From: Kim123 Date: July 14, 2001 at 16:48
This cd has caused me soooo much trouble. You cant imagine how many complaints Ive received from neighbours, because Ive played this cd LOUD in the middle og the night. its AWESOME. Absolutely a TOP 10 of all times.

Excellent AOR/hard rock CD. Totally recommended. "It Takes Two", "I'm A Believer" and the super hit "I'll See You In My Dreams" highlight this great CD. Get it now!!

From: Harvey Date: November 17, 2001 at 5:55
Classy. Buy this and Time to Burn. Heard clips of their new album (simply called "III") and it sounds like a stormer. Can't wait!!

From: Rush Date: January 28, 2002 at 9:52
One of my top ten albums of all time.....simply stunning!!The new disc called III is also pretty good...but the first disc rules.

From: César Date: February 10, 2002 at 5:51
Great album of hard rock,I can´t let to hear Hold Back the Night.Listen to III also this Lp is a great album.

From: dokken6008 Date: March 21, 2002 at 13:06
Giant brought to us more of a clean rock and roll unlike their sleazy late-80's counter-parts such as Motley Crue, the LA Guns or Poison. 'Last Of The Runaways' is inspired tasteful keyboard rock without every song being about pimping around late at night & getting laid. Giant brought us a lot more than that. The ballads are very good as are the rockers (check out "Love Welcome Home" & "I'm A Believer", two EXCELLENT songs). The musicianship is solid & the songwriting is as well. A must-have.

From: Adolf Galland Date: April 19, 2002 at 0:08
Sehr Gut!!!

From: Desslar Date: April 19, 2002 at 0:57
Excellent AOR, with just enough rocking. Dann Huff has gone on to produce artists from Megadeth to Faith Hill.

From: James Date: May 11, 2002 at 21:13
I liked some of the songs on this cd but as a whole it lacked a certain "thing" to keep me intrested. I say try at our own risk. the risk is low because the songs I like are great, worth a used price

From: Reno Date: June 17, 2002 at 18:11
Awesome cd! Got it downloaded from Audiogalaxy, but I'm waiting for an original from eBay. Well worth buying. Compares to Hardline and Steelhouse Lane.

From: Kim Date: June 18, 2002 at 13:09
Forget my last comment Reno I just read this.

From: Rockforever Date: July 13, 2002 at 14:33
This debut album brought back the polished arena rock of the late70s/early80s,and was a nice alternative when at the time the rock scene was dominated mostly by glam-metal.Dann Huff's guitar playing is superb, while his soulful vocals remind me of the vocal god himself,Foreigner's Lou Gramm.Alan Pasqua's keyboards are subtle and melodic, while the rhythm section is tight and powerful.I'll See You in My Dreams was the biggesty hit,but there are many gems here. Time To Burn was even better.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 14, 2002 at 10:13

From: David Date: August 22, 2002 at 1:41
Does anyone know of any AOR band that competes with these guys?

From: Reno Date: August 22, 2002 at 2:15
I always said that they were a cross between Journey and Hardline, with a hint of Steelhouse Lane.

From: nitrodoll Date: August 22, 2002 at 3:24
just listen to the opening guitarsolo of this record...i'm a believer, that made me fall in love with this album..can't believe it's been 10 years ago that this was released , pfff times go fast nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

From: JAVIER Date: October 26, 2002 at 12:25

From: Desslar Date: October 30, 2002 at 0:27
Dude, they played the intro to I'm a Believer on Fox for the opening sequence of World Series game 7! Giant's back in the limelight.

From: rob garcia Date: January 18, 2003 at 15:57
A REAL MASTERPIECE!!.THE MOST INTELIGENT WAY OF MIXING POWER AND PASSION.....NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE! DOES IT BETTER THAN GIANT.

Nobody can do what Dann Huff does: To be one of the best guitar players in the world, and also a great singer!!

From: Great Dane Date: March 16, 2003 at 21:22
Perfect.

From: Metalhead Date: March 31, 2003 at 4:56
I've read alot of praises here in heavyharmonies to albums and bands that don't deserve even to be heard. Like that of Britney Fox. But on this band and album, its a different case. I'm glad to say that all of the comments above are true. The guitar playing here is a class of its own. The whole album is almost perfect.

