It is great to be able to do the first post for this album. This one pretty much did not leave my cassette player from 1987-1990. Over and over, this is a great hard rock album. Very hard edged with killer tunes. Think Bon Scott era AC/DC with more polished vocals. Maybe a bit of Cinderella mixed in. There is not much production on this album other than letting the guys plug in and play. I hope this one gets rediscovered and released on cd. I don't believe they made a #2 but should have!

Finally-the band that i know as Reckless-one of my favorites ever. Tunes like 'Breakin' up' and 'Nitty Gritty' were perfect for the times. Talk about bringing back memories. Considering this was actually distributed by a major and had a fair amount of press it's amazing how this got swept by the roadside. NEEDS to be released on cd.

Why doesn't someone like Perris, Z Records, Kivel or Metal Mayhem release this classic on cd?? It would be a major hit!!

From: Chad Date: December 18, 2004 at 22:59
I agree David. This is so much better than the drivel being put out nowadays. I don't understand, hard rock never lost its appeal and this is certainly hard rock at its finest. This is easily a 10/10 release. I hope the band members shop this around. Contact Joe at www.retrospectrecords.com I am sure he would be super interested in releasing this album. This needs album needs to be heard.

Yeah-let's see it, a release this good doesn't deserve the fate it got. I remember absolutely cranking this tape cassette, then looking for it on CD in around the early 90' to find out that it never was. What?! Why the hell was this not released on CD?! Yup, even though this baby was in conjunction with Warner Brothers, it saw a somewhat limited release with the band receiving very little (if any) promotion. So, it begs to the question, why did a band that was so good not make it in 1987?!

From: Gary Kriss Date: January 13, 2005 at 6:37
Hey guys- Thanks for the juice about the record. I would love to rerelease it on cd with our video for 'nitty gritty' and pics. I also have some unreleased pre-production stuff that didnt get on the album.Circa 1990, I put a new lineup together with some incredible new songs, ruff stuff on cd from dat (unmastered). Raw and kick a@#. Any interest, contact me at gdfkvelvetbuzzsaw@yahoo.com Thanks for the support

From: robert arenz Date: January 21, 2005 at 22:38
i have to agree about this one.it is a great release, and a hell of a classic.i would love to see this come out on cd.great melody, cool sound, and catchy guitar riffs.i'm shocked that perris,or metal mayhem did not release it on cd several years back.hang in there guys it'll come out one day.

From: Metalman Date: July 18, 2005 at 10:43
Of all the bands that did make it, Why not this Reckless? Without a doubt a polished Metal band. They released their first album and about 3 months later, CD's came out. Could have had something to do with it.They just were not given their just do. Someone should re-release their stuff today. Every bit as good as Crue and Leppard. Lets go guys.....get on the ball! Rock-on RECKLESS!!!!!

From: juan carlos Date: May 6, 2007 at 18:48
Yeah Rock On!! 8.7/10

Just re-released on Retrospect Records! Finally!!

From: dlammers Date: June 16, 2007 at 13:21
Finally! a 20-year search for this album on CD has ended! I got it from www.retrospectrecords.com. The memories this album brings back are great. Jeez, what an album!

From: kipvanpearcy Date: January 13, 2008 at 14:43
Good album, the singer reminds me of Mike Tramp on some songs. Treat's riff on "Conspiracy" is a total rip off of Reckless' "Wild in the streets" btw.

Great in your face-hardrock with killer guitars and the rhythm section in the same way like the great bands:AC/DC,JUDAS PRIEST,DOKKEN,this band could be a classic at it´s time, they deserve more,if Retrospect don´t pulled out from the dust, they´d be a very lost gem in the dark, Voices in the night is my fav.,those killer riffs are awesome and the scream of the end makes me crazy,Railroad alley another highlight with the train sound, another classic,no fillers here 9.5/10.

From: 123charpenay Date: March 26, 2010 at 17:08
big sound big guitars super songs fantastics choruses but....a very big problem:the singer.he have no voice and the sound of his voice is not doing for hard rock.with a real hard rock singer this record could be a classic.but with this so weak singer it is what a shame.the weakness of the singer destroy the record!!!!!

Never had the chance to comment on this one so i decided to undust my vinyl(bought it when it came out in 1987)and gave it a "new" spin...yes,we have in here a more than pleasant Hard Rock album with that touch of "indie" that makes it quite interesting..."Nitty Gritty","Wild In The Streets","Breakin' Up" & "Night After Night" are great tracks by all means!!!...enjoyable and recommendable...87/100

From: hair metal again Date: February 27, 2012 at 11:52
very good debut by RECKLESS straight from New York bck in 87!raw,hard edged ,guitarish sound with some fine hooks and No Frills has the right groove and the songs needed!'nitty gritty","crazy over you" ,"breakin up" and "railroad alley " are excellent songs and overall this one wont let down any hard rocker around

From: peteahonen Date: March 22, 2024 at 6:17
Wow, just literally got this album yesterday and on vinyl. Really great stuff! Just odd job from the label to put Nitty Gritty as a single :O Imo it is the "worst" song on the album. This is much heavier than I expected \m/ Thanks from Finland

From: Rob Rocker Date: March 25, 2024 at 16:15
I can see where the song/single "Nitty Gritty" would be "polarizing", stylistically it reminds me of Kix, where rest of the material is more "metal" (like Queensrych). However, IMO "Nitty Gritty" is the only standout song on the CD, the rest is pretty weak. Overall not a bad "indie" band/album, but definitely not a case of "these guys should have been bigger".
