This soundtrack is unique because it's set in modern day,but Mickey Rourke's character (Randy "The Ram" Robinson) personifies the 80's with his image, attitude and taste in music. The only genre monkey wrench is "Lil' Wayne" & 'Solomon'. Unfortunately strippers musical taste isn't stuck in the 80's from the club scenes. They should have killed those 2 hip-hop tracks and included GNR's "Sweet Child" and Bruce Springsteen's "The Wrestler" which where played in the movie but excluded from the soundtrack. Axl Rose due to his friendship with Rourke allowed the use of 'Sweet Child O' Mine' in the movie at a minimum cost since the film was shot on a shoe string budget. Cool to hear non-hit tracks back in the day like 'Don't Walk Away' by Firehouse. 'Mirror' by Dead Family & 'Dangerous' Mark Slaughter are the only dead weight rock tracks. Rourke should have won an academy award for best actor for this flick but he's burned a lot of bridges with the Hollywood elite with his colorful career. |
