Surprised there aren't any comments on this one, brilliant band, brilliant debut album. This album goes to prove that AC/DC weren't the only great 'boogie' band around, and definately equals if not betters quite a few of their albums. There are some great songs on this album, The rollocking 'Astra Wally' 'Remedy' & 'Nice Boys' to the more restrained, bluesier 'The Butcher & Fast Eddy' & 'Stuck On You' to the singalong 'One Of The Boys'. Quality with a capital 'Q' |

Just because they're Australian and their heyday was circa 1980, some people like to describe Rose Tattoo as "the punk AC/DC." Kind of a facile comparison, but not without merit. I'll play along: it's like AC/DC, but only if 90% of their songs were "Riff Raff," "Problem Child," "Rocker" and "Kicked In The Teeth." So yeah, it's stripped-down and amped-up rock 'n' roll, flying on crank and cranked to 12. I've heard this album was originally released Down Under in '78, but reissued a couple years later in North America. The title track is their best-known song, except for the fact that Guns n' Roses covered "Nice Boys." Other great tracks are "One Of The Boys," "Remedy," "Bad Boy For Love," and really the entire disc, save for the somewhat hokey "The Butcher And Fast Eddy," and the plain dreadful "Stuck On Y." Angry Anderson is at his best when hollering at the top of his lungs, not trying to sing the blues. This really is one of those albums (and bands) where it isn't just a cliche to sa |

... to say it's intended to be pbbayed at full blast. It actually sounds a little anemic at lower volume, but wide open, it's an absolute adrenaline rush. |
