Voted as one of my best albums of the eighties decade for pure AOR/melodic rock!

From: msosam66@hotmai Date: January 3, 2002 at 14:52
I agree with George, one of my best albums of the eighties. I like it more than Boston's albums.

From: Richard H. Date: May 13, 2002 at 16:37
Man the first time I heard this I thought it was Boston.Fran Cosmo and Brad Delp must be twins.Great AOR

From: MelodicRocker Date: May 19, 2002 at 18:30
Screaming Guitarrs! I LOVE it! This is what aor is all about! if you like "strangeways" then this is for you!!

From: ThunderDan Date: July 6, 2002 at 15:17
Great album! You can't go wrong w/ a voice like that. Having Brad Delp help out doesn't diminish anything either. Two unbelievable voices on one CD. Heaven on CD!!

From: JOURNEY Date: July 8, 2002 at 14:08
WOW!!!!! SUPERALBUM WITH GREAT MUSICIANS!!! O.K. And better than Boston's albums.

From: koogles Date: July 8, 2002 at 18:53
ThunderDan: since when did heaven on CD include cheesy synthetic drum sounds? This isn't a bad CD but, like the 80s sounding electronic drums on Lionheart's "Hot Tonight", they're a real spoiler. If you like this CD, I'd recommend Lionheart's "Hot Tonight"... same approach with even better results, IMO.

From: MALLORCA´S ROCK Date: August 22, 2002 at 17:56
NO ES MEJOR QUE BOSTON PERO ES MUY BUENO. LE FALLAN DOS CANCIONES, POR CIERTO UNA DE ELLAS LAMENTABLE. UN 8/10

From: XAVVVI Date: September 5, 2002 at 5:40

From: B. CASARIN -MEX Date: September 5, 2002 at 23:24

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 19, 2002 at 2:45
Mostly I agree if people talk about classics. But this isn't one. One of the most overrated AOR albums of the eighties !!! Not half as good as the Boston records. Why ? I sounds all the same ! If you want to hear real classic AOR go for Signal, Drive She Said, i-Ten, Van Stephenson, Shadow King, Foreigner, Boulevard etc. Look at the reviews !!! But this isn't it, not that it is that bad, that would be a lie, but it is average !

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: September 19, 2002 at 15:41

From: ROB GARCIA Date: January 19, 2003 at 15:49
very similar to boston in style but with a fresher sound.the best album boston never did.

From: George Date: March 14, 2003 at 16:04
Wasn't Bruce Smith from Leominster, MA? I heard this is a GREAT album, going to pick up at my local used CD shop, Newburry Comics!

From: HEAVY VOICE Date: April 10, 2003 at 7:56
This is a unique rock with a progressive style band, excellent musicians, powerful voice, no doubt one of my favorite album in "all those years", any comments jugalde8@hotmail.com

From: DANELL Date: April 10, 2003 at 7:59
IF YOU CAN GET THIS ALBUM YOU WILL LISTEN TO ONE OF THE BEST BANDS THAT EVER BEEN IN THIS WORLD...ONLY ONE ALBUM, ONLY ONE ORION THE HUNTER. I CAN´T SAY THAT THEY BETTER THAN BOSTON,THOSE ARE GOOD, BUT ORION IS UNIQUE !

From: Desslar Date: April 15, 2003 at 6:33
Disappointing. None of the driving guitar sound of Boston. Even RTZ rocks harder.

Better then Boston. Hmm. This is a great pomp AOR record but not betten then the two first with Boston.

From: ronjh2k Date: May 24, 2003 at 20:09
One of the interesting things about this release (as with the Barry Goudreau solo album, where you can hear what I believe were Fran Cosmos' first "lessons" as lead vocalist from Brad Delp...a little rough, but very promising) was that it offered a new lead vocalist that often reminds me of Micky Thomas of Starship. Although it's not "Boston" it's very listenable and I've enjoyed doing many covers from that release. Listen to So You Ran and I Call It Love...GREAT ROCKIN! A Classic? YES!!!!!

From: fasteddie Date: June 3, 2003 at 19:46
Super-saturated guitars with Tom Scholtz' powersoaked sound. Good song writing, good melodies & harmonies, good,hard-driving songs. Overall, one GREAT CD! 10/10

Clasico Instantaneo, Now Buy It!!

From: rppper Date: July 13, 2003 at 22:24
i have always loved boston, and around the time that orion the hunter was released, i was a DJ at a small AOR(god do i miss the pre-clearchannel days)station in texas. the press releases for third stage were just starting...bostons third album that had been in the can for 6 years...the morning DJ came in with a tape of "new boston songs" to play...i was blown away...OTH was what boston should have sounded like in 1984...great album....

From: andy54@front.ru Date: July 24, 2003 at 23:21
This album was popular in Russia in 1984 !!! It's my favourite AOR record. How can to buy it poor russian AOR -fan ?

