If you're a Fastway Fan, get this cd!!! Dave king is like a Male version of Janis Joplin!! He belts out vocals that you wouldn't think a little guy like him had.

I only know a some of the songs (1, 2, 7, 10) but they are great! Fantastic voice, beautiful vocal harmonies in "Get ready for the common man".

Low-rent supergroup features Dave King (Fastway) and journeyman guitarist Mandy Meyer. Pretty average. Too much screwing around and not enough rocking. When they're on, they achieve at an almost Great White calibre ("Only the Good Die Young").

Katmandu Rocked and Fastway was the best. I still listen to both bands like I bought the CD's yesterday. FYI Dave King is now singing for an Irish Band called Flogging Molly{not Fastway or Mandu but pretty good}. Later

I was disappointed by this album. "Sometime Again" & "Heart & Soul" are good, memorable songs but I thought the rest were generic.

Love this album, great hard rock, like a mix between Dangerous Toys and Firehouse. Mandy Meyer is playing with Gotthard these days.

Well, first let me say that this disc gets my vote for having one of the UGLIEST covers of all time...whazupwitdat? But lurking behind that god awful cover is a CD brimming with excellent, melodic hard rock. "Ready for the Common Man" and "Medicine Man" should have been HUGE hits....simply put...they ROCK! Pick this one up folks!

Great album, been after it since my vinyl died, finally got the CD. Tracks 1 & 7 stand out but it's a great album, great voice intelligent songs. Hard to categorise but a definite bluesy feel.

Completely agree with Gar. After the stellar FASTWAY albums, this one was a letdown for all but hardcore King fans. I got rid of this one, after some deliberation. Rather listen to Fastway!

Like Great White? Dave King was out a full year before Great White with Fastway s/t...Jack Russell is like Dave King! Sorry...just tired of hearing that comparison.

ANYONE HEAR OF A SECOND CD CALLED " A CASE FOR THE BLUES" ?
|
From: Jeff |
Date: April 2, 2004 at 17:43 |
BECK, according to ebay, A Case For The Blues is by a group called Peter Green's Katmandu. The album came out in 1999. Peter Green is a British blues guitarist. His most notable work was filling in periodically for Fleetwood Mac. Per allmusic.com, the album is listed under Katmandu, but is definitely not related to the Katmandu we all know and love.

A very underrated album...

Hey Scandinavia, I totally agree. "Let the Heartache Begin" (such a soulful power ballad) and "Medicine Man" (monster chorus) are unbelievably good songs, some of Dave King's best vocals IMO. King & Mandy Meyer make a deadly combo. Any Fastway fan should def. pick this hot number up - especially those who were less than thrilled when Fastway turned to keyboards. Overall no weak tracks to speak of and just a good, solid kick-ass power rock album. Rating 8.5/10

The ballad on this one is nice, and I really like the full, tight sound the band come equipped with, but I tend to agree with Koogles. Whilst it's a decent outing, there just aren't many very special songs. Decent hard rock at best, I'd call it. Reminds me of a far lesser version of Roadhouse, maybe mixed in with 2Die4. Pretty average IMO.

Considering the positive comments above I kinda wish I still owned this one so I could listen to it again. I seem to remember a below average rocker............

Sí, está bueno. La cara B del disco está mejor en mi opinión. "Ready for the Common Man" (3º fav.) con un comienzo raro pero despues la hacen linda, "Only the Good Die Young", "Let the Hearteache Begin" (la mejor del disco), "Medicine Man" vaya temazo y mi 2º fav., y la acústica "Sometimes Again" no está nada mal tampoco. 8/10

This CD is heavily lopsided toward the forgettable filler end of the spectrum, with at least two-thirds of the songs falling into that ho-hum category, but the remaining 3 or 4 tracks are commercial hard rock gold. Personally, I parted with my copy a long time ago and haven't missed it even once, but that's not to say most hard rockers won't find something to like on the CD...just be prepared for callouses to sprout on your finger from constantly pressing the "Skip" button.

you are fan of slaugter? this record could be for you.slaugther and katmandou plays the same hard u s with the "same" singer.the two singers have the same voice.slaugther and katmandu have the same common point.they are able to play some fantastic songs and some horrible songs on the same record.here track 9 and 10 are two atomic bombs.two exceptional songs.the rest?many big fillers and some songs wicht have their moments.some great choruses but some poor and not melodic verses for axample.some great intro, with catchy riffs but with some strange choruses, not catchy.in france we says "y a à boire et à manger".no bonus track on the very rare japan import.this cd is for die hard fans of hard u s.

There are 2 differences in here my dear friend 123charpenay beteen the 2 bands,Slaughter(American commercial pretty boys band)and Katmandu(Ireland less commercial or tried so but ugly guys band jejeje)...musically and vocally talking this act deserved more even though the Fastway sound is pretty attached in here because of Dave King's vocals...best tracks for me are 4(nice),6(nice),7(great!),8,9(great!)& 10(great!)...recommended stuff...88/100
