How does it sound compared to the first?
|
From: koogles |
Date: August 19, 2002 at 9:32 |
Blue Charvel- this is a much darker record than "Doin' The Nasty".
|
From: JLPRocks |
Date: August 19, 2002 at 10:02 |
Yep..."darker" could describe this record. It had a lot of anger in it from Slik's breakup with EMI...they screwed the band *like so many large labels* and Nicholas Walsh had a few things to say about it!! It's a good record though...slightly heavier...but not in a bad way. Walsh's vox is still kickass!

I managed to snag 5 tunes from the disc. Sounds great, but it is exactly as you said (koogles/JLPRocks), dark. Was that horns I heard on a couple tracks?

i still dig this album although it sounds more darker like you guys mentioned..it has some good songs on it and the only thing i didn't like about the cd is the 3rd grade artwork.. i give this disc 7 and a half on 10. nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

Not a bad album, but not in the same style as the earlier ones. I think they were trying to change with the times in hopes of staying relevant (no pun intended) in the grunge era. Despite the darker themes less flambouyant guitars, Walsh's voice still stands out, making this release a better rock album than anything coming out of Seattle at the time.

I know that Nick's new band "Revolver" is releasing a full length album in February 2005. You can order an advanced copy from thier website www.revolvertv.com. Have a listen, it's still melodic the way Slik was but very raw and edgy with this new band. A definite favorite on my playlist !!!