From: Magnus Date: September 7, 2003 at 7:53
One of the classics you can't live without..

Orion the hunter is the best AOR album. i listen to it once a day the best song = so you ran

From: DAVID IPARRAGUI Date: March 2, 2004 at 15:42
UN DISCO NETAMENTE AOR, MUY RECOMENDADO PARA QUIENES GUSTAN DE ESTE GENERO, IMPECABLE SONIDO Y MUY BUENA PERFORMANCE VOCAL DE FRAN COSMO. RECOMIENDO LA CANCION "SO YOU RAN", ES BUENISIMA.

From: BCASARIN(MEX) Date: May 22, 2004 at 20:37
A DISFRUTARLO!!!

From: Rockhead Date: May 24, 2004 at 10:55
Played this again the other day-like a bowl of Corn Flakes-You forget how good it is. Classic Boston tinged melodic rock/ AOR of the highest order!! Highlights "So You Ran", "Dreamin" and "Dark and Stormy" but overall the entire CD is awesome.

From: Rycheage Date: July 18, 2004 at 17:00
This is some classic stuff. I wouldn't put it against either of Boston's first 2, but excellent on its own merit. "So You Ran" is a slice of AOR perfection. The rest is a bit below but excellent nonetheless. "Dreamin'" and "Dark And Stormy" highlight the rest. Smooth AOR at its best.

From: Bass God Date: July 27, 2004 at 9:47
Plain & simple, GREAT songwriting crystal clear mix, an absolute classic of 80's AOR that will unfortunetly never be repeated.

From: Wotty Date: August 17, 2004 at 19:41
Storming 80s classic.Brilliant.

From: MikeL Date: September 1, 2004 at 23:09
Some real good songs on this like So You Ran and Fast Talk but this CD is a little average elsewhere. Get it for a decent price but don't pay alot for it.

From: AOR_Crazy Date: September 7, 2004 at 10:57
I don't know why do you compare it with Boston? Boston is Boston and this is Orion, difference is that Boston had a bit rockier albums, this is in my oppinion far more melodic than Boston even if i'm a Boston fan!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 1, 2004 at 23:34
BUEN ALBUM DE AOR, NO HARD ROCK COMO PONEN, UN AOR DE ESA EPOCA YA SABES I-TEN, BALANCE Y GRUPOS SIMILARES EL TEMA So You Ran SIN DUDA LA JOYA DEL ALBUM, RECOMENDADO PARA AMANTES DEL AOR DE ESA EPOCA Y GRUPOS COMO LOS MENCIONADOS, PERO SEGUN MI GUSTO PERSONAL EL MEJOR AOR SALIO EN LA SEGUNDA MITAD DE LOS 80. SALUDOS AMANTES DE LA BUENA MUSICA.

From: MIKE F. Date: November 15, 2004 at 17:42
I'M STILL PUZZLED AS TO WHY THIS GROUP WAS NOT HUGE? TOO BAD THEY KICKED ASS.

From: Dave Date: November 18, 2004 at 3:14
Mike F, you are not the only one who asks that question !!! This is such an over looked album and still to this day "So You Ran" is still one of my all time favourite songs. For those who don't have it , track it down and you too , will ask the same question !!!

Another one of those Classic mid 80's discs (Balance, Arcangel, Aldo Nova, Bon-Jovi's debut etc). This really is the perfect AOR disc and one that stands proudly next to the ones named above. I would go as far as to say i prefer this over most of Boston's stuff (except the debut of course).

From: tokioblade Date: January 21, 2005 at 1:26
ALBUN DE GRAN FACTURA,CON MIENBROS DE BOSTON,POR SUPUESTO ES AOR Y NO HARD ROCK.MUY RECOMENDADO.YN SALUDO TOKIOBLADE@HOTMAIL.COM

From: Nick C Date: March 10, 2005 at 17:06
This is a pretty fine release. Maybe if Fran and Barry had more say over Bostons sound the band wouldn't have desecnded into mediocrity. There are some amazingly powerful tracks on this like Dark and Stormy with it's kind of mesmeric feel and the fantastic Fast Talk. Dreaming is a killer and there's very little to moan about on this release (apart from the mega annoying bass twang that runs through So You Ran...which is still a top notch song!). Solid AOR with a hidden punch.

From: z4roxx Date: March 30, 2005 at 8:45
Excellent typical middle'80 aor.Good musicianship and solid songs but,any killer track IMO.All the cd is very good but it doesn't contain a real killer song.BTW is a good cd,8/10.

From: masmusic Date: March 30, 2005 at 9:31
GREAT!!!

From: hekkktor Date: September 13, 2005 at 14:49
When I listened to the full album for the first time I was amazed by tracks like Dreamin' and Stand Up which are true and excellent 80's AOR classics, but what is really disappointing here is that crappy drumming throughout the album, boring and basic as hell, you just can't help to get the feeling that songs want to fly high but that shit drum work holds them down to the ground and yet these songs manage to sound great !

