| In my top 10 modern Rock n' Roll albums ;the production is awesome(especially the sound of the bass!)the drums explode and the singer is pretty good.What about the guitarist? HARRY CODY is a FLAMBOYANT,IMAGINATIVE but underrated guitarist (like most artists out of GLAM bands):I've been listening to this CD for 9 years,and i'm still not tired of it!

| A much inmprovement from the first album. Guitars still sound great and the lyrics aren't quite as childish as the first album. This CD is alot tougher sounding. Way to grow up guys even if you aren't anywhere to be found these days.

| Why does everybody consider Tim Skold as a better singer than Zinny Zan? I don´t think that´s so obvoius, and besides, Zan has a very unique voice which I appreciate. This second album is very good though, very solid. A must-have for EVERY hard rock fan! Sweden´s best band - better than Europe!!!

| Shotgun Messiah's best album, in my books. The debut was more about attitude and less about songs. "Violent New Breed" was a good industrial album but won't be what these guys are remembered for.

| koogles: too bad they won't be remebered for Violent New Breed - it was their best album and waaayyyy ahead of it's time (taking Ministry's industrial mayhem, NIN's techno-horror, and perfecting the sound here into their grand finale). Still, this album -rocks-, it's just that VNB is sooo much better.

| Personally, I prefer Zinny over Skold. This album isn't bad though. Heartbreak Blvd. never really did much for me. Don't Care 'Bout Nothin' is still my fav.

| These guys were good, I just hate the fact that they got the shaft because of all the grunge b.s. that came out in the early 90's,why MTV sold out to grunge and rap, I guess we will never know,besides BET is all rap crap all the time, so why can't MTV be Rock,Hard Rock,and Metal all the time. it's time fans of rock music take a stand..

| well, well, well would you believe it!? this one turns out to be even better than the first one.tim skold handles the vocals and he actually does a pretty good job too.the sound is heavier than on his previous album but in my opinion this only improves the formula.

| One totally awesome album. After losing the gloss of their first CD, they pumped out the album by which i compare ALL other 'hair' bands I hear to. Sadly after this Skold got disillusioned with heavy metal and went all industrial. Shame - they were really onto a great thing here. Thankfully, this remains the Shotgun Messiah album that's still inprint, so you have no excuse! PS. Tim's vocals are part of the album' charm, I wouldn't dream of changing them.

| The CD gets off to a rather clichéd and unimpressive start with "Sexdrugsrockn'roll," but when Messiah tears into "Trouble," "Heartbreak Blvd," and "Can't Fool Me" — which are among the foursome's best and most focused songs — listeners will be glad to have heard Second Coming.

| Awesome cd. The spoken words in the middle of "Red Hot" sound like the serial killer from "Silence of the Lambs" when he's in the basement tucking his package and talking to the mirror. "I need to take some time, clear my fucking mind...a blackened sheep, diggin' deep..." This cd really rocks!

| I play this one regularly. Right now, I am hooked on the song "I Want More." Excellent tune! It's like a ballad with powerful guitar and Tim's raspy vocals.

| I OWN the guitar that Harry used on all the solo's it's a sweet piece. All custom handmade to Harry's specs by Grover Jackson himself! too bad I can't post pictures but if any of you saw them on the 1st tour in '89 - '90 it's the one he used then:-)

| I bought this album based on the good reviews that are listed above. I do not like this album. This is a third rate Motley Crue sound alike band. Not even worth the 6 bucks I paid for it. Beware.

| They ditch the glam metal sound for a Skid Row sound on this album. The album starts off really song, especially the opening track and Heartbreak Blvd, but the second half see the band run out of steam. 7/10

| Who would ever believe that this band is swedish? They sound or even look like like a california gang...This album is reflecting what hard rock is all about and how was meant to be back on those glory days. Might be the perfect album for a sleaze seminar. Put Red Hot on maximum volume and rock till you drop! Slightly better than their debut...

| Very different to the debut, but I love it just the same. If you're not hooked after the first track there is trouble. Surely intended to rip faces apart, it succeeded with me! Awesome hard rock, much like my favourite track, 'Heartbreak Blvd' - amazing riff driven hard rock! 'Living without you' is a sensational ballad and 'Ride the storm' and 'Free' are both melodic (Who'd have picked it?) gems. As for the rest, the rock is hard and the album is great! I love this CD!