From: MALLORCA´S Date: April 3, 2003 at 12:46
9/10 stop the war

From: Date: April 8, 2003 at 21:16
Is this a Christian band? because David W. Huff was in a Christian band called David and the Giants. Is that the same guy? Also I heard Reign Radio(a Christain station)play their stuff. And who is Dan Huff?

From: Metalhead Date: April 9, 2003 at 4:38
I'm sure you've already heard of Whitesnake's Here I Go Again. Dan Huff played on its radio version. I also saw his name listed as a guitarist on one Kenny Loggins album. That's all I know of him.

From: Tony BCN Date: April 9, 2003 at 13:16
Me gusta un montón.Aunque creo(también lo he escuchado más)que me gusta más el "Time to burn".Lo veo bastante más completo.

From: indio Date: April 11, 2003 at 11:37

From: Date: May 15, 2003 at 15:00
Hey, uh, "noname", this Dan Huff is a different dude than David & the Giants' Dan Huff. This Huff was in early WHITEHEART. Saw D&Giants several times in 80's - GOOD guys/musicians from Mississippi, but definitely diff guy. This Huff has played on just about EVERYBODY's songs with WIDE range of music, but his guitar sound/style is always recognizable - it just has that something special. My review: THIS MUSIC DIDN'T LEAVE MY PLAYER FOR A MONTH WHEN I 1st GOT IT - THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS!!

From: Alejandro Date: June 11, 2003 at 14:32

It don't get much better than this one (or the Time To Burn disc).I'm sure most people on this board own this one anyway so no more comments are needed.I'll just say that this EDGES the Time to Burn cd just...

From: John Date: August 13, 2003 at 15:22
If you can't get into an album that kicks off with 'I'm A Believer' followed by 'Innocent Days'...call the paramedics because you're either dead or dying. Dan Huff is a musical genius. Anyone who knocks a band this good has homosexual tendencies.

From: Chris Date: August 18, 2003 at 4:56
Good call John...Totally agree. Absolute classic.

From: pablo Date: September 6, 2003 at 9:24

I bought Last of the Runaways by chance when I was 12 (1989). The song I'll See You in My Dreams got me through some hard times and I tie it closely to my childhood. The tape over the years died out but I kept the song with me. I thought I was the only person who had ever heard of GIANT. After finding this site, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who thinks Last of the Runaways is a genius album that is masterfully done. My tastes have changed dramatically now (techno) but...

From: Witness Date: January 7, 2004 at 15:44
I plan on buying the Last of the Runaways CD when I can find it because I believe it is a must have for any true music lover... its composition, music and lyrics trancend time, culture and geography... the mark of a true classic. Witness

From: Riaan Date: April 30, 2004 at 4:30

One of the great aor albums. Dan Huff is one of the most talented musicians in the melodic rock world and this album showcases all side of that talent. A must have. 9/10

From: Marla (MJ) Date: July 19, 2004 at 0:16
WOW.....I haven't listened this in aeons!!! Forgot how GREAT this album is!!! "I'll See You In My Dreams" has always been very 'special' to me....but "I'm A Believer" just really hit me tonight!!! GREAT stuff!!!

From: thelostdj Date: July 19, 2004 at 3:32
Really great album and a good example of awesome song writing. Produced in 89' and easily holds it's own in 2004.

From: TIM (2) Date: July 20, 2004 at 5:18
Dug this out again the other day and it still sounds amazing. I remember reading originally the label didn't want Dann to sing on this, but it would've lost something without his passion and energy. A million dollar recording budget helps immensely, and is why no records in this century sound anything like this. The guitar playing is fabulous, just listen to the fade-out solo on "Hold Back the Night"... A classic, and just better than "Time to Burn" for me. 10/10.

From: Wotty Date: August 17, 2004 at 13:49
Another example of pure 80s quality.NUFF SAID....

From: Geoff Date: August 17, 2004 at 20:56
Yeah, not too much more you can say about this. Although it has it's fair share of fillers, the melodic songs are simply outstanding - 'Ill see you in my dreams', 'It takes two', 'Hold back the night' and 'Love welcome home' are ultimate gems for me in this great melodic rock disc. Beautiful vocals and musical delivery.

From: Wotty Date: August 20, 2004 at 16:27
The essential GIANT album....

From: MJ Date: August 27, 2004 at 11:48
Essential!