From: Geoff Date: September 19, 2005 at 20:37
I have high respect for Koogles' opinion and musical knowledge but am a little surprised here. I played this back to back with King Kobra's 'Thrill' and the first thing I noticed was the much better drum sound on this disc after the pissy KK effort. I don't think this is excellent, but I like every song except 'Stand up' and 'Fast talk'. Good consistent melodic rock and with a much better and "ballsier" sound than a lot of recent "AOR Classics" I've been hearing, even KK's 'Thrill'. Good disc.

From: z4roxx Date: September 25, 2005 at 10:33
I can add that this cd is good, well played, with some great song indeed but there are many other band of that period that I prefer,BTW is a very good band.

From: ladywolf Date: February 1, 2006 at 16:41
when I first listened to the song "So you ran" on the radio I was totally blown away... I thought I was hearing of BOSTON... I called at the radio station only to find out that this band is called ORION THE HUNTER... my second thought was to come here and find out more... so I did... I intend to find and listen to the rest of the cd ASAP, cause I'm sure it rocks big time. RESPECT!!!

From: ROBERT Date: February 1, 2006 at 21:04

From: PAUL Date: February 10, 2006 at 13:28
Another forgotten AOR pearl from the 80's. Better than BOSTON or not i love it and in particular a lot!

From: juan carlos Date: May 31, 2006 at 0:29
"joan" es mi tema favorito asi como "so you ran" "dark and stormy" y "too much in love".

From: DANTE Date: July 5, 2006 at 12:54
SUPER DISCAZO DE LOS 80´S. FRAN COSMO TIENE UNA VOZ IMPRESIONANTE. Y DE BARRY GOUDREAU, QUÉ DECIR: SOBERBIA SU PARTICIPACIÓN CON EL MAGO TOM SCHOLZ EN EL PRIMERO DE BOSTON. ESTE ES UN DISCO DELICIOSO DE PRINCIPIO A FIN, CON PASAJES ESTRATOSFÉRICOS. STAND UP ES IMPRESIONANTE. UN DISCAZO DE AOR DE LOS MEJORES 80, SIN DUDA.

From: aorteto Date: October 22, 2006 at 15:30

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: June 28, 2007 at 20:20
AWESOME AOR ALBUM!! A destacar: "So You Ran"(Joya!); "Joanne" (Bellisima) y "Dark And Stormy. CLASICO

From: lalorock Date: September 26, 2007 at 0:03

From: Photochromic Steve Date: November 24, 2008 at 17:46
For all of the Boston-related albums (RTZ, Orion the Hunter, Barry Goudreau, and the later Boston albums) - if Brad Delp was available, then no-one else should have been allowed near the microphone! There are a few decent songs here and a few misses - those dodgy drums don;t do it any favours. Fran Cosmo's voice sounds rather strained on a few of them.

From: DEEMON Date: January 15, 2009 at 23:42
fantastic.i love this album.a primeira vez que ouvi esse disco foi numa antiga coletãnea brasileira de bandas hard rock.esse disco é altamente recomendável para fãs de TOUCH,DIVING FOR PEARLS,VAN STEPHENSON.100/100.(DEEMON FROM BRAZIL)

From: onemorecast Date: September 8, 2010 at 1:48
I just watched the video for So You Ran on youtube. I had completely forgot about this band.

From: happy2849 Date: December 5, 2010 at 11:51
It amazes me that just because a few members from one band (Boston) play on another album some collectors expect to to sound like the the other band. I don't want it to. If they all sounded alike there would not be any reason to collect music. This is a fine release with some great vocals and melodies. Another I pull out quite often.

From: Animal! Date: January 22, 2011 at 1:57
Very much a sleeper, this one will take you by surprise and should impress.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: October 28, 2011 at 22:36
Classic AOR stuff...delightful for our ears...Fran Cosmo & Bob Delp both from the band Boston were in here(Fran as the lead vocalist and Brad(R.I.P)doing some backing vocals and composition)...faves o' mine are "So You Ran","Dreamin'","Fast Talk","Too Much In Love"(catchy) & "Joanne"(nice softy with a nice chorus)...eveything has been said above anyway,so...GET IT!!!.90/100

From: Auslander Date: April 9, 2021 at 3:20
The best Boston album not released under the Boston moniker. That's about the best description I can make of this little beauty. Has had a high quality re-release so you should be able to track down the cd ok. It is worth it for just the track "So You Ran" alone. Graded B+.

From: Planet Y Date: January 18, 2023 at 9:30
The most 1984-album of 1984.

From: Auslander Date: January 18, 2023 at 13:02
Surely, Planet Y, the most 1984 album is 1984 by Van Halen.

From: Planet Y Date: January 18, 2023 at 13:24
It normally would have been, but it doesn't have the very authentic laserwhip-soundeffects that Orion The Hunter uses
