Girls Girls Girls is the best video ever. I'll never get sick of seeing it. This cd rocked from beginning to end. You're all I Need is an awesome song, but the video is even better. Nikki Sixx is probably one of the best song writers ever. Totally a 10

In my days as a schoolboy "Girls Girls Girls" was the first Motley Crue song I heard and after hearing I remember I had rushed into the music-stores to hold all of their albums. And so this became the first sleazy'n'nasty record I had. Yeah, this animal-album is the anthem of those sleazzzzy late 80s. If you don't have you miss a lot...

Motley Crue is the living proof that you don't have to sacrifice your sound to commercialism. They've kept there bone-crunching heavy guitare sound and never gone poppy like Ratt,Poison,Quiet Riot or even W.A.S.P. The sound of Girls... is even heavier than that of Manowars Fighting the world. You just sometimes wonder were Mick Mars gets that cutting sound from.

Rising power - come on, Fighting the World is one of the lightest songs of Manowar. Mötley Crüe could never match the sound of Manowar at it´s heaviest. Take songs like "Wheels of Fire", "Hail and Kill" or "Sign of the Hammer" for example, and you see what I mean. Anyway, there´s no need to compare. I think Mötley Crüe is a better band than Manowar in general, and this is a major album! Really, really great.

Great album, not the best but great. The songs' highlight on this one are the first 2 songs WILD SIDE and GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS. I like the ballad too YOU'RE ALL I NEED. Is that a ballad? Because the lyrics are about a man who kills a girl so she stays with him forever. Very sick in my opinion. But the rythm is cool. And the video for GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS, what a video! COOL! I love women dancing half naked. No, make it women dancing TOTALLY NAKED... WOOOOOHOOOOO YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!! Bring back the 80s!!

I simply don't agree with the majority here. I loved the first two albums and Theater of pain was just decent. I remember the hype that the Crue were going back to their old style and they ditched the Theater outfits. I bought this the day it came out and could not believe just how lame and dull it was. There's nothing there, no edge. This album came out and the jocks thought Motley Crue was cool. The same people that hated Shout at the devil thought album was great and were wearing Motley Crue

I think this is my favorite one, although that changes from time to time (right now, it's my favorite!) No edge you say?? More edge than this you wont find with the Crüe, this truly rocks the crap out of everything!! (btw i shout is great and this one is great, so you can flush your last statement thru the toilet)

AND THE PSYCHO BALLAD YOU'RE ALL I NEED. RODEO(BETTER THAN HOME SWEET HOME) IS ALSO A MASTERPIECE WITH BOMBASTIC DRUM AND BASS AND GREAT GUITAR RIFF. Big Papa K,girls-poor album? this album is quadruple platinum and is not only one of the best selling metal album but also 'normal' album in the 80's.Its the first metal album to shot straight to the chart upon release. The last metal album to do that was,let me see, yes, ithink thatwas led zeppelin 2.correct me if i'm wrong which is not very surprising. seeing many of your comments on heavy harmonies, i can say your knowledge on many of the album is abundent and impressive.

Jack, please do not use the sales figure arguement. By that account, then Britney Spears and Linkin Park are the best bands in the world and groups like Pink Cream 69 and Harem Scarem are terrible because they are not on the top 100 charts. As for metal albums being number one before this, Quiet Riot "Metal Health" was #1 in 83 or 84 and Van Halen was number one a couple times as well.
|
From: jack |
Date: July 21, 2004 at 5:09 |
Big Papa K,metal health and van halen 1 did manage to chart at no.1 but it took some time to get there after theyare release while girls like LZ 2 shot straught through the chart relentlessly upon release. But i do agree with u that sales does not really signify the quality of the album. But pink cream and that harlem band is still terrible but this album still rocks!

A Punk Rock Junkie(Sixx), a blues man(Mars), a rythmic monster(Lee) and an instict singer allied to produce an album that uses individually all elements. Evolution for the band that brings them to the elite. Mick Mars makes a statement for the first time in a motley record creating rythmically driven riffs with a touch of his blues roots especially in the title track. What makes Mars playing special is his perfect lock with Lee's drumming leading to an interesting syncopation in each song.

Other than "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Wild Side" this is indeed pretty lame, generic hard rock. Definitely NOT what we've come to expect from Crue. Lame stuff that just goes nowhere. The two songs I mentioned can be gotten on any of the Hits packages so let this die a slow death.

Creo que se equivocan, indiscutiblemente este es uno de los mejores discos de Mötley, simplemente lo resumo disiendo: All in the name of... Pero la verdad me duele ver a la banda que hiso de mi adolecencia un lujo combertida en la mierda nu metal que es actualmente simplemente finjo que no volvieron a sacar discos despues de Decade

Horrible!!! The most overrated album in the Crue catalog!! Tommy Lee's drums sound like crap, and the songs are very cliched....stick with the first three cds for better Crue!!

Well, this proves that even though totally wasted on drugs, they were able to make one hell of a masterpiece! So brilliant musicians, and Nikke composing some of his greatest tunes ever. 10/10

loudashell05: WTF are you talking about? Tommy performs the greates creative drumming on this one. This is probably the album where Tommy Lee proves to be one of the top 3 drummers in the world, of all time! Maybe you're just pissed because it's so dificult to replicate? Mmm?

Motley will always be one of my favorite bands. This cd has some good songs but nothing as cool as the first three. They sound tired and it was clear that the excess was taking its toll on the songwriting. Still some great songs but for me a 7/10.