Wow, all guys posted good comments. I only want to add mine...fantastic album. Good guitar playing, good voice, good song writing, good cover...well, everything is perfect. "Love Welcome Home" is my wings to fly high. I knew about Mark Spiro first from this album, he is also great, check him out. Dann Huff rules.

From: oliver Date: October 8, 2004 at 10:41
perfect melodic rock. not a single filler on this album, a pure 10/10

From: Roxas Date: October 24, 2004 at 23:27
This is it, the greatest album of all time.

From: James Date: November 6, 2004 at 11:10
I've had the cassette (yes i said cassette) since it was released. I was never impressed with the album. I wanted to hear something different a couple weeks ago and i was going through my old cassettes and this album caught my eye. Gave it another shot and was blown away. this is a really good album. I'm not sure what i was thinking before, now i'll have to find the cd.

Intro from I'm A Believer is truly amazing. I also love the ballad, Love Welcome Home and of course I'll See You In My Dreams. Hold Back The Night also wonderful.

From: MikeL Date: January 6, 2005 at 20:44
First rate musicianship with tight songs. I like this one better than Time to Burn but Giant doesn't make a bad CD. These guys should be bigger than they are but they are recognized and appreciated by AOR fans everywhere and should be. It is much deserved. Get them all you will love this group.

From: Kristian Date: January 15, 2005 at 22:20
I can't stress the enormous talent of these musicians in every aspect. From playing their instruments to the vocals and the compositions. This could IMO well be the best AOR/Rock album ever made. This CD stirs up emotions like nothing else. With the way the music industry is going today, Im pretty sure we will never again hear anything as talented and pure class like this is. The thought of that makes me very sad. This is the gem in my collection along with Strangeways and Harem Scarem debut.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: February 6, 2005 at 10:16
HEY VISTO QUE VARIOS SORDOS AN ESCRITO ACA JAJAJA, DECIR QUE EL SIGUIENTE ALBUM ES MEJOR QUE ESTE, PARECE QUE ESTAN CHIFLADOS O NO TIENEN GUSTOS, SIN DUDA ESTE EL MEJOR ALBUM DE LOS GIANT TIENE 5 TEMAZOS Innocent Days, I'll See You in my Dreams, It Takes Two, Love Welcome Home, I'm a Believer 5 JOYAZAS DEL AOR Y EL HARD ROCK MELODICO, EL RESTO DE TEMAS NO DAN LA TALLA, ESTAN ORIENTADOS AL HARD ROCK TEMAS QUE PARA MI BAJAN LA CALIDAD DEL ALBUM

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: February 6, 2005 at 10:21
COMO CRITICO Y AMANTE DEL AOR Y HARD-ROCK MELODICO OPINO QUE UNA BANDA TAN BUENA COMO ESTA NO DEBIERON ORIENTARSE EN EL HARD ROCK. PERO EN AOR/HARD-ROCK MELODICO SON UNOS MOUNSTRUOS. ESPECIALMENTE POR David Huff QUE ES UN MUSICO COMPLETO DE LOS MEJORES.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: February 6, 2005 at 10:24
PERDON, Dann Huff QUE GRANDE.

From: Swriter Date: February 6, 2005 at 10:29
A must have!!!!!! how did this band not make it huge. Great hard rock class!!!!!

From: Erik Date: February 7, 2005 at 1:50
I soooo agree Swriter. This is truly a CLASSIC. Phenomenal songs from start to finish. Huge band and so talented. Still hope they will make it big some time.

From: Muddley Date: February 7, 2005 at 3:07
If I ever give a cd 10/10. It might be this one. its phenomenal. The production, the musicians and the tracks are awesome.

From: Erik Date: February 7, 2005 at 3:24
Hey Mudley also check out the 2001 release from Giant called 3. Thats also (almost) perfect.

From: AOR freaky Date: February 7, 2005 at 4:11
3 is even their best, Erik ! Only the production isn't as strong as on their previous ones ! Budget !

From: Erik Date: February 7, 2005 at 4:37
Maybe your right AOR freaky.. But to be honest i couldnot choose between both cd's. Both are brilliant. Giant is truly a GIANT among melodic rock bands.

From: z4roxx Date: February 7, 2005 at 13:24
"III"their best???ahahaha!!I can accept different opinions between first 2 but not about"III".I think"time to burn"top 10 aor album of ever, not"III"!!!

From: AOR U Ready! Date: February 7, 2005 at 13:37
Oh this is the best Giant CD ! Other ones only maybe half as good put together. After this one I say no more to listen to, it has been done !!

