Disappointing work from the ex-Touch man ! Too average and not pompy enough !

Agreed! Stun Leer (self-titled) was one of the best releases of the late 90s. Naturally, when this release came out (dubbed Doug Howard's Stun Leer), I was expecting another CD full of juicy AOR peaches. Unfortunately, sour grapes was more like it. Doug's heavier direction meant fewer highlights. "Hey Money" rips off Don Henley's "Dirty Landry" a bit, but still manages to be memorable. "The Death of Me" isn't bad either, but the overall feeling is that these songs are Stun Leer B-sides/rejects

I think this cd really rocks. The song hey money is the only weak track on the cd.There are some real class rockers like death of me,living proof, worldwide, black Betty, higher, tell me and whip that really rock your socks off.The cd is hard melodic rock which also sounds up to date. This is heavier than STUN LEER but I like it.

It's hard to really appreciate this CD knowing what went on on the Stun leer CD. For me that is a classic in melodic hard rock and whilst this is not a bad CD, you cannot help but compare. There are a few highlights here, and it's worth picking up as you'll certainly find it for cheap if you look. Heavier, less melodic and lesser quality songs compared to Stun leer.

Usually I like it when a band (or solo artist) veers off in a heavier direction, but in this case, Doug's decision to dabble with a harder edge results in monumental disappointment on par with discovering the hot chick you picked up at the bar and took back to your apartment is actually a pre-operation transvestite who's still packing his package. Stunleer's album was so good, it makes you wonder why Howard couldn't come up with something comparable. If you ever had to chop your collection down to the best of the best, this album certainly wouldn't be the last CD standing.

i think it's a great work.
