It's an absolute disgrace that this album did bomb. I agree with Tom, this is by far the best Crue album, so ignore the reviews and grab a copy ... trust me !

No way. The album tanked because it was ...... not the crue of old but a 90's something

The Crue trying to jump the Alternative bandwagon. Why oh Why did some of the 80's hard rockers try to sell out? People know and love you for yourselves. Look at Aerosmith and AC/DC, they don't change for nobody and they are still big sellers. Not big sell-outs. It was a wise move on Motley Crue's behalf to return to their signature sound on their new cd, New Tattoo. I think that was their best cd of the last 10 years. This cd (other than Shout97) is just another pop coaster on my end table!!!

Doesn't sound the same as the older stuff but I still like this album its a very good offering from Crue don't let any sell out tag put you off it still rocks.

Just REEKS of trying too hard. I love that Tommy Lee states the reason this album bombed is hard rock fans aren't open-minded. Ok bro, I guess sub-par songs has nothing to do with it huh? If you want to check out something better check out Sixx's "58" project. Now that's a great cd worthy of a 10. Vince just sounds ssooo out of place and uncomfortable on these songs.

Terrible album! So not Motley! Sixx fails miserably trying to be another Trent Reznor. I love this band, but this is definately their weakest album. The Corabi CD is more Motley than this clunker!

Hey ThunderDan, if you want to hear something that'll make this cd sound very good, try to listen to Nikki Sixx's band "58". Now that was a complete sellout. Some of the tunes on this cd are ok, but not at all great. Afraid, Beauty, and Shout 97 weren't that bad. The rest of the cd, I just skip

I really can´t understand you, guys. MC94 isn´t good enough cause Vince isn´t there, but this album is more alternative than any other stuff the band did. If you ask me, I prefer MC94 than Generation Swine. cause it´s so much better.

I hated every song on this piece of shit. I can't believe Crue put out an album that sucked so bad. Well, after the Corabi incident- maybe not. I have the same question T-Bone has. I used this and the Swine Sampler I got with it for target practice.

I'm agree with you, guys...this cd is so un-Motley...I save "Find myself", the titletrack and I like the industrial version of "Shout at the Devil"....the rest of the album has nothing to do with Motley Crue...they always changed but this time they changed...ehm, wrong. If you read "The Dirt" you'll know how Mick hate this cd...

Well... The Crue always tried to make each album a little different from the last. In this case they made it a little too different. When Vince rejoined, people wanted to hear the classic sound, but instead they recorded these songs which were written during the Corabi period. They would have been better off scrapping these songs and writing new ones when Vince returned.

I was a doubter, but no more. Seldomly do you here such a fresh and original record as this, and more seldomly do you go away with your ears bleeding as much as this record can do. It's heavy, it's metal, it's bad, and it is s brilliantly produced and executed album. It sounds fresh, it sounds huge, and every band member contributes to it. What a great vibe...I love it!

I think this cd is a good one. It is completely different from the other Mötley cds, but I think it is good for a band if you sometimes experiment with different styles. It improves your playing. If you look at this cd without looking at the rest it isn't bad. Not as good as the others, but i think it doesn't deserve so much negative reactions.

Not to be negative, but when I have to be honest I'll be honest. This is (and sorry to say this) the worst of their albums. I was amazed when I found out that Vince was back with the band after a solo career. But this disapointed me. Not typical MOTLEY CRUE album.

A regravação de "Shout At The Devil" está asquerosa!Ainda bem que eles tomaram vergonha na cara e gravaram o "New Tattoo"!

Vince Neil is back in the band....that's about all that's happenin' with this godawful album...If you're a fan bypass this one. If you're hardcore, you'll listen to it after you get really really really really sick of everything else and you need a 'fix' of some new Crue.

In comparison this jumping on the bandwagon piece of crap makes the album with Corabi sound like Sgt Pepper's. Vince has the vocal range of a tonsilectomy patient.

From: John |

Way out there for Motley. It would have been better if Corabi had sang most of these songs as they were originally written for him before Elektra insisted on Vince back into the band in late '96. Some of the songs are pretty good, if you can get used to Motley sounding industrial. But the best song is "Wreck Me", which you can only get on the 2001 re-release.

Great to see back for this album. Its not that john is any worse. Ithink he did a good job in the motley crue album but vince is the heart and core of this band just like axl,tom keifer, john bon jovi is to gun'n'roses, cinderella and bon jovi. This album is not your typical crue style but what more can you ask from them? ithink they already give it their all and any crue fans would appreciate that. Haven't they done enough for us and the fans during the 80's.CRue forever

THIS SUCKS and reaks of Label interference. Had Electra not wanted Vince back-Vince would not have back. Who wants a fat, drunk tuneless baffoon warbling like his nuts are caught in a blender. Back in the day when Vince was young and hungry and slim, he was a great frontman. On this sorry excuse for a record he is just plain awful. These songs were written for Corabi who was once again shafted. I love early Crue but this......oh dear oh dear!!