From: Erik Date: February 7, 2005 at 16:24
We have to disagree for once z4roxx. This album and III are by far better then Time to burn

From: AOR freaky Date: February 8, 2005 at 5:05
I agree with Erik on this one. On 'Time To Burn' the keys were completely gone ! A shame !

From: z4roxx Date: February 8, 2005 at 12:51
It's ok Erik, that's are different tastes man!!!Personnally"Time to burn"is my fave, but also this one is awesome!!But"III"...uuuhhhmm,some great songs but the rest not at the same level,IMO.BTW Giant rule!!!And on this point we have all agree I think!!!Regards...

From: Geoff Date: February 9, 2005 at 1:54
I agree this is a monster album and tracks like 'I'm a believer', 'I'll see you in my dreams', 'It takes two', 'Hold back the night' and 'Love welcome home' are simply as good as it gets... but I also agree with z4roxx in that I think 'Time to burn' is easily their best CD. More balls, bigger songs and a bigger sound... oh, and overall better songs, IMO. Still, this is a stunning CD with some truly perfect songs. A brilliant band.

From: Erik Date: February 9, 2005 at 4:23
ok Z4roxx we disagree a little bit on this one. But you like Transit as much as i do. And anybody who likes Transit is a friend for life

From: z4roxx Date: February 9, 2005 at 12:16
Yes Erik,we are both great!!ahaha!!Transit will rule forever!!Transit rule as Roko rule in Germany,IMO.Do you like Roko??

From: z4roxx Date: February 9, 2005 at 12:21
I must add one thing:the last guitar solo on"hold back the night"is somethin'amazing and spectacular, what a band Giant!!One of the best...

From: Erik Date: February 10, 2005 at 2:40
Yeah z4roxx from what i heard of Roko it does sound realy good. But i only have a few sons of them

From: Erik Date: February 10, 2005 at 3:03
Oeps make that songs instead of sons

From: z4roxx Date: February 10, 2005 at 12:10
Oh Erik that's a tragedy!!You must get Roko/s.t.,one of the best cd ever heard, believe me!!and the second one"open invitation"is another must, superb!!Get the first 2 Roko cd's,essential as Transit!!!!!!!

From: Erik Date: February 11, 2005 at 2:58
Z4roxx monday and tuesday i will be in Germany and i will try and see if i cant find albums from Roko in some second hand music stores.

From: Geoff Date: February 11, 2005 at 17:56
Hey Erik, based on your likes I suggest you also try to track down the superb 'Bad Child' and 'Waiting for...' CDs by German band Universe. I'm with z4roxx on 'Open Invitation' by Roko, but I'm not the hugest fan of the debut. Very consistent but more leaning towards good AOR as opposed to the melodic hard rock bliss gem that is 'Open Invition'. I suggest you keep an eye our for their third CD too 'Think about tomorrow' - heavier, but superb. Happy hunting!

From: z4roxx Date: February 11, 2005 at 18:08
Agree Geoff,"think about tomorrow"great even if heavier, some riffs very close to thrash sound!ahaha!!Maybe you prefer"open invitation"because is more personal and original in arrangments, the debut has a much easy melodick approach with immediate melodies but...it's a masterpiece,IMO.I prefer the debut but the second one is very close to it indeed...

From: z4roxx Date: February 11, 2005 at 18:25
Good luck Erik!Try to find Jojo/s.t.(1988),if you like pop/aor as you told me,you must have it!!It was the first band of Robert Kohlmeyer(Roko singer).Jojo one of my fave band in Germany indeed!!

From: Erik Date: February 12, 2005 at 5:35
Thanks for the tips Geoff and z4roxx.

From: z4roxx Date: February 19, 2005 at 20:31
After all last discussions,I've heard again this one.Well,it's really a classic in aor, outstanding debut for one of the greatest aor bands.Maybe it contains more"sophisticated"arrangements than"time to burn"that has an easiest melodick approach but this one contains also true aor gems like"Innocent days","It takes two"or"The big pitch".The ballad"I'll see you in my dreams"is simply sensational and full of true and strong emotions while"Hold back the night"is one of the best songs ever heard.

From: Swriter Date: February 20, 2005 at 12:22
when this came out, this was better then anything out, why didn't Hold back the night become a huge hit for the band, too classy maybe, this is a classic, a little stronger then Time to Burn in my book because of the great key sound on this one, Time is harder but still a classic as well!!! 3 is also important to have, so when is the next one being released?

