This album is absolute gem, it is worth buying just to hear Eye Of The Storm!, great release, bring back the 80's

From: Beck Date: June 8, 2001 at 22:36
If davey boy thinks its great, then i don't even have to hear it. I know it sucks.

From: Zombie Date: October 5, 2001 at 22:36
I have had the vinyl version of this for years and still love it!!! It is pure rock and is deffinatly worth the investment!

From: HG Date: February 16, 2002 at 19:14
One of the best female-fronted bands of all time. The singer sounds like a sleazy Janis Joplin.

From: Tony Date: May 6, 2002 at 14:26
I own this and while it has some great riffs and the singer Sally had the best ass in rock it sounds like they're just lost in the shuffle of the 3 trillion bands signed to record companies at the time that looked and sounded like this. Not saying it's bad by any means but you've heard this before you know what I mean? If you like a sleazy mixture of Guns & Poison fronted by a female voice though check this out as I'm sure you'll love it!!! Some really tasty riffs here.

From: Desslar Date: May 7, 2002 at 1:10
This album rules! I never thought a chick could do sleaze metal so well. Corny lyrics but tons of fun.

From: TIM Date: May 7, 2002 at 9:01
They are great. I'm about to wear my cassette out, I need to break down and buy the cd.

From: TIM Date: May 24, 2002 at 12:09
Has anyone heard their self-titled album?

From: Dave Date: June 18, 2002 at 8:54
I only heard of them through a friend. He taped some Judas Priest for me, and put three Smashed Gladys tracks on the free space on the end of the tape: Lick it into shape, 17 going on crazy and half of play dirty. Love it. I must get him to bring the vinyl next time he visits so I can rip it. Or else I must buy the CD...

From: David Date: August 16, 2002 at 22:19
The singer sounds like a guy.

From: David Date: November 12, 2002 at 6:15
I'm convinced this band has a male singer!, it totally rocks with excellent song writing.

From: Trick Taylor Date: December 18, 2002 at 4:47
In a perfect world Smashed Gladys would be playing the bowling alleys with Firehouse and the likes of Donald Dokken would be partying with members of Blackfish after they all got off work at Sizzler. This is one shit-hot slab of sleeze rok straight from the gutter. Makes Guns and Roses sound like Toto (No Trick, don't make fun of Toto!). If you find this one, even in your best friend's collection, steal it, live it, love it. Bonus points for info on what Sally Cato is up to these days.

From: VINCE Date: December 23, 2002 at 23:10
THE SLEAZIEST ROCK ALBUM YOU WILL EVER HEAR!!A VERY TALENTED BAND AND SALLY CATO IS THE BEST FEMALE VOCALIST YOU WILL EVER HEAR!!AND IF YOU EVER HAD THE CHANCE TO SEE THEM LIVE LIKE I DID....YOU WOULD KNOW SHES ALSO THE SEXIEST,MOST FUCKABLE CREATURE TO EVER HOLD A MICROPHONE!!!BUY THIS IF YOU LIKE SLEAZE!

From: kidchaos Date: May 10, 2003 at 22:25

From: Benn Date: June 20, 2003 at 20:23
The last thing I heard was that Sally Cato was working for a tv station in the Connecticut/New York area. Ryan from Metal Mayhem can probably give you more information! The CD is one of the GREATEST albums ever recorded. Not only could Sally sing, but she was SMOKIN' HOT!

From: David Date: October 19, 2003 at 0:28
I just can't get over how good the song "Eye Of The Storm" is!!

From: rockinmyassoff Date: January 28, 2004 at 12:46
This album rocks! Even though the lead singer is female, the vocals and the music sound a LOT like MCQUEEN STREET. Check it out.

From: rockinmyassoff Date: January 28, 2004 at 12:57
Can't get over how much I like this album! I don't know what the lead singer looks like, but judging by the above comments, I need to get on that...pronto. MCQUEEN STREET fans need to give this one a listen.

From: Dean Date: February 9, 2004 at 1:43
Killer cd(have it on vinyl and tape too) but the McQueen Street comparisions baffle me. I always thought they sounded like a heavier Faster Pussycat. Compared to bands like No Shame or Vixen, Sally Cato's vocals sound down and dirty and mean as hell. "Eye of the Storm" and "17 going on Crazy" were two of the standouts. I remember buying this because the cover was cool. Good thing the music kicked ass.

C'est vrai ça déchirait bien sa race Smashed Gladys.Et un grand merci à Philippe Manoeuvre pour m'avoir fait découvrir un jour sur Canal+ cet excellent groupe, qui aurait mérité une carrière beaucoup plus longue.Snif!

Heard this album in college 10 years ago and have been on the hunt for this ever since. This is one of the best "fun" allbums out there. Gladys rocks.

From: wildhearts2004 Date: August 20, 2004 at 8:55
I saw these guys (and gal) on The Morton Downey, Jr. Show in 1988. Ol’ Mort (RIP) was wearing a Social Intercourse T-Shirt !!!

From: Andii Vamp Date: December 16, 2004 at 1:49
I played the GUTS out of this album back when i was 16. Had both albums since they came out and they still get a regular airing these days. Killer stuff for any sleazyy glamster out there.

From: Azza Date: February 20, 2005 at 17:24
Great album, i'm 16 and totally missed the 80's but oh well...I was in a record shop and noticed it because the cover looked great, so I stuck it on in the shop and I couldn't get enough of it so I brought it - and luckily for me it turned out to be a true gem. Sleaze isn't dead You want proof huh: Check these great bands out, and keep it alive! www.crashdiet.org - www.loudnnasty.com www.gemini5.net www.privatelineweb.com www.rzd.it (Razzle Dazzle) www.hurricane-party.com

Hi, is there anyone that can burn my copies of both of the CD's from this group. I have the LP, but just can't seem to get it cleaned up enough to burn to a CD. If possible, I could also download mp3's. I do have some rare CD's to trade, but not to many.

From: CurtisLoew Date: April 29, 2007 at 2:35
Wounded Bird is reissuing this... due July 17.

From: the rocker Date: May 9, 2007 at 16:00
very good female fronted sleaze-hard rock cd.

From: hair metal again Date: March 7, 2017 at 8:15
excellent hair metal release by a band that really delivers some nasty sleazy sound and songs!somewhere between KISS,RATT &CRUE this one will satisfy all fans with its raw power and attitude!"lick it into shape","dive in the dark" and "cast of nasties" are the highlights and i must add that they were great on stage too as i saw from a you tube clip!really lookin forward catching them live in a few months in the UK

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: September 16, 2024 at 8:13
The novelty with Smashed Gladys is that they have a female singer, who is just as sleazy as any hormone-addled dude, if not more so. Sally Cato favors a raspy screech much of the time, and her actual singing, like on the dreadful ballad "Eye Of The Storm," is not great. The boyz in the band play only as well as they need to, though Bart Lewis's credits hint that he may be playing down to the level of the songs. This is a tough one. Bands like this were not known for irony or self-awareness, yet Smashed Gladys almost seem to be taking the piss, as the British say. Songs like "Lick It Into Shape" and "Legs Up" seem like hair-metal caricatures well before Steel Panther, both in the over-the-top lyrics and in the way Sally delivers them—she almost sounds like she's making fun of the way her male counterparts would sing these songs. Maybe that was the joke, responding to the people who accused metal of sexism by having a chick gleefully singing songs even naughtier than normal. I don't want

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: September 16, 2024 at 8:20
I don't want to give them too much credit though. This is a D-list band with songs that are average at best, getting by on a gimmick.