From: jack |

Don't know why vince have change(voice, etc)in this album?he just isn't his old self-like a tom keifer or don dokken transform to a kurt cobain or guy sebastian(uughh!) or something. Do anyone know why?Rockhead-helppp!!
|
From: Rockhead |
Date: June 10, 2004 at 8:43 |
The reason Vince changed is because his voice is shot!!. He is now soooo fat and stoned, he simply cannot sing (!?!)like he used too. Crue experimented on the MC album. This album was supposed to feature John Corabi but did'nt due to record company pressure. The songs were therefore not written with Vince in mind.

Thanks for the info, man. Now i know why this album is one of the worst out of all the album produce by the crue. Maybe its not really that great to see vince back for this album. but at least its not kurt cobain as lead singer in this album!

Another great album, even though it was very critically panned and a lot of fans hated it. This album is a grower, even though Neil's voice does not work on all of the songs. Could have done without their worst ever song "Brandon". 9/10

This is not the Motley I want! Where is Mick Mars's wowwwwwwwwwwaaaaah tremolo chops? This is a 100% Nikki Sixx album and I think there is no sobriety on his behalf! Indifferent songs to me, but I really like 'afraid'. But 1 out of 13 is really a bad score.

This album is far from great. There are only a few decent songs on here. The major are crap. The last song Brandon is halarious. Die hard Crue fans will dig this, casual fans simply will probably not like it at all.

Yet another one I spent my money on before I heard it. It took all of about 5 minutes before this one was promptly being heaved out the window before the gawdawful putrid stench seeped into my stereo. This was the epitome of jumping on the band wagon. No wonder these clowns can't garner any respect.

HORRIBLE ALBUM, I KNOW "MOTLEY CRUE" DIDN'T HAVE VINCE, BUT IT WAS AT LEAST HALF-WAY DECENT COMPARED TO THIS. WHEN ARE "TRUE" ROCK BANDS GOING TO LEARN NOT TO GO ALTERNATIVE? IT'S NOT THEIR STYLE, SOUND LIKE THE WAY YOU DID WHEN THE GOOD STUFF WAS OUT, NOT LIKE STINK 182, GREEN FAG, GRAVITY BLOWS, CRUD, SHIT STAIND (IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE YOU COULD SING). SOUND LIKE MOTLEY CRUE, NOT LIKE THAT ALTERNASHIT FROM THE 90'S, YOU SHOULDA HAD SOME BALLS AND ROCKED EVEN IF IT WASN'T GETTING PLAYED!!!!

BANDS LIKE THIS THAT WERE ABANDONED IN THE 90'S, STILL SHOULD'VE STUCK TO THEIR SOUND. THERE ARE STILL FANS OUT THERE THAT WILL BUY THE CDS EVEN IF THEIR NOT POPULAR OR GETTING RADIO AIRPLAY. RADIO STATIONS PLAY WHAT'S POPULAR, FUCK PLAYING WHAT'S POPULAR, PLAY WHAT'S GOOD. CRUD AND LIMP DICKIT AREN'T GOOD. MOTLEY CRUE IS GOOD, JUST NOT ON THIS CD!!!

Trying to compete with the bands that were big in 1997 was not the answer-this blew away like a dry fart upon its release. Just wasnt the right time. "Rat Like Me" is ok and I happen to be the few who like "Glitter" but not a great cd. They are back now almost 10 years later because the 90's were a horrible time for these great metal bands from the 80's. Would of been smarter not to release anything. 5/10

A monumentally massive Motley misfire. I've watched my dog crap out shit that stinks less than this CD. Generation Swine? Try to find ANY generation that thinks this isn't a dinosaur-sized pile of donkey dung. When your only good song is a remix of a track you released a decade and a half ago, you know you've put out something that even a pig would turn up its nose at.

I still cannot believe that after having a very successful decade (of decadence and fame), making it huge together, none of Tommy, Nikki or Mick sent any condolences to Vince when his sweet Skylar died of painful cancer. Vince will never forgive them and neither would I if that happened to me. So rotten. Quite some people criticize Vince, but I remember him attacking T, N and M much less than he got in return in '93-'96, and it sure wasn't Vince's fault that the songs on Swine were uninspiring and weak, even though Tommy & Nikki liked to blame all bad things on Vince at the time. In a nutshell Vince was fired because he didn't like the new songs (that Nikki wrote for the '94 album) and because of jealousy. They really thought they could kick their frontman out of the band and go on selling millions of records without anyone noticing or caring.. Nikki and esp Tommy wanted to jump on the band wagon badly, they were totally lost in the 90s

This album SUCKS! I didn´t believe when I Hearded for the first time, (actually I couldn´t play all songs)the only reason that this disc is now in my collection is to rememeber Me not buying another Crüe record, this changes with 2008´s S.O.L.A. But I Never understand why the band released this piece of garbage.