GGG is the first album I've ever bough myself (with my own money) when I Was 14. I soon became a HUGE Motley fan, and still i am. Now years later I recognize that although "Wild Side" (killer riff!!)and the title track are superb rock classics, the rest of the songs aren't as brilliant as the first two his album is not as consistent overall as "Shout..." or "Dr Feelgood".

Oh God, this CD will make a new Crue listener cream his pants! NO BAD SONGS ON THIS ONE! How strange for the Crue. NOT! 1. Wild Side- 11/10. Kicks ass, end of story. 2. Girls Girls Girls- 10/10. Kicks ass. This is such a huge anthem in rock n' roll history it gives me goosebumps! 3. Dancing On Glass- 10/10. Should've been a bigger hit, it's just as good as Wild Side. 4. Bad Boy Boogie- 9/10. Nice groovy song. Nice little story in the lyrics lol. Vince sounds badass in this song! 5. Nona- 10/10. Don't know why I'm giving it a 10, nothing truly spectacular about it except that Sixx wrote it for his recently deceased grandmother. Nice little fun fact for you! 6. Five Years Dead- 10/10. Cool song, really liked it. Good chord structure! 7. All In The Name Of- 11/10. I REALLY like this song. Brings out the sleaze in the Crue! "I say, legal never did my thing!" 8. Somethin' For Nothin'- 10/10. Just a great song! 9. You're All I Need- 10/10. Kinda creepy song if you listen to it...

CONTINUED Jailhouse Rock (Live)- 9/10. Very random, and, IMO, unnecessary addition to the album. "You're All I Need" would have been a great note on which to end this CD, but hey, you can't go wrong with Elvis! Actually, I don't really like Elvis, but this song's pretty good. Still... OK, on the remastered CD... There are instrumental versions of the big dicks: Girls Girls Girls, Wild Side, and Nona (not a big dick); a LIVE version of All In The Name Of; and an unreleased track mentioned earlier called Rodeo. I won't rate the instrumental tracks. All In The Name Of LIVE- 10/10. JUST AS GOOD LIVE. Rodeo- 11/10. This song was originally on the album for a while, but in the end, they decided to take it off. I DON'T KNOW WHY!! THIS SONG IS INCREDIBLE!!! A power ballad which you CANNOT GO WRONG WITH. Girls Girls Girls album- 10/10. The Crue's best so far, great variety of songs, varying lyrical themes. It was in this album that I discovered what an amazing songwriter Sixx is.BUY!

This motley crew of hair metal hellraisers were really clicking on this album and the result was an undisputed hard rock classic. This is the '80s, through & through, drenched in debauchery and packed with a hodgepodge of hooks. If you're craving a CD that reeks oh so sweetly of girls, guitars, and sweat-soaked leather, then this one will hit you right in the sweet spot.

An outstanding release by Motley Crue. You're All I Need is a surprising ballad and a very good one too while rockers such as Girls Girls Girls, Dancing On Glass and Five Years Dead make this a winner.

This is a decent album and that's it IMHO...maybe for some people this might be a classic or whatever but being objective the songs are quite standart ones..."Wild Side","Girls Girls Girls" & the nice "You're All I Need" are by far the best cuts...tracks 7,8 & 10(is it a cover?)are ok ones if i have to say something else...84/100

An uneven album by the band's own admission. Nikki was more interested in ingesting heroin through any and every hole available than in writing a full album's worth of quality songs. I actually like the SOUND of the album: Tommy's drums pound right into your head, Vince is at his nastiest, and mick's guitars have a cool, grinding tone. "Wild Side" is probably my favorite Crue song from any album, and the sound effects on the fadeout really accent the nightmare world being described. Other good ones are the (overplayed) title track, "Dancin' On Glass," "Five Years Dead" "All In The Name Of Rock" and the deceptively sweet "You're All I Need," disguising murderous lyrics. Trouble is, they (Nikki) only wrote eight songs, so they padded it with the throwaway "Nona" and a live Elvis cover, performed so badly (especially by Vince) that it's barely recognizable.

Another more of-the-same-boring album by Motley Crue. I can't get into the songs. I don't like the the vocals either, although in "You're All I Need" he sounds nice. Only a few songs are worth listening, the rest is pure garbage as their other albuns are.

Zzzzz....I'm quite bored with this album by sounding too much MTV-ish. Just that it seems to sound too cheap hard rock but lol this is a thing with radio and MTV forcing them to change styles from their predecessors "Too Fast for Love" and "Shout at the devil". So yeah don't buy this album if you hate MTV.

I commented before on Mick's distinctive guitar tone on this album, and I just recently read an interview with John 5, who tells us that Mick actually used a Telecaster on much of the record. Of course, John is synonymous with the Tele in heavy music, so he might have a vested interest in saying so, but just listening, I wonder if he might be right. The other thing that's standing out to me is the nihilistic outlook of the album. Only Appetite For Destruction has it beat for sheer dead-eyed amorality, with scarcely a wink or a nudge in sight to let you know this is an exaggerated fantasy world. Only the title track maintains an honest good-time vibe with a relatively low probability of getting you killed. And that's saying something when a song about strippers comes off comparatively wholesome. The rest is just ass-deep in the gutter. "Wildside" is my favorite Crue song of all time and, when paired with "Welcome To The Jungle" pretty much tells the tale.
