Time to update the MTM 'Vinyl' re-issue with this superior Retrospect version, recorded from original masters. Also included is the unreleased on CD 2nd release 'Phonogenic' which is a belting album in it's own right - slightly more Hi-tech than the AOR/POMP of the debut, but still featuring some great tracks throughout. Don't know which I prefer of the 2 albums, as I would recommend both for different reasons, but both are here for your enjoyment in one excellent package. |

While plenty has been said about the 1st album, Phonogenic (tracks 11 - 19) is usually passed over, time to redress the balance a little. At times the sound/production on Phonogenic bears a slight resemblance to Go West(!)even shades of ABC(!!)can be found on Savoir Faire. The haunting Ceylon Ceylon has a dreamy feel and is a personal fave, in fact the whole of P'genic has an odd spacey feel not found on the also great debut. You should really sell your gran for a copy of this edition....sweet! |

This package is impressive: RPM's first and second (unreleased) album in a far superior quality than the one MTM did, new liner notes by Mark Gendel (two pages) and, of course, all lyrics. The fist disc misses the bonus tracks (don't bother, it still has the corny 'Video Games'). The second was prod. in Trevor Horn's studio so you can imagine the big synth sound (quite ABC and FGTH like). Different approach though same personnel, great still. Get it while you can!! |

WHAT A GREAT S/T DEBUT WITH 10 SONGS. THE OTHER 9 ARE FROM THEIR 2ND RELEASE. A BAND THAT SHOULD HAVE HAD AT LEAST 5 SONGS AIRED. THEIR MASTERPIECE SONGS ARE 2+2,FIRESTARTER,ENVY,A LEGEND NEVER DIES AND I,M A WRECK. I BOUGHT THIS ALBUM IN HIGH SCHOOL AND IT BLEW ME AWAY. GREAT SINGER. GREAT CLASSIC MELODIC ROCK WITH THE 2ND ONE NOT THE SAME ALTHOUGH THEY STILL SHOWED THEIR MUSICAL TALENT. COMPARE TO VANZANT AND FRANKE&THE KNOCKOUTS. |