| Ok--No this is SO different! Is one of my all time fav cds. The first time I heard Heartbreak Blvd.(1991)- I thought--DAMN! Bon Jovi meets real attitude! These guys were, at the time, what all hair bands were trying to become. Listen to Heartbreak Blvd., Nobody's Home, I Wanna Know, Red Hot, Free, Livin Without You--Damn these songs are fantastic! While Tim's vocals aren't the greatest--they are very unique. Again Harry is a guitar God to me!! Absolutely worth checking out! Long live SM and Seco

| Now THIS is more like it -- total balls-to-the-wall intensity from start to finish. Your head will be noddin' from the very first note of "SexDrugsRockNRoll" straight through to the ending of "Cant' Fool Me." I used to claim "Violent New Breed" as my favorite S.M. disc but lately I can't seem to pry this one outta my player so it's giving "VNB" some stiff competition. They may look pretty glam, but Shotgun Messiah were pretty damn METAL on this album!

| Respecting the good comments above but i think this one lowered a lot if you compare it with the quality of their first album that for me was not a masterpiece either but it has something interesting in the tracks that made it appealing at least to me...my faves in here are "Heartbreak Blvd","Free"(AORish),"Living Without You"(good ballad) & "Can't Fool Me"...nothing else 2 say...70/100

| This one hits like a shotgun blast to the eardrums. So good, you can't help but fall to your knees and thank whatever metal messiah you worship for allowing such an awesome album to bless the hard rock congregation. Few bands survive a major style change, but just like Skid Row took the hair metal sound of their debut and metalized it for their sophomore effort, Shotgun Messiah took the sleazy cock-rock of their debut and beefed it up into this hard rocking powerhouse. Just read the plethora of positive comments about this album and you'll realize it's almost good enough to make hard rock fans come in their pants.

| Here ShotgunMessiah moved away from the typical glam&sleaze & instead went for a hard rocking (& evidently shirts off) borderline metalfest. Plenty partyfun still there (& sexdrugsrocknroll hinted at the industrial style Skold would move to come next album) but a more mature (& far more interesting) ShotgunMessiah (lyrically too which was a nice plus) was on offer. Highlights were the earthy tunes such as borderline epic I Want More, the radio friendly and wonderful Free almost ballads Living Without You and We Ride The Storm and punchy Heartbreak Blvd. Depending how ya roll there's probably couple more on offer too, either way when SecondComing got it right it got it very right! Not a complete album as such but one with many highlights that can be counted on when returning to the album even after all these years. Yes like stated above, a shame Skold & Co couldn't offer at least one more like this before the change. Still holds a 7 but back when released was a worthy 8/10. Cool voice!

| Some 1st class songs are giving a hand to some rather average songs. I have the similar feeling of Tim Skold who isn't an extraordinary singer but his display here is accurated. I would compare this album mainly to lighter Warrior Soul but yeah previous comparisons to early Skid Row (in some songs) or G'N'R are ok. If you like such kind of dirty heavy rock then you can't be wrong with this album. 80/100.

| My pick for best sleaze rock album of 1991 doesn't even come from USA. The Swedish lads had some success with their debut a few years earlier, but the growth to this second album is telling. Definite sleazy vibe through this release and I reckon it is the link from the glory years to the new sleaze metal movement in Sweden that started late 2000s. Of course, Heartbreak Blvd is the standout track but I Want More and Free and others are also great listens. Grade A Swedish Sleaze.

| This was a big disappointment for me after enjoying the outstanding debut. My major gripes with this one are the horrendous vocals. Bizarrely, the bassist from the debut is now the vocalist and sounds a bit like Gilby Clarke from his Kill for Thrills album except he really can't sing at all and tries to sound all 'punky.' The guitars on the debut were wild but here they're a lot more tame and run-of-the-mill although there are still occasional flashes of the old brilliance on songs like I Want More. I could forgive all that if the songs were decent but I can't get into most of them despite trying several times over the years. I particularly detest Living Without You (horrid vocals) and I Wanna Know (hookless wonder) but I quite like Free, I Want More and Ride The Storm.
