Good cd. I saw them open for Kiss on the Hot in the Shade tour. Great live band. Mark has a great voice and Tim Kelly's guitar sang. We'll miss him! This cd was one of the biggest releases in hard rock in 1990. Great for any collection.

After I heard this album, I became a Slaughter fan for life. Some great stuff on here. I'd rather listen to this, than Nirvana's Nevermind at any given time. Pure hard rock and lots of FUN!

I never viewed--& still don't--Slaughter as a sleazy/sleaze glam band. To me they sound more like hard rock w/ a touch of the pop or glam element in their music; I think that they were quite a bit different than your average pop metal band of the early 90's. Mark Slaughter's vocals are definitely unique & are instantly recognisable to any who have heard him. The bottom line: I still think that 'Stick It To Ya' was Slaughter at its best. An all-around fun but unique experience.

Dumb and Dumber 2; starring Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum. Friend of a friend supported these guys on a tour and they were, alledgedly, the most abnoxious bunch of Tossers he had ever met. He took the 'S' off there dressing room door to spell 'Laughter' and they were, apparently, not amused. Brainless music. Little wonder Nivarna sold a few records.

I actually met these guys and they're really nice. It was 110 degrees out that day and my shirt was soaked with sweat but they still signed it. Mark's singing is excellent and I like the way Blas plays the drums. Nirvana couldn't match up to these guys on their best day.

I love this cd its awesome. I met the band and they are very cool people. Who doesnt love Up All Night and all the cool songs on this album. these guys rock pure and simple. He could've gone the less painful route and sang falseto, better yet he should'nt have opened his mouth in the first place. Without doubt this one is Slaughter's best. Released in the climax-days of hair-rock, it already became a classic. Normally a particular sleazy-glam continuation of Vinnie Vincent's 'All Sytems Go' is felt in this album but pure hard-rock elements also take place. Another brilliant aspect here is Tim Kelly's successful play. I'm sure if there was no upcoming grunge assault and the frustration it caused in hard-rock arena, bands such as Slaughter could achieve more successful follow-ups later.

Hey Harvey, to each his own, right? Just because you don´t happen to like this band, there are lots of us who do. About talent - well, I´ve heard a lot, I mean LOT, worse attempts than this. Nothing wrong in their playing, maybe not the most original songwriters but hey - there are a thousand bands like this that never made it to get any wider attention. These guys did, so there must something about it. Although I agree with you - AC/DC is totally a different league.

Never really saw what all the hoop-de-doo was about these guys. They had one or two good songs but that was about it in my book. Mark was NOT a great singer, sorry. Saw them open for Kiss in 1990 and thought they were merely OK, Mark's voice was even more nasal and piercingly annoying live than on record. I finally figured out why they were so popular at the time when the girl I attended the show with leaned over and said to me, 'The drummer's hot, but they can't play.' Mystery solved.

Freddy, I usually agree with your comments, but we're on opposite ends on this one! I can't even count how many times I've seen Slaughter and they put on a great live show, not to mention their music has been pretty consistent over the years - they haven't tried to 'update' their sound. Since this CD came out in 1990 it still gets played on my CD player. Every track is just awesome. Mark Slaughter has a great voice and Slaughter deserved to go much further in their career. Too bad Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc didn't have Slaughter's TALENT!!! What was MTV thinking when it signed that grungy crap, that it was here to stay? Think not! Mark Slaughter has a great voice? Oh well, to each their own, but to me he sounds like a cat being choked. Ok, not that bad, but still a singer who is tough to adjust to and his vocals sometimes ruin the songs (Fly To The Angels), but then on songs like 'Burnin' Bridges' his voice really helps the track. A strong first half and a weak second half. 5/10

Yeah, Mark's got an awful voice, but with commercial hard rock songs like the anthem 'Up all night' and the absolute gems that are, one after another; 'Mad About You','That's Not Enough','You Are the one' (My fave),'Gave Me Your Heart' and 'Desparately', plus the heartfelt ballad, 'Fly to the angels', the crunching 'Eye to eye', the awesome melodic rocker 'Spend my life' and 'Burnin' bridges' - basically you have one killer commercial hard rock CD! Excellent stuff, IMO!

El album combina ese toque hard de la época en temas rockeros fenomenales como "Burnin´ bridges", con temas más melódicos tan buenos como "Spend my life", "Gave me your heart" o "Desperatly". La sentimental "Fly to the angels" es otro de los motivos por los q este Cd debe estar en cualqier coleccion hardrockera americana q se precie. La voz de Mark es muy peculiar te puede gustar mas o menos...pero el resto con esos fantasticos Blas y Dana!!! tanto este como el siguiente recomendados. 7.5/10

Absolute classic in the genre. An old cliche I know, but 'All killer, no filler' comes straight to mind. Anyone of these tracks could have been picked as a single. Mark's voice is one of the best in all of rock!!

At the time, Slaughter was part of the last wave of big hair bands that flooded the gates before grunge. Aside from Mark Slaughter's wailing & screetching, which can be annoying at times, this disc remains memorable mostly due to video overkill by MTV in America. Still, after listening to the cd years later, it becomes apparent that this is ready-made, synthetic corporate hair rock polished to perfection.