From: VinceK81 Date: September 29, 2005 at 17:38
KILLER!!!!!!! 10 of an album! "I'm a Believer" (although predictable, being that it the first song) is SOOO f.ckin' killer. Huff's vox, the drums, the tiny filler riffs, ALL RULE! RIP IT UP!!!

I'm a believer, Love welcome home, I'll see you in my dreams.. MUY BUENO!

From: lalorock Date: October 8, 2006 at 23:22
Muy buen disco, GIANT la hizo y muy bien I´ll see you in my dreams que gran balada lleno de feeling con esas guitarras crujientes, It takes two otro temazo puro aor, en general un albúm bueno ,pero más me gusta el Time to burn, no se, lo veo más maduro y con más técnica que este, pero este tambien esta muy bueno Love welcome home otra maravillosa canción, album que no puedes perder.

Can't understand why I haven't commented on this album already, this is simply one of the finest albums ever recorded, the only one better is Time To Burn But seriously this is AOR at its finest, if you like this then check out their two other studio albums and bands like Firehouse, Danger Danger, Blue Tears and FM could also be something for you! 80's Hard Rock & AOR FOREVER!

From: BIG-TIME Date: May 2, 2007 at 14:23
Same as 80's WHY! did I not comment on this before, had it for a couple of years now and it still blow's me away every time Dan is the MAN! (get it, never mind) Fantastic song's, voice, playing, it's just AWESOME GO GET IT NOW...KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

i don´t understand the discution about this album and time to burn, to me they are the same. excelente albums made by a guy that knows what he was doing. it took time for him to do something on his own but when he did this is what you get: 2 of the best melodic rock albums made on those years (a pity grunge was knocking on the door those days!!!)a couple of years sooner in this would be mega-albums.

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: November 1, 2007 at 13:25

It does not get much better than this. Mr. Huff is a fantastic guitar player and singer. Both the first and second releases are a must have.

Definitly better than Time To Burn and still TTB has higher avarage rating?? You guys are strange One of the best rocking (and at the same time beautiful) ever!

From: Zoner Date: September 26, 2008 at 18:30
Wonderful album with strong and harmonic melodies! AOR at it's best! But too bad that our Swedes (H.E.A.T) have stolen the chorus from "I'll See You In My Dreams" on Cry. I told them to skip that song but they never listened. Anyway, this album is a must have if you are a music fan. And don't forget to pick up Time To Burn as well.

Good Album, but Time To Burn Is Better.

From: edwithmj Date: January 2, 2010 at 20:03
This album contains sheer perfection in songs like Innocent Days and It Takes Two. They're songs I can listen to again and again. I don't get the U2 references: they sond nothing like them and what's more this is 1000 times better than anything they've produced. A masterpiece.

Absolute AOR masterpiece.simply perfect from start to finish.and contains probably my all time fav power ballad"I 'll see you in my dreams!so many memories!

From: edwithmj Date: February 14, 2015 at 18:28
After five years, this is still an album I keep coming back to. Dann Huff is a brilliant guitarist and maintains melody while playing at incredible speed. The opener is explosive and contains a nice intro solo to warm things up; Innocent Days is a slightly progressive rocker with very catchy vocals and a great chorus; I'll See You... is a very decent ballad and although it borders on mediocrity, it's saved by Huff's passionate vocals and solo. Shake Me Up is another winner with a loud, booming chorus. It Takes Two is probably my favourite, the solo is out of this world and the lyrics I find are very meaningful. Hold Back... is another winner and is probably my second favourite - the outro solo leaves me wanting more. Love Welcome Home is the better of the two ballads and has Huff's passionate vocals - the song rises slowly to a great crescendo I feel. The Big Pitch is a standard rocker to end the disc with. Definitely one of my favourite albums of all time.

A good album that has one of my all time fave mid tempo songs in the shape of "Love Welcome Home",simply beautiful and sensitive...tracks 2,4,5,6,7 & 9 are also good ones all over...88/100

The guitar solo in 'Innocent Days' is very similar to the intro of the song 'When the Love Gas Gone' by Ten.

From: CC Date: November 22, 2017 at 18:24
Well this was released way before even the first Ten album, so if anything the Ten song guitar solo sounds like this.
