kiss - Crazy Nights, Nelson - After The Rain, Swedish Erotica and Fair Warning! Classic isn't the same of good stuff!

These guys had really sucky label support...that's probably the main reason you have never heard them. Although, they did well on Z-Rock when they were around. Do yourself a favor, and buy one of the greatest sleeper albums in Rock history.

This is one of the first album I bought(many years ago),I loved the video of the song Love Games.Sometimes It seems to hear two different singers in the heavier songs the voice of Ronnie gets rough. In their new albums I miss the presence of melodic rock songs like Rodeo or Love games.Hoewever They still do great ballads and good havy rock songs. I miss also the cover with the beautiful girl from outer space, Pretty Maids get her back. She was like Eddie for Iron Maiden.

This one is excellent. Its a must for melodic hardrock/metal. I purchased this after hearing it from a friend's brother in 1987. I only had the tape then. About 7 years ago when it was long gone a friend and myself were at a local pawn shop. There I found Future World on cd in excellent shape. I paid $4 for it. What luck!!! This is by far their best album very polished, catchy, very well produced. A++++

This album is surely a must-have! At first some of the tracks may appear trivial but listen to details and especially the keyboard. If you then compare PM to other bands around that time you'll hopefully realize this album is a real trailblazer. So much atmosphere and feel even when they're doing 200 mph. U can hear their ambition in every tune. AMAZING! Only bad thing is the production. Too different from tune 2 tune. Compare "Love Games" and "Loud'n'Proud" and you'll hear what I mean...

What happened to this band? I mean after Allan Delong and Phil Morehead left this band, something was gone with them. First five albums is best melodic hard rock entertainment ever, but lookin now this band I donīt care even buy the records anymore. Future World is one of my top 10 all time record and itīs one of those great 1987 masterpieces what was made that year for hard rock lovers. Somethings (and some music) should never chance. "waitin for the time to come".

RR. You should give them another try. They changed a bit over the years. Thank god for that. I love their early stuff, but many hard rock/heavy metal bands, just get stuck in time, Pretty Maids havent. Theyre still awesome.

Youīre partly right Great Dane! Things have to roll and bands donīt have to get jammed in time. Sometimes just feels like some 80īs bands donīt reach their "modern" sound anymore as good that they did back in ī80s! Every decade has somekind of style and some music is more played on radio. I just wathed "Golden Child" (that Eddie Murphy movie) from tv and I just loved those cliche 80īs style synths on the backround and what kind of music they played on film (Ratt etc.) and all those back days fee

...feelings on it! Maybe some kid watches Matrix 17 years after and founds same feelings and emotions what I did with those 80īs shit and thinks that 00īs was best decade in musicbisnes! I love Pretty Maids in early albums, becouse my music interests are basicly good melodies, great keyboards, awesome vocals and powerfull choruses. FUTURE WORLD and those early albums includes all that! I deffinitely donīt blame this band, for what they have done in last few years or what their thing is nowadays.

I've been pretty left out until now when it comes to Pretty Maids. The only tune I had heard up until now was Future World. A friend sent me all the MP3's of their cd's and I blown away to say the least. On just about every cd I've listened to so far, they have 2 very different sides to them. On one hand, they have the power of Maiden and Dio and on the other, they have the smoothness and melody of Def Leppard and Journey. Thats a big variety to throw into one band but they do it very well!
|
From: Reno |
Date: October 5, 2003 at 21:05 |
Favorite tracks for this cd are Future World because of its cross between power, melodic and progressive. We Came To Rock because of it's great riffage and Anthem-like chorus, and Rodeo because it slows down and shows the other side of the band

Whoaaa. Im from this bands homecountry and have been listening to them forever, but apparently I forgot how good this cd is. Its without weak spots. The track Yellow Rain is phenomenal. It start with some acoustic playing and some cool singing, but soon turns into a hard rockin' tune which has it all. Cool guitar playing.

Excellent hard-rock, with the odd killer AOR moment. Huge production too. "Love Games" got me into this genre in the first place, I remember seeing the video (a good few years after it's release) and loving it. The verse-bridge section of the song is brilliant. I loved their early releases but am not fussed by the more recent albums.

Pretty Maids always jump all over the rock spectrum on their albums, shifting one minute from aor then to speed metal and then to hard rock. This is their most well known album and contains their signature tune, "Future World". Other strong cuts are the aor tune "Love Games" and "Yellow Rain". 6/10

I'm actually a little separated here because many lable this the best PM album, but from me it all began with the next one. 'We came to rock' and the excellent 'Eye of the storm' are my faves here. I note everyone loves 'Love games' and I think the reason why this album is not my fave of the collection (Though still excellent) is because the verses are perfect, but I just don't like the chorus. Awesome band, great CD, but I'd have loved better choruses, to be honest...

A big drop in quality from Pretty Maids in my opinion. The title track is one of my favourite songs EVER, an extremely strong, driving rock song, but the rest of the album is very bland and not memorable at all. Worth 6/10 for the first track alone, but give me Red, Hot & Heavy or Jump The Gun any day.

The last comment is about the only intelligent thing said on this album! Why all the love for this album? Overall it is average at best and fairly generic. 'Future World' is a good opener and 'Love Games' is an excellent AOR song, but the rest I could take or leave. A million miles from their EXCELLENT 'Jump The Gun' and 'Spooked' albums IMO.

I don't have an over all favorite cd from these guys, but after listening to this today, I'd put it at the top for sure. I first heard this through the video for Future World, and I was like wow! Then a friend of a friend had the tape and it blew us away! I still like them to this day, but not a huge fan of the direction that they have gone in. Future World, Love Games, Proud To Be Loud, We Came To Rock, & Rodeo are my favorites. I recommend.