Excelente Hard Rock Melódico en onda KISS, SLADE, QUIET RIOT y como no hiba a serlo asi si Dana Strum y Mark Slaughter militaron en la Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Composiciones solidas, espectaculares llenas de gancho por donde quiera y esa voz cristalina de Mark con sus increibles agudos. Destacan: "Burning Bridges" marchosa a morir!; el megahimno "Up All Night"; la bellisima "Spend My Life" muy AOR y uno de los medios tiempos mas hermosos que he escuchado (escuchen la letra, es bellisima)...

la sentida y clasica "Fly To The Angels"; la potente y dinámica "Mad About You" es otro gran tema de Hard Rock, al igual que "That´s Not Enogh For Me" y de ahi en adelante vienen 3 temazos AOR: "You´re The One" la mejor del disco, un bellisimo medio tiempo AOR romantico; "Gave Me Your Heart" mas ritmica pero igual de melódica al igual que "Desperately" llena de gancho y melodía... en fin, un clásico del Hard Rock melódico de finales de los 80s y principios de los 90s!!

There are a few pretty cool songs on here, like "Eye To Eye," "Mad About You" and the best Def Leppard song not actually done by Def Leppard, "Desperately." "Up All Night" is a fun, summertime anthem, although very cheesy. Then there are a lot of mediocre tracks. And then some utter SHIT songs, none of them helped by Mark Slaughter's obnoxious, caterwauling voice. "Fly To The Angels?" Even back then I wasn't sure I liked it all that much. And "She Wants More" and "Loaded Gun" are two of the absolute WORST songs I've ever heard. Sorry, but this one hasn't aged well at all.

Average hard rock with a few gems. Mark Slaughter's voice is absolutely piercing and most of the album is filler but the album is still worth getting for Burning Bridges, Spend My Life, Desperately, You Are The One and You Gave Me Your Life. Fly To The Angels is a terrible ballad that seems to go on and on, Up All Night is too average and She Wants More is dreadful. This is also their best album which says a lot.

a lot of debate here about mark slaughters voice but to me i love it i think he has a really good range although i've never seen them live this is their best album for sure they're not glam just a rock band i like tim kelly's playing nothing technical but a nice sound up all night was overrated not even close to the best song here that's burning bridges but i do like eye to eye,spend my life,fly to the angels,mad about you,that's not enough,gave me your heart and desperatly i think they're a good band but not one of the great bands of the genre

there is no need to say much ,STICK IT TO YA is one of the best releases in the history of hard rock music!hair metal perfection is what you get here and "up all night " is one of the songs of my life!total masterpiece and a clear 100/100

People need to understand that most "Hair Bands" have talent, in this case Slaughter are very talented Musicians! GREAT debut! With songs like Spend My Life, Mad About You, You Are The One, Gave Me Your Heart, Up All Night & my favorite Desperately. I highly recommend!

OK, not necessarily related to this great album, but I just saw these guys at, of all places the Greeley (CO) Stampede. Mark is a bit ragged these days but Strum, Blando and OH MY GOD drummer Zoltan Chaney were tight. Zoltan is off the chart incredible performer and he never missed a beat. Go see them just for him!

A cool debut by Slaughter with plenty of catchy songs in it but with an issue...they sounded way to Motley Crue in some parts(which ain't bad but a band has to find its personality)...anyway "Eye To Eye" is my fave cut in here...tracks 2,6,7,8,10(AORish),11(AORish) & 12 are also in my book(i own this on vinyl so i don't have the 3 additional cuts)...88/100

You're missing nothing with the bonus tracks, Rick. The "acoustic" version of "Fly To The Angels" is just the studio version with all but one acoustic guitar and Mark's lead vocals stripped out, probably aimed at top-40 radio who maybe were hesitant to play the album mix. 'Wingin' It' is just a throwaway track, like a page off someone's musical doodle pad.

84/100 overall seems pretty respectable to me. In American schools, that's a B. Some people will spend their review saying how an album isn't very good and still give it an 84. Full disclosure; I personally gave Stick It To Ya 66/100, which I think is fair given that I find a quarter of the songs all but unlistenable, and another few mediocre at best.

No problem to accept even 1 if it isn't a general standpoint to a particular band, style etc. But I would like to say that the range from 1 to 100 is wide enough to express that I don't like something or on the other hand an album is good. Personally, I gave 85/100 and in my country this is also "B".

Of course, the letter-grade analogy isn't perfect either, because the 66 I gave this CD is a failing grade in school, when in fact I think iit's better than an F (I'd give it a C). Plenty of wiggle rooom in that hundred-point range, especially at the low end (is a 30 really three times better than a 10?) I think a lot of people just slap on an arbirtray number that seems about right. The real story is in the actual comments.

While Vinnie Vincent Invasion had some killer songs, and no less than three nice ballads on the 1988 disc All Systems Go, that band lacked the swagger and bluesy guitar style of the great Tim Kelly (RIP). Stick it to ya has many really good songs, a few fillers do not hurt the overall result really, so I give it 95. A very nice sound with Dana's full and rich bass sound that helps drive the songs. Drummer Blas Elias was added as a member before the release in '90, but all the drum tracks on this album were programmed in '89 by Chris Ryan at KAT Electronic drums (so Blas is not on this album at all). Of course he still is a stellar drummer. Tim was truly a great guitar player, played for the songs, improved the songs with great riffs and tasty solos and a warm bluesy feel that many of us love. 4 great singles/videos were released. Btw, Laurie Ann Carr, who was married at the time to Ratt's tall & handsome Robbin Crosby (also RIP), was featured as the model on Stick It To Ya's album cove

Totally average for me,have heard this one 2 times and will never listen to it again.so boring,i will never understand why this one was such a big success in america,double platium LOL
